Grilled Salmon Slice
Lisette C.

I've been coming here for over 10 years and they never disappoint. I only get the grilled salmon and vegetables. This time I ordered four pieces with vegetables. It was a lot of food and they graciously put it in a large pan. It has fed two of us for lunch and dinner for two days so far and we still have food remaining. The service was quick. It took about twenty minutes for the food to be ready.

Sautéed: Shrimp & Filet Red Snapper w/ carrots over yellow rice.... Awesome sauce!

24 Hour Seafood is not a brand new idea in Harlem by no means, but this spot right here, just might have changed my life last night. Just saying! All the same elements as other well known/popular locations with the same concept... Fresh seafood in a walk-in cold storage that you pick yourself. Pre-packaged vegetable options that you can add to the meal you want to create. It's weighed & bagged by the gentlemen inside the fridge, then you pay, get your ticket and let them know how you would like it cooked (broiled, sautéed, steamed,... etc). Then the magic happens... they season and start working those pans on that grill to produce whatever you requested. I selected shrimp, red snapper filet and carrots to be sautéed. They seasoned it to perfection adding onions and green peppers to a garlic sauce. When it was all said and done it was laid over a bed of yellow rice. So dang on good and enough to have some for today... thank the Law'd. I see no need for me to travel over to Broadway any more. This spot isn't large but it's not a shoe box either. A few stools if you wanna stay but I say take it to go as intended, so you can get comfortable and get into it... I did! Lol

I've patronized this establishment many times in the past, the food and service was good. When I realized they were open during this pandemic I was appreciative that they decided to open. However, What I found disturbing is the price gouging. This establishment during this time Of crisis is chairing 18.00 dollars for 1 cluster of crab legs, 13.00 a lb for salmon 14-19 dollars a lb for shrimps, 1.50 per tray for vegetables and range from 14-20 dollars. How disgusting to over charge the community that support and patronize your location during this time. We understand that your cost may have gone up as well but you service a predominately minority community. Raising prices by a few dollars bid fine but 18 dollars for crabs and 13 a pound for salmon???? DISGRACEFUL!!!!!! Also, the security at the door is rude and the staff is cold and rude. The young men in the back area was and always is very nice and helpful.. News flash owners we chose to patronize your location and because we look a certain way we deserve to to treated with a level of respect and gratitude for our monies keeping your door open. People do yourselves a favor and go to one of the clubs ( Sam's Costco) and and buy your crabs and seafood and prepare it yourself. Write your local government as well.. In conclusion, YOU'VE LOST A CUSTOMER!!!!! SHAMEFUL!!!!!!!

Great local seafood place in Spanish Harlem. Steam salmon fillet with your choice of veggies plus a side of grilled squid.

Great local place for seafood anyway you like it. Nice people who work there as well. I'd recommend the grill squid and broiled salmon. You can't go wrong with that.

Whiting fish and chip combo
Dessi B.

If I can give this review negative stars I would. I ordered what I believed to be a fish and chips combo. Smells spoiled, taste even worst and even the fries are soggy. To top it off customer service was horrible. I felt as if it was a bother to ask for condiments. I have never tasted food this bad. And yes I did throw it away. I hope this review helps. If you hungry do not order food from here.

Good food, both steamed or fried. Sometimes a little wait but we'll worth it. 24hours is a plus! Come late nights or early morning

As I entered the store, it was filled with one dozen customers waiting for their order. It is always a promising sign when is restaurant is crowded. As I removed the plate from the bag, I was immediately "reeled" in! The whiting fish was unbelievably thick and wide. It was perfectly breaded and seasoned; it easily pulls apart. You'll be "hooked" whether you enjoy the fish as is, with tartar sauce, or hot sauce. The choice is yours. An order of piping hot fries is also included. Make My Fish does not accept credit cards or Apple Pay, but an ATM machine is conveniently located inside the restaurant.   I am happy to say Make My Fish made my day! #makemyfish #fishandchips #makemyfishharlem #harlemny

Anytime I'm nearby, MMF reels me in, like this past Saturday early evening. The line was not long, but people are steadily streaming in. It's like this all day here, for those who don't know, and a testament as to how good it is, particularly the catfish. ProTip 1: Get here early afternoon. For one, you will not find any chicken typically after three and there's no chicken on Fridays if memory serves correctly. Two, I have found the larger fillets of catfish may be gone by three or four on a busy Saturday. This was the case this Saturday, when I ordered two orders of just the catfish. These fillets were four inches or so, when they can be as much as seven or eight inches and thick. Size matters folks! ProTip 2: Order your catfish extra crispy. It's worth the wait. You'll be waiting anyway. You may have time to go out and order from another nearby place and return to pickup your order. ProTip 3: Try the fish with tartar sauce and hot sauce. I had been reading others doing it and tried it and like it. For some reason I've always been a hot sauce purist and never thought to combine it with the tartar sauce. I even tried it with some chunky salsa with pineapple. I can see it with mango salsa too. It's slightly out of the ordinary, but good and probably really good with the shrimp. I'd like your feedback on that. ProTip 4: Cash is King and there's no restroom. Any more ProTips at MMF? 4.3 stars! (PS, one day I'll remember to take a picture.)

OVERALL/WHAT TO KNOW: -Cash only!!!…read more-Be ready to wait! About 20 minutes from when you order, more if they're busy. -Hard to beat this combo of prices, portions, and quality. -Take-out only. -Make sure to fill your own to-go cups of sauce. ARRIVAL: -I walk by all the time and often see lines down the block. -Very disappointed in myself that I never tried it until now. -Been there twice now in two weeks. FOOD/DRINK: -Great portions, they really heap on those sides. You can get 2 meals out of one dinner easily, specifically with the sides. The mains obviously vary. -I've had the fried tilapia, fried flounder, collared greens, mac and cheese, garlic mashed potatoes, cabbage, french fries, and broccoli. -My favs are the fries, mac and cheese, and collared greens, but it's all good. -Everything is well seasoned and tastes great. You might find it salty if you're not used to that. The cabbage was bordering too salty, but it still tasted great. -Some things are better than others. Broccoli is the only thing that was disappointing because it was super mushy from being steamed too long, but tbh the flavor was still grear. SERVICE: -Def on the slow side. Even when there was no line, it still took a while between ordering and receiving food. -Line also moves pretty slow sometimes. -Staff are chill and efficient. -There is a little sauce station with to-go cups at the pick up area. The tartar sauce and orange "boom boom" sauce are great. -They double bag stuff to prevent leakage, which is both helpful and necessary. ATMOSPHERE/LAYOUT: -No frills, straightforward local vibe. -No tables, just cash register to place orders and then small pick up counter. -There's a lot of signs up about their policies such as: cash only, no refunds only store credit, check your order before you leave to make sure it's correct. -They have a separate area inside with its own door, I think it's refrigerated and just for their raw fish sales or if you're picking things out for a seafood boil. SUGGESTIONS FOR BUSINESS: -Adding more descriptions to the menu would be helpful. For example: what's the difference between lobster fries and loaded lobster fries? What comes on the fish sandwich or is it just fish and bread? Does henny mac and cheese have Hennessy in it or is that just a name?

My friend and I split a fried catfish and shrimp platter which comes with two sides. We had to get the mac and yams. Food came out in about 20ish minutes and it was GOOD. There's no seating at this location. Everyone just grabbed to go but since we still had to take the train home we ate our plates outside. The catfish and shrimp was fried perfectly. The mac reminded me of my nana's, soooo good. Paired with the yams too? Yeah, I'll be back here soon!

She said the tacos were good. We were given appetizers of beef empanadas mushroom fried balls, and vegetables rolls. The empanadas and mushroom balls were good. We didn't care for the vege rolls. Tired of beef steaks, come get your fish steaks. The salmon looks great here. Everything looks great here. Walk in through the front doors and notice something? No fishy odor, just fresh fish. Let's cover the layout and ground rules. On your left, you have immediately the whole fish. Further back on your left, you have the fillets and steaks. All the usual suspects are here. All the way back on your left, you will find the various sized farm raised shrimp. Around that left corner, moving from left to right you will find the wild caught shrimp. In the middle at the back, is the register where you will eventually pay. Immediately below and in front of the register are the veggies: broccoli, carrots, corn, onions. To the right of the register in the back are the mussels, scallops, and clams. On the right as you walk in, there is one of the busiest counters with a guy steaming all your orders in a giant steamer behind the counter. Walk a little further toward the back on the right side is a guy who is busy frying fish and French fries, making fish sandwiches, and frying whatever whiting, catfish or shrimp you desire. Further back on your right toward the back is where you can obtain your crab legs and lobster. Given this was my first time, I am laying out the ground rules and procedures. Use the tongs everywhere to load your seafood in the steel bowls by the seafood on your left or in the middle of the store on a few tables. You take your bowl or bowls to the guy at the register in the back and pay for your items by weight and their various price rates. Most things are between $10-$20 per pound. Cash is King, but I believe they take Master and Visa, not American Express. Tell the guy how you want your seafood prepared: fried or steamed. He will slice your fillets and chop your corn, placing everything in a plastic basket if you want it steamed together or separately if you're going to fry certain things. He will give you a number for every basket and place the identical number in each basket for tracking. If you're frying, take that basket to the second station or counter on the right. If you're steaming, take your basket to the first station on your right as you enter. The guy at the steaming counter with liberally add the Old Bay, garlic and other seasonings to your seafood. If want low sodium, this is where you tell him to limit the salt. This is also in retrospect, when I would emphasize to the steaming guy not to overcook your seafood. Many of my people (African Americans) and from what I observe among the Latino community like everything cooked well: steaks medium well to well done, eggs scrambled hard, veggies cooked to death and seafood cooked well done. So this is the default expectation and the guy will steam to that degree. The cooking and steaming will continue on your way home, so I would in retrospect advise cutting the steam time by at least five minutes. Your shrimp will suffer the most from over steaming and this would likely apply to your lobster as well. Keep this is mind and let the guy at the steamer know you wish to limit the steam time. My overcooked shrimp is reflected in this rating, but there is more upside when I return. When the steaming is done or overdone, he will announce your number and bag your seafood. You can and should ask him to add laddles of melted butter to your bag of seafood. Tell him how many laddles of butter you want added to your bag(s). He will add more seasoning at this point as well if you ask him. He will twist the bag(s) closed and place them in a plastic container with rubber bands for the trip home. It's all so very delicious and I will return. Two fillets of catfish, two fillets of cod, about a dozen Tiger shrimp and at least a dozen large scallops with the veggies came to $71. I find this quite reasonable and it tastes so good. If you want your shrimp deveined, they have the ones with the shells taken off and deveined. Go home, crack a beer and devour! 3.8 stars!

Fresh seafood: grab the fish and veggies you want and they will steam with their sauce for you…read more There's also a fried menu. We tried both; some of the fried stuff was a bit too dry but overall yummy. Friendly service and a good experience. There's no place to eat inside so it's mainly a take out place.
