Once I entered the salon I was received by the most unfriendly lady saying 'can I help you?' not even a 'hello, how are you?'. I asked for an appointment and I was told 'no appointment for today' and they didn't even ask for what day. I told this friendly lady that I was looking for an appointment for next week, and I explained what I was looking for (a simple color service). She, then, went to look for another lady and they began to look at me and laugh. This second lady who came was as unfriendly, rude, and disrespectful with me as the first lady who assisted me. The only thing she said to me by touching my hair was 'mmmmm you do this at home, isn't?' No my love no. I did my hair for YEARS in a lot of salons. She told me she had to do a patch test, and maybe she would call me back. Of course, she NEVER call me back. I knew they didn't want to take an appointment to me, so I called back to ask and they say I didn't pass the test and they basically cannot take anyone with my hair at the salon. I hope anyone has to feel the way I felt treated by them.

The one downside was the manger/receptionist man who was never friendly and constantly seemed to nag the staff and generally scowl. He really detracted from an otherwise pleasant environment. My falling out of love with Leonards began over a voucher. My sister, having saved up her few euro to buy me a Christmas present, gave me a €100 voucher. It had a 6 month expiry on it. I lost it (doh!) and found it again a few months after the expiry date. Most companies are actually fairly decent about honouring these so I rang to enquire and spoke with the manager/receptionist man mentioned above. He informed me that there was no way of claiming the voucher. I responded that I'd better make sure not to get them again....to which he replied "well, we don't want to see you either" and hung up. Interesting customer care! I was fairly furious and wrote to Leonard himself, enclosing my voucher. He apologised and sent me another voucher (again with a 6 month expiry). I actually couldn't face getting my hair done there again so I decided to spend the money on Aveda products in the salon. Dealt with the same manager...who took the voucher to Leonard to check it and scowled through my transaction. I'm giving 2 stars because 1 is the lowest and they get an extra star for having some good hairdressers and the fact that Leonard answered my letter of complaint and refunded the voucher. I will never spend money there again though. Leonard already drives a much better car than I do!

I had a fringe cut in here recently and I knew I was in safe hands. Just be very specific about what you want (could be said about going to any hairdressers, I guess) People of all ages come here and the staff are lovely, they do their best to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. They are very reasonably priced (and I am a mature student saying that) and you will not be ripped off. The decor inside is not fancy and it is situated over a pub but do not let that put you off! It is literally across from the G.P.O. so you cannot miss it! Don't assume either that some inexperienced student will be let lose on your head, the students of the academy wash hair and make your tea, that is all. They have excellent, qualified staff inside there. Overall, I highly recommend this place! It is almost a 'hidden gem' that I have been going to for nearly ten years!

Three staff members were whispering and sniggering after putting the towel and cover up around my shoulders before telling me they couldn't do a half head due to nano beads. ive had these extensions for years and it was never a problem. they were on the bottom half of my head and wouldn't have effected the colour. it wasn't so much the time wasting and just general bad communication on their behalf it was the school girl sniggering that really put me off. getting your hair done should be a positive experience and this was the furthest thing from it

Today, I booked in with Julie. 42 minutes into my appointment -- Julie touched my hair for the first time. SOPHIE washed my hair after Julie explained what shampoo to use. I was never told I was going to be used for training and I never would have agreed. Exceedingly disappointing. I told them when booking I had to be at an event at 11:30am (so need to leave by 11;15am latest) Physically talked to team about it (as had haircut on the Thursday). They told me would put note on account that I was under time pressure but there would be plenty of time. Arrived for my appointment...& was told to wait. 15 minutes AFTER my appointment start time I reminded them of my time constraints. Was told to wait and asked if I wanted tea / coffee. Then after tea arrived Julie introduced herself and asked what I was having done. I explained I was supposed to be getting hair straightened and like ghd waves. She told me they will wash my hair straight away so I am "not waiting". Sophie did my hair after Julie told her how to wash it and what sprays to put in. Sophie is lovely but kept lightly knocking my head with the hair drier. Struggled to dry my curly hair as kept mixing up the separated parts and clips. Eventually 42 min later Julie came over and my hair was half wet. She asked me what I was going to have done -- & suggested a boho blow dry as alternative to straightening. I told her I had no time to do anything else due to her tardiness. She was like "oh, you don't have to leave for another 45 minutes we will have plenty of time". I said no. I was supposed to BE there in 45 min. So need to leave here in 10 min max. She was like "right" then did a curly blow dry. I was horrified and in tears leaving. Manager didn't charge me. Went to my event with frizzy & curled hair. NEVER recommending using them for a weekend or Saturday appointment unless they give you plenty of time to "fix" their mistakes.

The stylist should not have said she could achieve something if not possible and should have done everything in her power to correct it once the error was made. Emailing for a refund was rejected. The full head of blonde highlights they did were great, exactly what I asked for and the colourist was lovely, really friendly. However, I was not asked or told about a €25 additional hair treatment that was put on my hair. I thought the price was a bit steep when paying but initially thought it was the full head of highlights as I wasn't sure of the price range. I also produced a 20% off voucher from my employer which the woman at the till acknowledged and said "oh great you'll get a discount with that", except that it wasn't applied at all. I only realised that I wasn't charged correctly once I got home and checked the price of a full head of highlights on their website. They range from €115-€125 but I was charged €140 (bear in mind that this was not including a cut). I just assumed that I'd been incorrectly charged. I received a push notification from the salon soon after via an app asking to rate the visit. I rated the colour and service highly and politely inquired about the price. A text message arrived from the salon the next morning thanking me for the visit but did not reference my previous price query. I replied with the same comment as on the app. The following evening, I rang them up and queried it again. They advised the extra amount was for the hair treatment that I never requested or was told about and advised that customers are always asked first if they want it or not. I replied that I wasn't informed and I would have remembered if I was. I inquired about the 20% off voucher that wasn't used. The girl was understanding and said that she would check with the manager and I'd be contacted back. It's now been 10 days and I've still heard nothing back. I've since spoken with some colleagues of mine and they have heard of 2 similar experiences of poor post-visit customer service from the same salon. Both times it involved the customer going back to simply query an aspect of the visit, only to be made to feel embarrassed and/or met with hostility over querying it. Getting your hair done is a service like any other and if you are not happy with any element of that service then you are fully entitled by law to query it and expect a response from the service provider. It's evident that The Edge Hair Design do not care about their customers enough to actually follow-up on a query/complaint. They say a disgruntled customer will tell 10 people about their bad experience who in turn tell another 10, therefore it's so important for businesses to follow-up on these queries and set the matter right. As I said, this could have so easily been a great review as I was very happy with the hair colour and service during the actual visit itself. Instead, it's a prime example of very poor customer service from a reputable salon that should treat paying customers with more respect.
