I had my wedding make up and hair done by Rena and her assistant Nyrelle. I loved my make up and hair. It was perfect. I was worried that it would be too much or too little make up. But the pictures turned out perfectly. The lashes that I used for my trial were discontinued but Rena was creative and recreated the exact same look with other ones she had. I had Rena do my mom's make up too. My mom never wears make up so she was worried that it would be too much for her but she really liked her make up. All my bridesmaids and my MIL looked beautiful as well. And everyone's make up stayed on till the end! They were on time and very communicative. I also liked the touch up kit that Rena gave me. Had a little bit of the lip color, gloss, powder and pins. Definitely recommend! read more

We had such a great experience with Bright Crystal, in particular Rena and Savannah, and would highly recommend them. First, they are incredibly talented. Their style is classic, soft glam. I loved that I still felt like myself, just elevated. I definitely recommend doing a trial. Savannah was so sweet throughout the process and was very open to feedback and adjustments, so it felt exactly right on the day. Beyond their talent, they are just genuinely amazing human beings. They were kind, calm, and so accommodating throughout the entire wedding day. We had a guest with medical needs and they were flexible and thoughtful in adjusting the timeline. Rena also made a point to make sure her chair was a quiet, calming space for me away from the chaos. I definitely needed that to de-stress right before the wedding! I highly recommend Bright Crystal Studio for doing hair and makeup for weddings! Rena did my hair and makeup in about 2 hrs and was able to cover up my tattoos using this spray that did not stain my dress. She also was able to give me the natural look like I requested for makeup. She was also able to tell what hairstyle would look good on me and had really good tools to speed up the process. I was very happy with the results! read more

Bright Crystal Wedding Team: Rena, Lily, Oono and Erica were the hair and makeup artists for my wedding for myself and bridesmaids. They were all absolutely amazing. I chose Rena to do my hair as she was excellent at it. She did updo for ceremony and then she did all hair down style with curls. I looked and felt amazing. Especially after having different trials, she was the best. She also did makeup and hair for my bridesmaid and mother of groom. Her team did hair and makeup. My bridesmaids looked beautiful. Very late review of this make up studio I stumbled on Yelp. I booked myself to this studio for make-up only for last year's corporate party. They were located near the BOA at Downtown Torrance. Studio was really small but it was clean and well lighted. It's a shame I don't remember at the moment the name of the young lady who did my make up but she was nice, soft spoken, and explained every step she did. She did a wonderful job, had compliments during the party :-)....nah no uploading of pictures of myself though ha ha! Unfortunately, they moved their studio in Hawthorne, farther drive for me. Will book again next corporate party! Oh and her name is Lily! read more

Rena exceeded my expectations, my wedding day hair was flawless! I was in need of a bridal hairstylist for my wedding last minute (2 months before my wedding). I found Bright Crystal Wedding online, and after reading reviews on yelp, contacted Rena. She did a consultation on FaceTime, and I felt confident enough to book her. Her pricing was VERY reasonable, which is hard to find in the Los Angeles area, and more importantly, the photos of her work on other brides was stunning. I was confident she would do an excellent job. She was very prompt on my wedding day and I looked amazing! She also did hair for my friend, and it turned out fabulous! Bridal hair can be stressful to book, and hard to trust someone when booking online, however Rena made my experience a breeze! I finally found a great hair and makeup artist in the area!! One that knows how to style my long hair and one who doesn't make me look like a completely different person after applying makeup. I had an event to go to and since family pictures were going to be taken I needed help with hair and makeup. I was able to get an appointment with Rena. Well let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised. It was better than I expected. Everyone complimented my makeup. Rena did an excellent job and I think she's very talented. The lashes were perfect and nothing she used bothered my skin nor eyes for the whole night. I was there for more than a couple hours because I have a lot of hair and the time flew right by. Bright Crystal Studio did the hair and make up for me and my bridesmaid on my wedding day and I'm so glad I chose them!! I can't recommend the studio enough - both for their work and also for how wonderful, nice, and friendly the entire team is. Rena has studied cosmetology in both Japan and the United States, so she offers a wide range of make up styles. My family is from China/Taiwan, so I loved that Rena could do a hair and make up style that reflected more of the styles popular there and that suited me personally more. I don't normally wear make up or do my hair, so she had to do a lot of work tweezing my eyebrows, trimming loose hair strands (of course all with my permission), and overall just using her good judgment in how to do my hair and make up because I honestly had no idea how to do anything. She was truly amazing and also really nice to work with. I couldn't even recognize myself because the hair and make up looked so good, and everyone at my wedding could not say enough good things. We didn't want to start super early on the day of the wedding, so Rena and her team were super accommodating to us starting a bit later (9 AM). We decided to do hair and make up at their studio since we were staying close by, and their studio is a wonderfully clean and bright space. Originally Rena and her team were going to do hair and make up for us in pairs, but since we had arrived all at the same time, I appreciated that they rotated through hair and make up with all of us so that my bridesmaids weren't sitting around for a long time with nothing to do. They were also flexible with us bringing snacks and coffee so that we wouldn't be hungry. She also gave the maid of honor a tutorial for how to put in my veil, and she as a great video on youtube for how to do it as well. I had my wedding at Wayfarers Chapel, and if anyone knows about the venue, they know there are a lot of rules and time constraints. It was a plus that Rena has worked extensively at the chapel as an artist, and so she gave extra tips like exactly how to position my hair piece so that it would look good during the ceremony. I would recommend the studio to anyone looking for AMAZING hair and make up for any event! read more

First time hiring a professional make up artist and it was not the best experience. First of all, I was asked to give inspo to what makeup looks I want to go for in which I showed the make up artist. I got the complete opposite look. Image provide was a natural look and I got a Smokey look instead. Secondly, I never got a chance to look at my makeup until I went back to the room. The makeup artist didn't show me a mirror or asked me if anything needs to be fixed or changed. She quickly moved on to the next person. I had to fix my makeup afterward because there were patches on my cheeks, mascara smudge all over my under eye and lash glue inner corner of my lower eyelid. With a dark shadow look, you would think my brows would be darker but nope. It was super light so I had to fix it to my liking. Lastly, for paying $150+ (including early morning fee + travel fee) per person, I was expecting a good experience. If I knew this was the result, I would've just done a simple makeup myself. read more

This was my first time having my makeup done professionally. The beauty studio is located within Joey Ikemoto's studio, and he recommended them to us since we chose him for our photos. I initially spoke to Rena to set up the appointment for myself and my mom. On the day of, I was a bit anxious, especially since I'm not used to having someone do my face and hair, and I had broken out from stress that week. This was the absolute WORST makeup studio I have ever been to. Not worth 150/ per person, not even worth 10$. I don't know how this place has good reviews. 6 of us went in before a wedding (including the bride). First of all, the lady kept forgetting what she has to do for my face and I had to remind her. She only did my winged eyeliner on one side and forgot the other. How is that possible? She accidentally rubbed off part of my left eyebrow and was about to let me walk out the door until I asked her to fix it. She put eyeshadow on my tear duct area and the powder fell onto my nose and mouth and she didn't wipe it off. Everything was caked on. They used cheap foundation that was white. Second, the technique was not professional AT ALL (as pictured). My eyeliner was so uneven and the bottom liner makes it look I got punched in the face. They sprayed foundation onto the brides hair and left it there. The hairstyling fell apart 20 minutes after walking out. The worst part is this fiasco almost ruined the wedding. We legitimately got back to the bride's hotel room and washed everything off and reapplied everything ourselves. It was as if a middle scholar did our makeup. The bride hated her makeup and hair so much that she was crying/so upset and it broke our hearts. Fixing our makeup made us an hour late going the chapel, and the chapel was threatening to cancel the ceremony. We got no pictures before the wedding. TLDR: DO NOT GET YOUR MAKEUP DONE HERE. You will be out $$$ to look cheap. Sorry if this is mean, but it's the truth. read more

Honestly, I almost feel bad because Nikki would explain to me the process in detail and I would be clueless and just nodding my head since this was my first time and I got no clue about being blonde along with the technical terms included in the process of doing it. She knew this and changed her way of explaining so that I could understand it better. Haha. Things I learned was 1 close my eyes when they're rinsing off the bleach, 2 also close my eyes when I'm on the dryer with the bleach and 3 take all the stretch breaks that's offered. There's always a first time for everyone. The results were amazing!! I was nervous, scared and excited because it was a big change but also I didn't know if the color was gonna match me. She assured me that it would look great and it takes a lot to say something like that because that just meant that she knew what she was doing and it was true. Experience was great! She also fixed my chunky haircut and made it more streamlined which ultimately shaped it up to look amazing. We also did a trial run of curls to see how long it would hold if I decided to get it done a day before my nurse graduation this month. I gave it more chance by washing and drying the day after, but it's overall disappointing. I had mentioned a few times I want to keep it longer like the picture I showed, but it wasn't heard. I couldn't say much more once the stylist made the very first snip and had to go along with it. It became even shorter by the end. I wish the stylist had been more proactive about the consultation before proceeding with the cut. I got an impression that the stylist wanted to get through the hair cut session as a quickly as possible. This was for upcoming graduation, so it is more disappointing. Again, very nice lady. Not too sure if it's just one time issue!

I went in to get a perm and cut…read more The vibe was very nice. Very respectful. His space was very clean and tidy with what seems, state of the art tools. I have had fine hair all my life, but even still my hair has always taken well to perms, always. Even the last one over a year ago. The only complaint I had was the use of larger rods which made my hair more wavy curl than curly. Nori had said that my hair wouldn't take well to a perm, but because I know my hair's history, I asked him do it anyway and he agreed to do it. First he used a more gentle solution because of my pervious perm over a year ago (did not ask if I wanted that), and I didn't know until he was already in the process of using it on my hair... my hair needs the stronger solution. Second he did a loose curl wrap instead of a tight curl wrap. With fine hair (or at least my hair) it needs to be curled up against the scalp. I think he did this because it was a hot treatment perm (which I never had before) vs a cold treatment perm. He didn't give an option. So the perm came out ok on the bottom because it already had the previous perm that was there from a year ago. But the top part of my hair had virtually no difference. If you have fine hair and looking to get a perm, I would not recommend Nori. I'm sure he does really well with all other hair services. To his credit, the perm itself, aside from the lack of curl, was a healthy perm (did not harm my hair) and he did give a very nice cut prior to the perm process. I think if he would have explained his treatment process and how it differed from what I had previously experienced, that may have helped my decision to go elsewhere, before wasting over $200 I had taken a year 1/2 to save. Again I think he probably does really well with the other services he provides. I just think for women (or men) with fine hair, you may want to think twice if you're looking to get a perm.

Of course, I turned to Yelp for the scoop and zeroed in on Ms. Glen's Therapeutic Manicures & Pedicures. I finally got a chance to go see Ms. Glen and it was everything I wanted and more. It was relaxing (I fell asleep)! It was restorative! My feet felt and looked healthy and cared for. I didn't get polished which is great because I have been wanting to go natural for a while to let my nails breathe and focus on what's really happening with my toe nail health. So may things I loved (in no particular order): - Very communicative from the appointment (via phone) to the confirmation and directions (via text) - Ms. Glen greeted me at the door - The studio smells divine (really sets the tranquil mood) - The studio was intimate (just me - yay) - The space was very clean (I am a stickler for clean) - There was a complimentary water waiting on me - Ms. Glen has developed her own techniques and products which speaks to her dedication and specialization (I love people who are passionate about what they do!) - Every step of the treatment was appreciated! (very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. I also left with one of Ms. Glen's therapeutic hand and foot oils in Lemon. She makes the oils herself! It smells so good and leaves a refreshing but not overpowering scent. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. My goal is to make this a regular treatment. If my feet are healthy, I am healthier! Thanks Ms. Glen for such a wonderful experience! I'll be back. And thanks again for the massage therapist recommendation. Rest and recovery, here I come!

If your feet are in need of TLC, renewal and restoration, Ms. Glen has a carefully curated service that will leave your feet feeling brand new. I had recently purchased a soap that helps with skin discoloration. It hasn't been making any improvement in the uneven skin tone and dark marks on my feet. Turns out I just needed an appointment with Ms. Glen. The exfoliation she provided literally rubbed away 15 years from my feet. My dry scratchy heels were left supple and smooth and the calloused areas were left soft. Had I known what I was in store for I would have taken before and after pictures. She even provided socks for me to leave in, to seal in the moisture. My favorite part hands down was the massage. She kneaded into these tired soles, and I needed that! I paid a little more than the price listed (which she does quote as a base price) but she also spent almost 2x the amount of time listed. My Fiancé noticed the difference in appearance and feel immediately. I intentionally waited until 24 hours+ had passed to write this review, wanting to see if my feet would feel just as nice. THEY DO!! Ms. Glen definitely puts pride in her work and I love how she checked in throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied along the way. I recommend her service to anyone looking to give their feet a more youthful feel and look. And if your feet have severe issues that might keep you from visiting open public salons, her private suite will help you feel comfortable and secure. Right before I left, Ms. Glen threw in a bottle of her therapeutic hand & foot oil once she saw how dry my hands were. I had discussed my upcoming nuptials with her and she wanted to make sure my hands moisturized properly for my big day, even providing a demonstration on proper application. Ms. Glen is a gem!
