Normally have a good experience here but not the last time. Was told about braces and was told my insurance would cover 2000 of the projected 5300 and I'd be set up with a payment plan for the remaining balance. So I put half of 3350 down and would be paying 139.58 a month for 12 months. Fast forward a month later, I get an e-bill saying I owe 2675 instead of 1675. I call and they have to get back to me about what happened. This is unacceptable. I would NOT have gone through with the braces and everything if I knew I was being scammed into paying more than what was on the paperwork I received. I'm not made of money and the fact that the patients consistently are harassed with calls on a daily basis to come in is ridiculous. I feel as though I was scammed during this whole process. read more

I received a bill on April 26, 2023 for a dental service rendered back in Jan. 2022. I was told when I called that the previous billing accountant hadn't been informing patients of outstanding balances. The office manager and new billing accountant admitted the oversight was with many patients and they now want us to pay the bill. To find out over a year later that an outstanding balance is due is appalling. After voicing my concern with how this was handled, they reduced the amount of the bill. This post is to let patients now to be aware of this issue with Bright Side Dental Canton. I don't know how many people will be affected by these late bills. read more

My wife went in to have 1 infected tooth looked at- to be extracted, soon. The doctor wanted to pull 2 more teeth, along with the 1, and to replace her partials with dentures for $3,000. She suggested that my wife would be able to secure $700 with third party funding (2,300 out of pocket, ok) and a $108 (!) fee to fill out the form. My wife asked to just have 1 tooth treated/pulled for $298, but was pressured to choose the payment plan and have the tooth pulled immediately, while infected. She declined the plan and requested antibiotics and pain relief so we could come back AFTER the infection was at bay. Doctor "agreed," took down pharmacy information aaaand- never sent the prescriptions through. My wife said she was rushed to make a decision and couldn't understand why they wouldn't just focus on the infection and schedule a subsequent tooth-extraction, and instead, ushered her out after denying a third-party loan. She's going through it right now, and these people only care about their finance process. Does not seem honest. I will update if things change, but so far $35 spent on an inital visit was fruitless, disappointing and unprofessional. read more

The only gripe I have with this office is the EXTREMELY long wait times to change appointments! I was on hold for 12 minutes just to make a change to my appt time. K understand everyone is busy but as a patient that is a huge turn off! Five minutes is understandable but 12 mins is very EXCESSIVE! read more

Pretty disappointed with my recent cleaning appointment. Hygienist took X-Rays and gum length measurements but did not care to discuss anything about it. Did not talk at all advising or cautioning on anything. Hygienist seemed in a hurry and did not even polish my teeth correctly. We found this place online via Google. They take my dental insurance through UHC, so we set up an appointment and showed up at their doorstep. My wife needed some major tooth related work done and I did not want to take her to the old Accurate Dental Care in Belleville who messed up my tooth 2 years ago. We had tried Sunrise Family Dental on Sheldon Road in Canton, and their doctors are excellent, specially Dr. Hoffner, but they were quite pricey as well. Even after my insurance covered the basic cleanings I got charged $50 extra. So we again looked around online, and found this place. So far so good. New building, nice friendly and professional staff, and they are willing to work with you financially as well. They even have their very own Care Credit Card that helps you take care of your teeth first and worry about payments at a more leisurely rate. So far we are fans of this place. Now even I may go set myself up for a cleaning instead of sitting here and Yelping. Never hurts to have a nice clean mouth!!! read more

The Great (up until April 20 2020): Now I know the reason my 11 year old daughter smiles when she is going to the dentist (before and after). I have been taking her to Bright Side Dental for years since living in Canton. Being a doting dad I sit there in the treatment room for each of her 6 month visits since she was a real young sprite. She has had cleanings (and even fillings) and each time she and I are so thoroughly impressed. The hygienists have been so calming and that means a lot to an anxious young one (and even more to her dad). Now... The Extraordinary (April 21 2020): The Backstory: On Friday, April 17th 2020 I went to one of Bright Side Dental's competitors (LifeTime Dental) on Cherry Hill and Canton Center Road in Canton. And for some reason I also went there for my previous work (cleanings, fillings) even though my daughter goes to Bright Side Dental and has had great experiences (noted above). Maybe because it is literally a mile away from my house (shame on me if that is the reason as this is important dental health we are talking about). Trust me before I get detailed about my experience (as I am not a complainer by nature). Anyway, saw Dr. David Kam who apparently is the lead dentist as I had severe pain in one of my teeth (with the beginning of an infection). I will keep it short. The needless poking and prodding (causing further pain in which I had to push his had away thee different times) was a red flag. Then to when I notified him I will be going to urgent care on Monday, April 20th because the pain was so still too great (with only a curt, "let me know how it goes" response from him) to not even knowing what medication he gave me the first time (even though I was in the office and even forwarded the new medication given to me through urgent care). Not too mention the 8 minutes (till 9:08 AM) I was outside in the cold on April 21 waiting them to open up the actual doors for my 9:00 AM appointment. That is a dental office issue (not the doctor's). He lacked personal confidence on the initial visit on the 17th & again in the follow up. Anyway, during the appointment and after moving his hand away as he poked in the area of the severe painful tooth and then just sitting behind me doing Lord knows what for minutes and minutes I actually just walked out. It was so bizarre I bee-lined it to Bright Side Dental (the first place to come to mind as it was the place I take my most precious gift (daughter) in the world to). The difference at Bright Side Dental was immediate. I moved from a darker, dank LifeTime Dental to a really bright, pleasant, reassuring Bright Side Dental. The receptionist was so polite. I apologized profusely saying, "I know it is an emergency and can come back if I can't be seen right away," She was so friendly and said, "I know you are in pain and we will see you now." I was pretty emotional (not outwardly) as I wasn't treated very competently or compassionately the last 5 days. Then it gets better!! The dental hygienist (Heidi) was amazing & astonishing. She literally broke down the procedures and options (bridge vs implant) because my tooth was going have to be extracted. She literally had diagrams to show what what each entailed and referred to them frequently. Heidi was simply exemplary and extraordinary in breaking the technical aspects of what will happen at that moment and months to come. I am a special education math teacher (for emotionally impaired students) and Heidi absolutely has the pertinent qualities of a caring professional--empathetic, knowledgeable & calm/patient). I won't get into how so pretty she was too (lol). Met with the dentist a few times once I was admitted as he came and checked on me several times during my x-ray and set up with Heidi. His name is Dr. Bonds. Even though I was in pain (which he quickly helped medically) he made me laugh so consistently and took my mind off things. His personable and affable demeanor is what is so needed in a dentist--and the fact he is so good at his graft--pulling the tooth that had a vertical crack and adding a bone graft there after. During the whole time I was astonished in the night and day treatment I had received literally in a few hours. From a impersonal, non-confident dentist (Kam with LifeTime Dental) to a gregarious, master-of-his-craft dentist in Dr. Bonds. Everyone in Canton (even in Plymouth, Livonia, Belleville--all those surrounding areas) I stake my reputation (as a parent and actual patient) that the difference between the quality of patient care is tremendous between these two dental offices a mere 2 miles apart (in Canton on Canton Center Road). Don't just make the mistake (and feel like a number) when it comes to your dental care. Because the true difference is when you are in desperate need and need emergency care. BEWARE!!! Will try charging you for things you don't need.... Went through teeth giving them all 1 to 3 ratings, then said he "read them wrong" and gave 4+'s after.... One time I got a text reminder from them about my appt. date and time. And when I showed up there, they said I wasn't scheduled. I told them that I even got a text reminder from them and they thought I was wrong. They squeezed me in, but the Dr. didn't even see me to check how my teeth were. So I had to wait another 6 weeks for my appt. so I'm totally I waited 12 weeks for them just to tightened my braces!!! They said it would be around 2 years to have braces, but it's been 4 almost 5 years. Still hasn't changed. The Dr. seems like he rushing with every patient. I wouldn't come here for ortho. They misinformed me that I needed a second appointment with in a month, because my gums are bad, and treatment is needed. They charged me $150+ for the second appointment. I was surprised on the second appointment all they did just polish with some mint paste!! I was not expecting that. Geee... I never go there again. I prefer honest doctors. read more

I don't usually right yelp reviews but I was very pleased with the service I received from bright dental clinic. My husband teased me of how much I'm going to suffer from pain. Dr Omar and his assistant zena we're extremely friendly. It's hard to find a good quality dentist but this is exactly what they have here. My kids went in for cleaning and had a wonderful visit. The entire staff were great. They explained everything to my kids even though there developmentally delayed. They didn't treat them different. I could not recommend this office enough. read more

I went in for a cleaning....and although I have never missed an appointment I was told that if I didn't respond to the text reminding me of my appointment time that my appointment would be canceled next time. She also said I would be charged I explained to her that I didn't have my phone but I was waiting for my new phone to come in the mail and I showed up... that reminders are just that....but she said well I just want you to know that if you don't answer a text that we will cancel your appointment the next time. Well guess what there won't be a next time. the other two receptionist turned to stare at her when she was being rude to me with a lobby full of people. I didn't mention the 10 minute cleaning was awful and she missed two of my back teeth flossing, also I said no X-rays since I had them 6 mos ago, but they did them anyway stating my insurance pays so why not?? How about I had just gone radiation therapy?! This place is full of children with attitudes. The dental assistance response was...oh well it won't hurt u then. Thanks radiation physic person. What a scary crew. Also... no thyroid sheild. I'm a registered tech, these people scare me. Don't go here, it's a rude scam. read more

I found this facility online following a crown that fell off late on a Friday afternoon. I was quoted $35 for an exam and full xrays. When I arrived one of the first questions asked of me was do I plan on coming back there if I need work done? Why would that matter??? They charged me an additional $56 to temporary cement back on the crown. And by temporary I mean just that, it didn't even last 24 hours! Of course they also recommend a root canal at ONLY $1500 and new crown at ONLY $1320. When I called to complain about the $50 glue job not even lasting through the weekend, the office manager said "well that was explained to you that could happen" and it didn't stick because you need a root canal! I went to my regular dentist today and he said I DO NOT NEED a root canal and he cemented it back on for $30. Beware of the old bait and switch with this facility!!!!! read more

I would recommend this place. I have been a customer for almost 5 years. The last 2 years have been on a downward turn. I got my braces here with Dr. Adams. They have very poor communication. There have been situations when I have come in for an appointment and he is not there. No one bothered to call me ahead of time. Most recently I went in to get a cleaning and new retainer. I was told the retainer would be ordered and schedule a follow up appointment in just one week. The following week I show for my retainer and it is not there. No one bothered to call me before to let me know. It was a 45 min drive for nothing. I schedule another appointment for another week out. Then the following week I get a call 1 hour before my scheduled time to pick up my retainer and they tell me it has not come in yet . It has been almost 3 weeks at this point. After telling the office assistant and manager I want my money back and I will go to another place to get a retainer they tell me I can pick up my retainer tomorrow. When I pick up the retainer it is still not what I ordered. I had a spring retainer. The retainer they ordered does not meet my needs. Nobody explained why I have another type of retainer to me. I would not recommend this place. I will NEVER return. It's unfortunate because I was a loyal customer. read more

My experience with Bright Side was in May 2015. I should have reviewed earlier to warn the other people complaining about the same thing. Came in for a routine teeth cleaning. First time there, I had no toothache or sensitivity at the time, and they praised me for taking such good care of my teeth since it had been a couple years since I even went for a cleaning (not a huge fan of dentists). The dentist found a "questionable" dark spot on my dental x-rays, left lower molar. It was previously crowned but he convinced me it needed to get replaced so he could clean up that dark spot underneath. My ins only pays 50℅ of major work but since I can't come up with $929 (my 50%) on the spot, "no problem", they said, "you can get Care Credit", it felt really pushy to me, they had everything pulled up on the IPAD for me to sign up, which I was reluctant to do, I'm in the process of credit repair and closed out many cards about 5 years ago. I didn't want a new line of credit, I couldn't afford a new line of credit, especially for something that I wasn't in pain with. But, trusting the dentist that he knows what's best, I complied. Big mistake. The next appt was a very long wait, I was there for 2-3 hrs to get my crown replaced. They also had charged an extra $267 for a white filling (huh?). The temporary crown was a joke. It not only came off within 48 hrs, It broke to pieces in my mouth while eating cereal. Of course it happens on a Sunday and so I rush to drug store to look for any kind of temporary fix until I can get back to dentist. Had to go back next day after work. Got another temporary. Dreaded going back again to get my permanent crown, my gums in that area were very sore/inflamed and I started to avoid drinking hot/cold beverages on that side. Had sensitivity starting and still continues to this day. Never had problems before the dentist started messing with it, now it's a daily reminder that I should have trusted my instinct and never agreed to get this done. Finally, went to another dentist a couple months ago, this time I looked up reviews and found a highly rated 5 star one in Plymouth. They cleaned my teeth and took dental x-rays, the exact same crown shows a HUGE black mass festering underneath. The dentist was also perplexed by the crown that came from Bright Side. He said there was a filling on the crown and that he needs to refer me to a root canal specialist to get it fixed. I just settled with Care Credit last month from the 2 charges Bright Side made (I never used CC for anything else). They failed to tell me at Bright Side that I only had a certain amount of time to pay off Care Credit before I got slammed with deferred interest charges. They only told me it was interest free. I ended up having to pay $1800 to them for those charges made by Bright Side which were around $1200. Yup. Totally regret that. The worst part of this??? THE WORK WAS NEVER DONE CORRECTLY SO NOW I HAVE TO GET A ROOT CANAL ON THE SAME CROWN THAT BRIGHT SIDE HACKED THAT INITIALLY DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER ME AT THE TIME. But this place will always find "something" wrong when you come in for a routine cleaning/check up, and if you can't afford it, they will eagerly sign you up with CARE CREDIT. I was thoroughly disappointed with Brightside Dental. My appointment was among the first scheduled in the morning, at 8:30am (when they opened) on a Saturday. However, I did not get taken back into a room until 9:15 -- and this was after 45 minutes of sitting in an overcrowded waiting room (there are only 10 chairs and probably 20 people were trying to squeeze in the front entrance). I understand that Saturdays are probably really busy due to people's work schedules during the week, but come on! There was obviously no organization, like they had booked 20 people for 4 exam rooms at the same time. When I was finally taken to an exam room, the first thing I noticed was how disgusting the floors looked, like they had not been swept or cleaned all week (remember, mine was among the FIRST appointments of the day!). I did not even want to set my purse on the floor. I waited in the dental chair for another 15 minutes for the orthodontist to show up. When he came in, he appeared scattered and unprepared - the first thing he asked was "what's your name?" I told him my name and he said, "oh, good, I have the right chart then" (not exactly the way I have been trained to greet patients in my profession in the healthcare field...). He then sat down and said, "so, you're here for some braces?" NO - not at all the reason for my visit. I had braces a decade ago and just came in to discuss possibly options for a new retainer. I don't think the guy even looked at my chart before he saw me! The discussion thereafter was very unhelpful. I asked several questions and got runaround answers. Then, he suggested we take a mold of my teeth that day and set up another appointment. When I said I wanted to think about my options first, he was shocked and appeared offended. He said something like, "You're just going to give your teeth more time to move if you wait and think about it" and "I hope the cost doesn't go up while you think about it". Upon leaving, I was not directed where to go and there are no signs indicated where to check out. Both clerks were on the phone and when I waited until they were free and tried to ask what to do I was given a curt response. WOW. I bought a groupon for this Dentist. I expected to get a quick cleaning, one or two x-rays and a quick exam-or have them tell me I needed all kinds of work done. I was very pleasantly surprised!! I got a FULL set of x-rays -not just regular -but the one where you stand and the machine goes around your head!!! The cleaning was very thorough and painless-which I was dreading because it has been several years( without ins.) since my last cleaning. The Doctor and the staff were very friendly. I made my 6 mos. appt. and will be happy to go! read more

I love this place. Dr. Hall and her assistants are awesome! They listen to your concerns and are willing to go above and beyond what a dentist does. I have dentures and was able to talk to someone at 11:30 pm because I chipped a tooth. This office was able to get me in the next morning and Dr. Hall fixed my tooth you can't even tell which one it was. I am very private about not letting people know I have dentures and she understood and did not make me feel uncomfortable. The girls at the front desk are awesome too, they worked with me and I was able to get a new pair and I love the way they look. Having a little issues with the bottom plate but Dr. Hall is fixing it for me. I would highly recommend this office. read more
