My brother-in-law flipped his SUV one snowy trip from Iowa City to Chicago, and while he went to the hospital, the car ended up here. I drove down with his fiancée to rescue him (fortunately he was OK), and help take care of the car situation.
The car was totaled, but we needed to take a few pictures and salvage whatever contents we could. The whole process should have taken 5 minutes. However, the owner was eager to make money during a peak time, and left us waiting for hours for him to return to his garage. He wanted us to stay overnight, and possibly over the weekend. That was unacceptable to us, as we just wanted to get everyone back home. After much negotiation, we managed to get him to agree to possibly try and come back maybe and let us into the garage. I mean, I know he wants to make money, but we paid him. If the garage is too far from the interstate for it to be a burden to get back, that is not our fault.
Once he showed up, he was friendly enough, and didn't seem too grouchy. I have a feeling that the work dried up and that's the only reason he was back even that early.
I am grateful they towed the SUV and helped us out, but overall I wish that another tow company had ended up doing it instead. read more
