The Empty Space is one of my favorite places to be in Bakersfield.. Scratch that. The Empty Space…read moreis one of my favorite places to be period. I've caught at least a dozen shows here since finding out about this local gem in high school. From musicals to plays, every show has been amazing. They can make me crack up laughing, want to boogie on down with them during a dance break, and maybe even shed a tear. I can confidently say I would go to any show they put on. A friend could ask me if I wanted to go to the Empty Space tonight, and without knowing what was playing I would say yes. Consistently very talented casts! Phenomenal stage design! Great directing! Fun choreography! Lighting and audio teams always do a great job! It is always clear the whole team are fully invested in the material and bringing out the best in each other. Top tier local talent all around. The Empty Space is more than a place to catch amazing local theater. They also showcase art from local artists in their art gallery which acts as their lobby. I recommend getting there early to enjoy the artwork and grab their super affordable snacks. After being away for a while, I was excited to attend my first show at their new location, Dracula: A Comedy Of Terrors. And a bust out loud comedy it was. Phenomenal show as usual. I'm not sure I could've gotten a better welcome back to The Empty Space. Thank you to the whole cast and crew who made that show happen. Their new location is super nice and spacious. The old location had its charm, but their new location is much larger and the seating has extra leg room, which is always appreciated. Many longtime fans of the Empty Space will recall how the old building immersed the audience was in the show due to the close proximity to the performers, and how many of their productions would utilize the space in creative ways for stand out moments. I'm glad to say they do a great job utilizing the new space in a similar manner. When you walk into the theater you actually walk onto the stage initially which provides an all encompassing immediate immersion into whatever world you're about to enjoy an awesome story in. For those thinking of auditioning to be a cast member, I actually had the pleasure of being in their 2016 production of "In The Heights" which took place in their previous location and highly recommend it. It was a super fun experience. They're very kind and welcoming.

The lobby is nice and cozy and the staff is always super nice! The concession stand is reasonably priced with a good selection of snacks and drinks. I enjoy the custom cocktails they serve. The theater seating is good with good views no matter where you sit. The cast is always great and super talented. I highly support local theater and have been recommending The Empty Space to all my friends and family.

We chose the mid level tickets and sat in the side booth area. We were able to see the stage very well. We arrived about 30 minutes prior to the show. I think we will head there a little earlier next time so ordering is easier. Jake was our server and got our drinks right away. The food took a little longer, and I think our order may have even been misplaced, but we were there for the laughs and the food ultimately made it to us. There were 4 of us, and we got fried pickles, crispy chicken sliders, fish tacos, margaritas, mule and punch line. Cute menu item names! We were drawn to purchase tickets when we saw Caroline Rhea would be performing. She was very cute and funny. We loved it. Patrick and CJ did a great job opening for her. Keep the laughs coming! We will be back!

The lights, the crowd, the set up, the vibes were perfect to just relax and enjoy good laugh. As for the food we only tried the fries and they were a little too seasoned BUT, next time I'll be sure to save my appetite to try a burger & cocktail. The laughs were so great, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I am already checking out the upcoming comedians to ensure I get my tickets on time !

The last time I visited The BLVD was a few years ago and not a lot has changed since I last visited. I do have to say that this is a great place to hangout at for family or friends and even for a team building. I love video games, so arcades are definitely a must when I visit places that have arcades. I think the arcades are a bit outdated and they need better games. I don't think they are horrible, but I would love to see a better variety for all ages. I think bowling is a super fun idea and I would love to come back just for that to up my bowling skills. They have a good amount of lanes, so you can guarantee you'll be able to play. Food was good. They have a good variety of options even for vegans/vegetarians which is great because I know a lot of people that have food restrictions, but they also have a good variety for the others that don't have those restrictions. The place is nice and neat. My only complaint is the token system. You won't use 100% of the tokens you buy because the games are charged at different prices and I think they do that on purpose so we can keep refilling those game cards, other than that this is a great place if you're looking for something to do.

I asked her if we could move chairs into our section if they're not being used and she said yes. She accommodated the needs of my group and I truly appreciated. I requested for only him to wait on my group because he was doing a great job and I communicated well with him. We all did our best to work with him and he in turn took care of us I also appreciated De'Antay for coming by to make sure everyone was okay, needed drinks or refills. I know as a host I appreciated it! Thank you for giving my group a GREAT experience! We all loved it and enjoyed the food!

I half-joked I'd buy it if Will wore it like a hat -- and he actually did That sealed the deal! This shop is my go-to for everything: lazy man soil, plant bids, or just lounging with the leaves (see what I did there). The team is always super friendly, helpful, and just genuinely awesome. I even dragged my best friend to their Bingo night -- and he's not even a plant person (don't judge him, he's working on it). We had an absolute blast. Leaf Lounge isn't just a plant shop, it's a whole experience. Highly recommend!

They offer classes, you can book one of the two room they have for a party or gathering, they have aprons, they'll set up drinks and snacks oof you want, and can set up a project for everyone in your group to do. My husband and I and four friends all took a class and made a cool terrarium. We had so much fun, and loved being creative in picking what plants we wanted so they weren't all the same. The owners and staff are excellent! They are really helpful and friendly and truly make you feel welcome and special. I don't have a green thumb, but after shopping there for over a year, I haven't killed a single plant in my house, and it's only because they showed me how to take care of them. My thumb is finally turning green!

She was attentive, kind, and handled everything with such professionalism despite clearly being given a lot of responsibility. She truly stood out and made our experience better. I did notice that she was responsible for distributing food, handing out sodas and waters, and assisting guests all at once. It seemed like she was being pulled in many directions while other staff were not stepping in to support her. From a guest perspective, it felt like a missed opportunity -- not only for efficiency and service flow, but also for her personally. Alexis has the personality and skill set of a strong bartender, and it seemed like she wasn't being utilized in a way that allows her (or the business) to maximize her strengths or earning potential. She was essentially serving waters and sodas while having the ability to provide full bar service, which would benefit both her and the establishment. My intention in sharing this is truly positive. Alexis is a fantastic employee and clearly cares about the guests and the establishment. Supporting team members like her and ensuring responsibilities are balanced among staff would likely improve both customer experience and employee satisfaction. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate the effort that goes into running a busy place like yours and wanted to share feedback that I hope is helpful.

To start off just wanted to say that my family and I ultimately did have fun. We had a great time…read moreand for the price it was worth it. We visited on a Sunday night. Place was not busy at all and there seemed to be 2 bartenders, two staff members, and one manger working. There are a few things I think would really help the business improve: To start off the customer service is below par, you don't get greeted or talked to unless you start the conversation off first. During our entire visit about 2.5 hours no one came and checked on us or ask us anything. Bartender was the only staff member who wore a smile and was extremely friendly throughout the visit. I would say some table touches by management or maybe having one person on the floor talking to people could not only generate more money but also better experiences. Usually I'm not the type to need most interactions when going places but this place definitely lacked it by a lot. Concerning the overall cleanliness of the building it also could have been a lot better. Restrooms were fairly clean but the tables themselves were very dirty as well as the booths. We had to ask twice for tables to be clean and ended up gathering them ourselves in order to sit down. The food was good though we ordered two pizzas some pitchers of soda and beer and some nachos. I do believe they should have a wider selection of food sold but I know most of the time that doesn't really fall on the management but more so the actual corporation. Price was also not too bad for food. For the actual bowling it was really fun I paid about $120 for about 7 people to bowl with shoes included apparently it was a special and you can bowl until they close. The equipment seemed really really old though I think this place is due for a remodel. The pins would fall on their own with no ball in sight, the balls would not go into the chute and instead roll back on the actual lane and get stuck and at times the whole system would just freeze and during those intense moments where we were trying to crown a winner the experience is just ruined. Overall the atmosphere was alright there were about 5 other family and they bunched us all up in the same booths instead of spreading everyone around to give people more space. The music was okay and the place didn't really scream fun. I think this place had lots of potential despite the age of the building by just tweaking a couple things which would make everyone's experience that much more enjoyable. Will I be back soon? Maybe not. Do I want to be back? Of course. Given there is basically no places in town like this I think this place has lots of room for improvement.
