Quite the assumption to make since I'm in my 40s. She stated the shop was for elderly ladies in their 60s & 70s. I nodded and smiled commenting on the jewelry as I was shopping for my mother; but she didn't ask. So, I continued to browse and she repeatedly stated the same statement four more times. I was there for less than 10 minutes and she went into the back before I left. The store gives off a classy aesthetic and I did intend to buy a pair of earrings but the customer service contradicted that classy atmosphere.

The young lady at the counter was pleasant and checked on the price of a chain necklace for me that was on a shelf towards the back of the boutique. It was marked at $32. I thought it was a little high, but the neighborhood is also a factor, so understood. There were a nice array of accessories, which I am a fan of. Lots of nice purses, Dooney & Burke, and necklaces and earrings. Fortunately for myself, there were clip-ons as well. I was almost tempted to purchase a pair of yellow square earrings for $12, since I love larger earrings, but did not. I did manage to grab a business card. I was advised that if I check social media new finds may be posted. I will definitely be checking out their finds.

But, you can still find some brands like Express and Banana Republic at reasonable prices. It can be hit or miss here sometimes as it does appear that much of the clientele is middle-aged. But, I have managed to find cute dresses for clubbing as well as work appropriate pieces here without spending an ungodly amount of money.

Tucked away from the busy Water Street shopping area in downtown Excelsior, Ace carries a fantastic assortment of mens tees, sweatshirts, hats, jewelry, bags and grooming gear. I wish they had a location in Minneapolis proper (the vibe is perfect for the North Loop), but it's worth the drive. This will quickly become my go-to spot for mens gifts because they literally have everything you need to curate a unique gift set: Cool cards? Check. Unique candles? Yep. Affordably priced jewelry and grooming kits? Check and check. On a recent trip in I picked up a great gold bracelet, a locally-made wood storage crate for my dog's toys and a Huckberry tabletop fire pit, all for under $200 total. The bracelet is a great addition to my formal wear, while the fire pit is a nice fit for my small patio (clean burning using Isopropyl alcohol). The storage crate is short and durable, perfect for my dog to easily identify the toys he wants to play with. Service at Ace is excellent - All staff are super knowledgable of the products and will often tell you the artist or brand they're sourced from. I can't recommend them enough. Next time you're in need of a gift for the guy in your life, skip Target and head for Ace General Store!

I purchased a unique and beautiful salt grinder and matching pepper grinder. I also purchased a tonic for adult beverages (very tasty, by the way) and a cookbook (I've now used for a few different recipes). This was the first store I visited in Excelsior. I asked the sales clerk if I could leave my purchases for a few hours. I was easily accommodated and the clerk couldn't have been nicer about it. This was one of my favorite places in Excelsior!
