I have been getting smog checks done here for approximately 5 years, but my recent 2 experiences with this company have deterred me from every using or referring anyone to them again. Be aware of the price they charge, some previous reviews show their price as 35, but their real price is $36.75 + $8.25 for the certificate totaling $45. The employer who does the smog is unprofessional and does not explain anything until you pay and sign their receipt contract. Make sure to get in writing before you sign or pay for anything that you will be given a free re-test (and the specified number of days you have to return for the retest). My car had failed the smog test, so the employer told me to drive it at least 40-400 miles and then to get the problems fixed. I drove it over 400 miles and took it to the mechanic to have the problems fixed. When I took it back to their smog shop 15 days later, the same employer said I have to repay for the whole smog check because it had been more than 10 days and he stated that is their policy and there is nothing he can do. When I expressed my unhappiness with the situation and that I had been a long time customer continued to show no interest. He then proceeded to remove my car from the smog machine and stated, "that his computer system had gone down." This was a terrible experience, I hope no one has to go through for such a simple smog check. I tried looking for another reputable shop in the area and I went to the costco tire center down the street who referred me to the mechanic shop in the same parking lot as the costco. They did a great smog. They did my great immediately upon arrival, charged me less than the brighside smog station, they also have a well-ventilated waiting area with a receptionist who is always at her desk, speaks very respectfully and is happy to answer all you questions. I rarely write reviews, but this horrible experience pushed me to the limit and I have been very honest throughout without any exaggeration of any of the facts. -Kind Regards read more

My husband asked me to take the car in for a smog check. I usually don't like to do anything that has to do with cars. I feel like I'm always getting hustled and ripped off. My husband reassured me this place wasn't going to do that. I came in early in the morning and there was no wait. I waited in the waiting room/office very clean with AC! Other places make you stand outside and wait. This place is a family owned business with great customer service and quality work. The smog check took about 15mins. Love the fast service! Just got my SMOG Test only from Brightside Smog today, and couldn't wait till I can get a hold of a PC to write this excellent review. The Smog technician was friendly and fast. I was in and out within 10 minutes. The pricing was great too! The shop itself is really clean, and there is a waiting room where customers and can sit and chill. Beats standing outside in the sun waiting for your car to get smog. Overall, this Smog Test only station is a great place to get your car Smog. I got my truck smogged and Jack was great. 20 minutes in and out. Brightside is right next to my work and was able to do it all on my lunch break. They have a nice waiting area with a vending machine and a tv. Plus the world cup was on and I ended up staying a little longer. read more

This place is awesome! Fast and attentive service. The owner was really friendly and had tons of information about how to maintain my car. You can tell he has lots of experience. I am currently driving a 97 CRV which is currently at 327K miles so you can imagine how much maintenance is needed to keep my car running. Since I am planning on keeping the car for a while, I was very appreciative of the tips he gave me on how to make the most of my car. WOW! $35 for a smog test. Saw atleast 5 cars before me and I thought I was going to wait for a long time but NO! I only waited for atleast 10 minutes and I was out just like that! Upon failing the smog test, I realized in reading the small print that I had 10 days, including Sundays and holidays to come back or I would have to pay the full price. I quickly realized how much of a rip off it was. Upon discussing the matter with the owner/technician, Tony H. aka Jack, he said, "He doesn't care!" and "He does not care about receiving a bad review!" Plus he does not have any knowledge about the problem with the car. At this point, I am letting the person who handled my car too quickly test my car and giving him my hard earned student cash. My car is EXTREMELY low, I was confident I was going to have to raise my car to get it smogged until I came by brightside smog. If you have a lowered car and need a smog check, this is the place to go without a doubt. My car has about 1 inch of clearance and it got smogged without any issues (we had to use wood blocks to get it out, but if youre car is lowered youre use to having to use wood blocks).
