Most people take and enjoy as they keep moving. Talked with the two young guys working there about why it's so popular. They only use seasonal raw materials and milk from organic farms. They won the prestigious "three cones" award from Gambero Rosso in 2000. Apparently this is a big deal, posters and signs everywhere highlighting this. I went with their popular brioche bun with coffee gelato. This thing was a monster, glad I'm splitting it! This is considered a gourmet ice cream sandwich. It was amazing, definitely a different taste with a bun and ice cream... but delicious. No wonder this place is recognized as one of the best gelato shops in Palermo if not all of Italy.

Portions were also generous given the price. It's a great grab-and-go place because there are no seats. I would definitely come here again if I find myself in Palermo in the future.

Forget money laundering, this is my new obsession. The service was great, the workers are definitely working very efficiently and have a great way of making the place flow. I am almost convinced that everyone in the restaurant is an actor and they rehearse this scene every day- how fluent they move. I bought two arancini. One was burro (which I was later disappointed when I found out that's not donkey, but still good) and one was ham and cheese. I promise I came within 2.4 millimeters of collapsing from the pleasure I felt when I bit into them. I went to the nearby park with one of my wives I met last month and we ate them. It was beautiful. The outside of the food was so crunchy you could have sanded a piece of wood with it. The rice inside was so moist that you'd think you're eating pudding. The meat and cheeses inside reminded me of home before the charges because they were criminally good. I went in around the same time school was letting out and apparently all the kids in Sicily decided to come by and flood the place like a pack of snotty booger balls and make a ruckus. Not Touring's fault however. But I think there should be a rule that requires you to be at least old enough to brush your own teeth in order to buy food with your moms credit card. Throughout the day we sampled freshly made pastries, gelato, panini and traditional Sicilian street food. By the 3rd day they greeted me as if I was a local. They knew a little English and I know a little Italian so we were able to get my orders done. The prices were very reasonable and nothing like the touristy locations. In the evening locals filled the tables on the front patio and to me that is a sign of a much loved restaurant & bar. Since then I have been there many times enjoying the very good quality and the pleasant atmosphere. Italo is situated in quit wealthy surroundings, so the standard follows the demand of being on their toes. This does not make it snobby at all, though. It is also a free room. Not many tourists find their way here. When taking a walk in Villa Trabia and The English Garden also nearby a visit to Italo can be recommended. The ice cream, even with good Italian standard, is superb.
