Our 3 kids attended a different Catholic school, and in 2008, we decided they weren't receiving the education they and we, as parents, felt they deserved. Well, they are getting it now! My eldest graduated St. Charles and entered high school with honors. Our two other kids are thriving as well, and when they slip a bit, the teachers are always willing to work with them to get them back on track! And its nice to know that the morals and values taught at home are extended in the teaching at St. Charles. But perhaps the best part of switching to St. Charles is when our kids actually THANKED us for sending them here! LOL..yep, that's the truth! The teachers are all attentive and very skilled educators. The school provides wonderful enrichment such as chess, tennis, and science - this is on top of the weekly school curriculum which includes Spanish, art and music classes. I also have to mention Principal Goethals - who is just the crème de la crème! She goes above and beyond to ensure the students feel safe and nurtured while also cultivating a great atmosphere for learning. We are very grateful for this terrific school and community!

Saint Francis de Sales is committed to fostering a sense of community that you don't find in many places around Los Angeles. They organize various events and initiatives that bring together students, parents, and teachers, creating a supportive network that extends beyond the classroom. SFDS encourages students to explore their imaginations, fostering a love for innovation and problem-solving. There is a lot of parent/teacher interaction and lots of opportunities for parents to get involved. Parents are informed of everything going on in the classrooms, including lists of what books are read and what they are learning each week. There is an amazing sand yard, where kids are encouraged to "get dirty," by making "rivers" and playing in the sand in creative ways. There is also a garden, where students get hands-on experience with gardening and composting. The main play yard has different "stations" set up each day, where students can choose on their own what interests them. Every day is different - there might be trains, blocks, art, books, water tables, dinosaurs, dollhouses, etc. set up. Each day is a new experience for the kids, yet there is routine, too. The grounds are EXTREMELY safe and the staff makes sure pick up is as smooth as possible. There is a parent committee, where parents can participate in planning fundraisers, as well as campus activities. There is a lot of interaction with the other parents in the children's rooms. The room parents often host get togethers and meetings and there are several meetings with the teachers throughout the year. At the end of the year, children receive a binder with artwork and "journals" from throughout the year. Photos that the teachers take all year are also included in the binders. Having tried some other preschools in Burbank, none can compare to Methodist.

My daughter now goes here and is in her first year with Mrs. Wernstrum and Miss Martin and she loves it! This school is play based and allow volunteers at any time. My favorite part of being a mom with a child that goes here is that I am able to help in the class, I like that classes are small enough to where I am close with my daughters teachers. They remain in very close contact and will contact you if there are any issues that need to be addressed. There is a lot about this little preschool that has stayed the same in the past 30 years, the wooden boat that stays in the play yard, the sand box, and the school still smells the same as it did the first day I stepped foot inside the school. I recommend this preschool to every single parent that is looking for a place for their child to have a wonderful learning environment. My kids rave about them, we do, other parents do as well... and the kids can feel that love which is just the best! The Westin community is such a great group of people who genuinely care. We've been a WestMin family since 2022 and can't say enough. It is the perfect place for kids to start to learn and play. When kids have a hard time with drop off they let you stay and make your child comfortable (if that is what you want) they don't push you to do things as they want, they let you make the choices for what is best for you and your child. They are flexible and understanding in a world that isn't always. We couldn't have been happier looking forward to next year when our youngest will start!! When a child no longer likes going to school because of their teacher, it is a major problem--and this isn't the first year we have had issues here. The fourth-grade teacher holds all children in during recess and lunch (which is illegal in many districts). She even tells the students she receives multiple emails from parents saying she is being 'mean,' yet she continues to hold them in class. Furthermore, the students are required to leave their backpacks and lunch bags outside. While these items are left unattended, other children walk by and steal from them. Despite multiple calls and emails to the principal to inform her of the teacher's behavior and the theft, nothing has been done. This is a serious problem."

The main staff like principal and all the T/A's are the same race so they look out for each other and nothing gets done unfortunately, had to move schools. It's unfortunate that this is happening even in elementary school but after talking to multiple parents and teachers it seems this things are learned at home and some homes aren't ready to change. Some of the things we dealt with constantly as well as other parents of color : "go back to Africa" "you're illegal" "go back to Mexico" and I'm keeping it PG. A lot of the time phrases were said in Armenian. I am not targeting any specific people, I am sharing my experiences and speaking factually. The school programs, etc are great and never had issues with that. Take it as you'd like but if you ever visit you will see I am not lying. God bless

It's great that it includes both middle and high school with a relatively small number of students, so everyone knows each other. There is no bullying, and there is a real sense of safety and responsibility. The teaching staff is excellent, and parents are actively involved in the life of the school and support its events and activities. I truly hope that Mr. Rosenthal remains the principal and that the school continues to thrive.

The program is highly rigorous and challenging (all students in the program are studying at highly advanced levels for science and math). The homework load can be overwhelming at times but there is a terrific support network to ensure that students stay on track. Our son has made great friends and loves his teachers. The academics are top notch. For the second consecutive year, The Science Academy was the number one school in the state of California with the highest scores among grades 6 through 8 in English, math and the English and math combination. For kids who love math and science and are up for the challenge, this is one of the best school options in LA.
