I hired Elton/Bright Electric to install an outlet midway up a wall to accommodate a mounted TV, as well as putting together and installing 2 ceiling fans where none had previously existed. Finally, his staff helped identify two outlet issues in my home that were overlooked by my home inspector. The price was fair and the work was done well. His staff also did a great job with the ceiling fans. Further, when the switches I had gotten were incompatible, they went out to the hardware store for me, which really helped!!! They were great. They even fielded some of my dumb questions when I called after installation, and they were kind and helpful. The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was that Elton's guys left some small parts (cut wire pieces) on the floor that my very young children could have gotten ahold of. I wish I could give Bright Electric 10 stars. We've used them (and Elton) for 2 jobs now in the process of moving in to a new home and had 2 very different experiences, but both were very positive. First, when selling our townhome, the buyer requested a necessary change to the wiring and breaker for our A/C. Previous to this, we weren't aware there was an issue, but committed to fixing it. I contacted Elton via e-mail and described the issue and sent pictures. He gave me a run down of his costs and a general estimate range. He was on time and worked quickly, while still explaining everything and ensuring that we had the documentation necessary for our buyer. Then he managed to come in at the low point of the estimate. It was such a good experience we wanted to use him for some electrical issues at our new house. So when I spoke to Elton concerning our new home (detached single) I indicated that there were several outlets that needed to be changed to GFI and 3 lighting fixtures I wanted to replace, but also said I was considering additional outlets in the kitchen and wanted to get an indoor switch installed for one of the outlets for outside the house that had to be replaced. Elton came out and not only gave us a reasonable estimate, but also walked me through all of the electrical aspects of my current house so I'd know more about it. Since it was going to be a short job (4 hours or less) and a very reasonable price, we decided to let Elton do the work. This job turned out to be way worse than projected, through no fault of the estimate. Once the previous light fixtures (installed by the previous home owner) were removed, it was discovered there would have to be some major issues corrected to get the new lights installed up to code. This took several hours and additional materials more than what was originally estimated. Then when installing the GFI outlets (about 9 total, I think) one outlet turned out to be very tricky. The lights look great, the switch is great, the outlets look great, and Elton stayed with us until 9:30 at night to get the job done. There was some additional charge for the extra time and material, but it was nowhere near what the cost should have been, because Elton didn't want to charge us way over what was estimated. We paid a little more than was asked because that was still a discount over what we could have been charged and because we felt bad. We got a walk through of all the work done and how everything would work moving forward. If we ever have additional electric work to be done, I will be contacting Bright Electric and would recommend them to anyone looking for an honest, hard-working electrical contractor. read more

I found out about this company from one of my neighbors at the begging of summer. He had them doing some home theater wiring and installation in his basement. We were invited when done to watch a movie and got their business cards. They were residential and commercial licensed electricians. Last month we needed to add some more lights at our business in Oak Park. I got two estimates from local services and gave Bright Eletric a call too. Tony, the owner made time and came the next evening to look at what we needed, and was very professional, taking notes and checking everything from the fuse box to the switches and examine all the old fixtures. He called me the next day with the details. I liked it because was different from other estimates, who suggested to add a whole new lines and switches and breaking the walls and making it seem so difficult! His project was designed to use the existing switches and only use an extension pipe to make a connection to another box and it was it. Half the price of other estimates, with a simpler solution!
