Had such a great time volunteering here with SGAD!! I've volunteered with Surly at the Roseville location before doing a hanger sort. This location was a bit different. We did a napkin and placemat sort/pairing, some people got to match the sets to a set of dishes so when people come to grab them they can have a whole set. This location seemed a bit tighter space wise than the other location but it worked out for us spreading out. Staff were nice and helpful when we had questions. read more

I would tell them not to turn down wonderful pieces of furniture. I had a beautiful Bernhardt sofa that barely was used and they turned it down with a Thomas ville oak dining room table six chairs. They don't bother to even look at pictures and then ask you to pay for moving. With so many people without homes or furniture, how can they do that. read more

On Monday, Bloomington DT noticed uneven wear and suggested I head to Burnsville DT since they had an alignment rack. I lost track of time and after fighting I-35W traffic, arrived about 5 minutes before closing. They set me up for a 1045 appointment on Tuesday. I arrived at 1015. They recognized my truck and called me in early. The job was finished by 1048. Excellent service for an out of state customer! read more

If you want bedbugs and damaged furniture after paying $200 for delivery, go for it. The delivery team was incompetent and disrespectful.

The communication is non-existent. I tried emailing and calling multiple times about an issue with a donation and never received a response. Once they get your money online don't look for anything else from Bridging. read more

My company has given me the opportunity to volunteer here a couple of times. The first time we sponsored them with a dresser build where we bought several dresser kits and built them onsite for people that are looking for a dresser. This time it was helping by grabbing the requested items for orders and get them on the truck for delivery while others rolled up donated blankets and other bedding for people in need. There was also a lot of show piled up on some semi trailers that was caving in the roof of the trailer. We helped pull the wet snow down to keep more damage from happening. I felt that we had a very productive day. I got over 10,000 steps running around there trying to help out as much as we could. Fran the founder, was there, even though he is now in his nineties, what a nice man. I am glad to have met him. I took many photos of things around the office and handouts that explain how others can help either with a group or solo. Please look into helping these guys out if you can. Your heart will be full because of it. read more

I rarely leave a bad review but don't bother even trying to bring things here. I read their website carefully to find a home for a like new children's trundle bed - the website said they took beds but not headboards or frames. They only had a recording on the phone. After driving an hour, we arrived an they said they didn't take trundle beds. We offered to give them only top half as a regular bed. Then they decided they didn't take any metal beds. We pointed out their website contradicted that. They complained that they had been complaining to corporate for years to change the website. Clearly the organization has communication issues. They have not only gotten a rotten yelp, but we are giving up donating anything at all ever again. Everyone's loss. read more

First volunteering event with Surly Gives a Damn for 2018! Woooooo. Bridging does great work for the community with helping families to get a basic furniture for their house. During the introductions they talked about how 200+ people use their service. So they plenty of help and donations especially during this winter time. You are able to help out an individual or a group. When I volunteered with Bridging after signing in, we were let into the warehouse. So the groups goal was to building 57 dressers. So their were people who were able to make the dresser super quick and those whose first time took an hour or so to make one. They make it very simple and they are nice to ask for help. Our group was 50 people deep and we were able to do 71 dressers. They also have a really cool annual event called The Bedrace. Where you get the race with a covered bed mattress down a hill which the proceeds go back to the organization. Great group, good cause, and good people to volunteer with! :) read more

I have donated to Bridging for several years and never had any problem, but this year I have tried on 4 separate occasions to donate perfectly good furniture items, only to have them rejected. It is a waste of my time and a waste of resources that others could use. I will no longer work with this charity. read more

Bridging was hard to work with and they wouldn't take all of the stuff. They are expensive. Use someone else they are free and much easier to work with! read more

I volunteer at Bridging two days a week, and it is such an incredible place. Lindsey pretty much summed up what they do, but I wanted to review it as well in the hope that a few of you may see this review and say: "Gee...Maybe I don't need 17 pots and 9 pans. I should donate some of this stuff to Bridging!" Even though times are tough, most of us could stand to spare a few pots, pans, towels or old furniture. Most of the people who Bridging helps really do have nothing in their homes. It makes you reconsider your need for stuff. read more

I have donated items to Bridging before and I believe in their work in the community. When my aunt died in assisted living, my sister and I went out of our way to pay for movers to bring her furniture to Bridging. They accepted everything except a couple of chairs. The worker thought he detected some pet hair on one of the chairs. I told him my aunt had a dog who died probably 20 years ago and the chairs were professionally cleaned 4 years ago, but he still wouldn't accept them. This really left me in the lurch. Thank God for Justin from Matt's Moving. He said he would take the chairs to Goodwill at no extra charge. I don't know what I would have done without his kindness. I still believe in Bridging's mission but I'm not sure I would take a chance like this again. read more

I had an amazing volunteer experience at this place about a month ago. It is so well organized. For those of you who don't know about the incorporation, it is basically a warehouse with used furniture and families who qualify can come and furnish their homes for free! Bridging will even help transport the furniture to the homes. It helps about 150 families a week and partners with any organization you can think of- from Habitat for Humanity, to Target, to Slumberland, and many others. I helped to put together some small cabinets from Target and felt like I had made a difference after just a half days of work. Definitely a great volunteer opportunity! read more

I volunteered at Bridging with a group of co-workers recently and I was so impressed by what this organization accomplishes for people coming out of hard times. As the largest furniture bank in the US, Bridging provides everything you would need for a nice home, and one that you can be proud of. It was really easy to coordinate with their office, they have a polished website where you can submit a request for interest in coming to volunteer, the size of the group and the time you can come. They will do all the planning, all you need to do is show up in closed toe shoes with a positive attitude and you will have a great time. The small group I was working with sorted through piles of donated blankets and comforters, choosing only the best ones for the clients and folding then nicely so they could pick the one they liked most, all the while chatting and listening to the radio. The time just flew by, I couldn't believe it was a three hour shift! Another group from my work was able to help transport tables, cabinets and couches around in the warehouse for display or delivery to a home. I really had a enjoyable time working here and think its a great bonding event for a team of any kind. I will definitely suggest this for future events again, we had a ton of fun and felt great about doing it! read more

First of all, I used Bridging when I first moved to MN. Awesome service, great for people who need it. My daughter also used the service. However, she is moving and doesn't have the need for the furniture and would like to donate it back because it's in good condition. I set the appointment with them and verified that I would pay $150 to have them come inside the apartment and pick it up for us. They sent two elderly gentlemen, both with back problems who probably couldn't pick them up if they were two feet from the truck. Also, they had orders to only pick it up if it were outside. We had specific orders, which I paid for, but the communication was not there and who in the world would send two elderly gents to do a young man's job? And got it wrong. It caused so much headache and by the grace of God, we were able to remove the furniture. I thank Bridging for your past help, but right now, you are displaying complete bad business. And the folks on the phone are quite rude and disrespectful. A small seminar or class on phone etiquette could benefit them. Maybe you should look into that.
