Really really liked the cut & colour by Shane (Pity he is leaving in July. He understands curly hair and really understood what I was asking. Left with beautiful glossy hair and gorgeous finished smooth locks. Took off star because previously had an average cut by Vicky ...pretty much ignored my requests and made it much too short (despite me very clearly at start saying I didn't want an extreme cut and explaining I have fine hair). Although the staff were very friendly, the stylist butchered my hair and put layers into it that mean I can't even tie it up to hide it. Bought a headscarf on the way home and was crying about the state of my hair. Job interview tomorrow and I have lost all my confidence. read more

Have had my hair done at Origin numerous times before but my last experience was horrendous enough to make me never want to return again. I went in for a cut and blow dry and was given a friendly trainee hair stylist. Everything was going fine until just before the blow dry, the stylist put about 3 tablespoons worth of Moroccan hair oil into his palms and then rubbed it into the back of my scalp and attempted to drag it down the length of my hair. I thought it was odd at the time but I said nothing. Then he began blow drying and spent about 15 full minutes trying to dry the back of my hair, which obviously was covered in hair oil so it would not dry. A senior stylist came over to try and salvage it but could not do much. They had a quiet conversation away from me and came back and did one last brush through my hair. Neither of them explained to me that they made a mistake. I am in my late teens so I'm guessing they assumed that I wouldn't speak up for myself. I was sent to the front desk, told the price (at no discount for their error) and sent out the door with my hair stuck to my scalp. It took 5 washes (over 2 weeks) to get my hair back to slightly normal. I'm really annoyed with the service I received and I wouldn't recommend Origin to anyone because the ignorant and dismissive treatment I received as a loyal customer. read more

I walked in to origin on drawbridge street late on Friday afternoon without an appointment in a bit of a panic as I needed my hair blow dried. They were really busy but Fergal went out of his way to fit me in, even though I was a complete stranger to the salon as I don't live in Cork. My blow dry was great and Orla who did my hair was very friendly. The whole experience was really great.
