I'm not sure if there are multiple parking lots, but the one we parked in was quite small but still had a few open spaces. Overall, would definitely consider coming back here, especially on my own so I can walk around and explore a bit more.

I stopped by this park yesterday afternoon to wear out my kids on the playground. I was stunned…read morethat the playground was completely empty and all to us! The playground equipment was all brand new and the area was mostly enclosed with a fence. Within this space, the play equipment is appropriate for kids 5 to 12 years old. The floor of the play area is rubberized for safety. There's a super tall slide that you have to climb up via webbed ropes (so not very easy for smaller kids unless they are avid climbers). The slide is not for super tall people. It has sharp turns inside it that cause you to knock against the sides as you go down (I know from experience). It also caused my 4.5-year-old daughter to lose one of her shoes two times she slid down. There's a giant spider-web-like climbing area for kids to play on, as well. There are a couple of benches for parents to sit on as they watch their kids. There is a smaller area off to the side for kids 2 to 5 years old that has sand, multiple spring riders (an animal, an airplane, and a car), a small Yogi-Bear see-saw, and a small slide with steps (though the steps are a bit steep). It's disappointing that this area is not fenced in - especially since it's for younger kids who tend to wander. Luckily, there's a bathroom facility building across from the playground and next to the tennis courts. There are two stalls inside the ladys' room, one sink, and a heated blow dryer. Outside the bathroom, there's a handy water-bottle-filling station. There's also a dog run area (next to the parking area that you enter from on Wade Avenue) with benches, trash cans, and a dog waste station. If you want to host a party or picnic, there's a picnic shelter you can rent for $12 an hour (it has 6 tables and can host anywhere from 36 to 60 people). There are 2 tennis courts that have push-button lighting that works from dusk to 10 pm year-round. If you like Sand Volleyball, there are 6 lighted volleyball courts to choose from (they are first-come, first-served). On Tuesday and Thursday nights during league play, courts 1-4 are unavailable from 6 to 11 pm. There are 2 softball fields and a youth baseball field. I highly recommend this park if you have kids!

Dix Park is well loved for a reason! My husband and I…read morereally enjoyed walking and finding all the trolls! They were huge and eat had their own funky personality. It was also fun to see other folks enjoys the trolls and park too. It took us about 1 hour to see all the trolls. Some of them are by each other but if you want to see them all, there is some walking. Even if some of the hammocks could use some repair, the hammocks in the park were so fun to sit and lay on, especially after all the steps we got in. Looks like there is always some type of event or two going on here so I definitely recommend looking that up online before to make your visit even more enjoyable. I wish I did more research on parking because I ended walking around all over. Also there is two dog park, the old dog park and the new dog park. But it was still fun! Always a good time there! Definitely wished I lived closer to Dix Park.

We enjoyed the hammocks set between two trees - and there were many of them. The trolls were fun. They each had names, and a QR code to read their stories. Other visitors offered pieces to the puzzle. One even visited Charlotte, NC, where I believed she talked about the grandmother, but it's a tree instead of a troll. Anyway, good strolls, lots of sun, and it was fun watching the dogs at the dog park. Plan on a couple of ours in search for the trolls. Or, do that, and picnic under the trees or pavilions. There are shuttles so you can park in one area, and then visit another.

The volleyball court was looking good today as was the basketball court. The baseball field is marked off this time of year (mid-December) to allow the grass to regrow. My husband said the bathrooms were heated which was pretty cool. The park is right next to Lynn elementary and there is a ton of grass and walking areas around, including a soccer field. I think there was a basketball court as well but don't quote me on that. It's a great place to take your dog for a long stroll without feeling as crowded as some trails like Shelley lake can be.

So I took the privilege of adding it myself and attaching some great photos. This park is fairly big. It includes 3 separate playgrounds for kids, one being more slides and swings for the babies with sand. Also, a one hoop basketball court, a soccer and/or football field? A small baseball field with a ring around which I saw a gentleman running on. Lastly, a sidewalk on the perimeter of the park for a long walk. They have a hut with picnic tables and I believe I saw a BBQ pit. Very dog friendly. Will be coming back for a picnic one of these days.
