But they don't. So I will for them. Opened in 1899 (!) dishin' out pastries for over 117 years, Pasticceria Buscaglione gave me and my posse a sampling of excellent Palermitano sweets. It's soo easy to love this sweets shoppe. First, they make a genius cassata and if you've never had this, try it here. A cassata is a dome shaped marzipan cake, ricotta (best in Sicily), enveloped in a marzipan fondant type covering, so delicious and with a coffee will send you to heaven faster than a tiramisu. This version is soo good, my group got them togo. That, in addition to the awesome hand painted marzipan fruit, wrapped nicely for presents to friends, you are treated to a unique experience: you almost don't want to eat them for fear of ruining Art. The mandorle (almond based cookies) were 2die4 as well. Come here for a quick dessert and coffee, after the Teatro Massimo and have an unforgetable espresso-- so good here also. The staff here are friendly and helpful. They speak a little English but the language of food is universal, no need to speak Italian, just point and smile. Since then I have been there many times enjoying the very good quality and the pleasant atmosphere. Italo is situated in quit wealthy surroundings, so the standard follows the demand of being on their toes. This does not make it snobby at all, though. It is also a free room. Not many tourists find their way here. When taking a walk in Villa Trabia and The English Garden also nearby a visit to Italo can be recommended. The ice cream, even with good Italian standard, is superb.

When we walked in and picked our breakfast and coffees, they had us step back outside and choose a table. We chose well. And then our purchase was brought to us. It was not until the end that we asked for a check and paid with credit card at the table. Lovely. My sweet roll stuffed with cheese and ham was delicious. The coffee was strong and the view of Teatro Massimo was great :) Will have to try their pastries and their Marocchino coffee next. They have a full service bar in the evenings too. EDIT: Just tried their Marocchino and this is now our favorite espresso drink! This was more of a macchiato with a dash of cocoa on top, which really elevated the espresso without being too sweet. Two marocchinos and a lemon croissant only set us back €5.50. The croissants are huge too
