That's why often when a neon signs stop working or the glass breaks, they just get pitched in the dumpster. Then has to be a special sign when the repair costs more than the sign. Mine was. Called and explained mine would flash for a second and go out. Immediately diagnosed as a faulty transformer and given a price to replace. I drop off the sign and away we go. No communication until I follow up a couple of weeks later and I'm told yep transformer but also some neon needs to be replaced and the price is nearly double the initial quote if I proceed. Of course right... I know when I switched that sign on 20 times, trying to get it to work, the whole thing lit up. I was told you'd only see it if it stayed on and to be fair they did offer to send me a photo to show me (it didn't come through but they tried). At this point we negotiated to a price between what I was told initially and the higher price so that was fair. I go to pick up the sign and there are two transformers and two plugs, basically the old one was not broken just not powerful enough to drive the entire sign. I asked about the two plugs and was told common for large signs. My sign is a lakefront brewery beer sign. I have four other brewery signs in my garage and none of them has two plugs. This matters to me because one you didn't do what you said, which was replace the old transformer with a more powerful one that powers the entire sign. Second while two plugs maybe doesn't matter to some, I have many things plugged in so outlet space is a premium. They suggested I just buy an adapter and plug them both into it, but honestly while of course that will work, that's not really a professional repair I paid $185 for... to summarize when my sign broke and I emailed Lakefront Brewery to see if they had a repair contact, Russ emailed me back saying it's just not worth it.
