The hallways poorly lit, my mom's room filthy. My mom wears Depends. I'm not sure anyone ever helped her change them. If they did, they were left in the kitchen garbage, and the entire apartment smelled like urine. We cleaned up feces ourselves. The carpet was rarely or never cleaned. My mom had an odor and her clothes looked filthy. The plethora of group activities, and services like the Beauty Parlor were spotty or non existent. Communication horrible. The administrator, Mike Postin, was rarely on the premises. Phone calls rarely returned. Billing inaccurate, and inconsistent. If there was ever an issue, it always seemed to be my mother's fault. We have since moved her to another facility across town (basically the same price). She looks bathed, her hair is done, clothes are clean, involved in activites, room is spotless. She is THRIVING. Do your homework. We are so sad that we left here here so long.

Negative stars!!!!!!!! In my opinion and experience,…read moredealing with Linden Court Waukesha was like a nightmare that never ended, the worst two years of my life. The memory care unit has the most vulnerable residents and I have seen animals treated better. I have a full-time job, but this quickly became my second and not as an employee. I wish I could have had the opportunity to move my mom sooner. There are better places out there. Like countless others, It was one of the hardest decisions I had to make for my mom, placing her care and giving blind trust to strangers, but boy did they sell me in the beginning. I quickly learned how poorly it was managed, starting at the top, a constant revolving door of staff, never knowing who is in charge. The caregivers that cared were left without the proper tools or assistance to do their job. Overworked, underappreciated and ultimately many left throughout this time. The others seemed to be there just for a paycheck, more interested in their smart phones than the residents. A certificate of any sort is not required to work in a CBRF facility. I could list all the terrible quality of care issues and occurrences, but this review would be even lengthier so here are just a few. When I couldn't be there to do ALL of the care for her, she was left without being provided basic daily needs. My biggest issue was her medication not given when scheduled or sometimes at all, leaving her in a state of fear and agitation. She would be left in the same clothes multiple days in a row, not being provided a weekly shower which resulted in a horrible peri-area rash. It was only treated daily if I was there to apply the ointment. Meals not provided on time and often served cold. (I regularly helped serving) Her room was not cleaned, bedding changed, or laundry washed. I was constantly informing management, filing grievances as to what was happening and the horrific things I witnessed, including documentation and pictures. There was never any accountability, just excuses and finger pointing. Be patient I was told, give the new director of nursing and charge nurse time to get acclimated and implement the procedures. Instead of that happening, there was just a revolving door of both, each trying to reinvent the wheel without follow through. It got to the point where I didn't know where else to turn so, I contacted the state. That helped for a hot minute and then it was back to business as usual. Their mission statement "We strive to bring dignity, vibrance, and love to the lives of older individuals and the families we serve throughout the Midwest." My mom was not treated with dignity, I don't know how they sleep at night or are even able to continue to operate. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Frequent constipation and infections occur. The nursing staff doesn't return calls and in fact, after our family member died in Hospice Care, we never heard a word from anyone. After a few weeks there, we got hospice involved. We chose Compassionate Care because they already had a nurse coming to the facility on a daily basis. We mistakenly thought that this would mean that it would be a smooth transition. We were wrong! While the nurse was pleasant and was able to get equipment moved in in a timely manner, we were VERY disappointed that they did not communicate and coordinate the necessary pain relief medications our mother needed. There were unnecessary delays in obtaining and starting the drugs, and getting them up to a level where they actually did any good in relieving her pain. I literally had to INSIST that they up her dosage! Having gone through similar situations with our other elderly parents, my siblings and our spouses are agreed that we absolutely cannot recommend Compassionate Care - Amedisys to care for a loved one. A not-for-profit like Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie would be a much better choice, and they did an outstanding job 12 years ago for our father.

But after a week of good care, a serious staffing shortage occurred. Patients called for help in the night but no one came, keeping others from sleeping. One told us at breakfast (served 45 minutes late) that she lay in her urine for an hour and a half because no one came to help her get to the bathroom. Another patient said the aide for the evening was thinking of quitting because she had too many patients to care for due to other employees being absent. This could be a great place for rehab if staff levels could be kept adequate. But the shortage puts patients at risk.

However, they do take very good care of my mom and they strive to do their best. My mom has been in their care for one year. She came in on Rehab and it was determined after returning home for a very short time that she needed to be in LTC. She returned to Fran as a full time resident in May of 2018. I was hesitating whether or not to name caregivers who my mom talks about and whom I've witnessed give exceptional care, I really don't want the others to feel they are in anyway less appreciated. You all are a great team! Having said that, Cliff has been a Godsend. I work in an assisted living/memory care facility myself and I witness this young man just do so much right! He comes into her room and the 1st thing he does is get down to her level to talk to her. My mom has hallucinations and gets very scared and upset. She knows when Cliff is on, she is safe. He will take a moment to pray with her, to chase away whatever she is seeing and never ever laugh or make fun of her. ...and he always brings her fresh water (which she tell me about too). Then there is Hannah, one of her day nurses...Mom loves her "Haddie" as she calls her. "She's the only one who knows how to put my hearing aids in right" according to mom :-) And Rae, the evening nurse. When she is on, mom tells me "My Mother" is on tonight. That is not a bad thing! Mom says I can't make a move without her coming in to see if I'm alright.....Ummm, Mom, that's a good, attentive nurse. If she hears something fall she does run into the room, I've been there when she has done so. I'm convinced that woman can hear a pin drop. I also appreciate all the activity workers making sure she gets out and stays involved! So BRAVO Franciscan Place! Christine Brown
