For the price, I felt like this was an amazing find. The 4/5 stars is because some stuff didn't really work: the light switch didn't turn the lamps on and the shower faucet was wonky (it was stuck on half bath setting, half shower), but I have to give it 5 stars on cleanliness. Lobby and hallways smell a little funky and feel little run down, but the rooms were miraculously spotless. Also the guy at the front desk was strange and way too talkative. He went trough the longest spiel I've ever heard from a front desk operator: all the stuff that's around the hotel, how to work every little thing in the room, extreme detail about login into the wifi, etc. But none of that is really important when you're on a budget and look for a clean, safe space to sleep for the night, which is what this place is. I'd recommend it and I'd go back again.

The front desk employee was polite and apologetic, but accompanied me to the next room late at night, which made me uneasy as a woman traveling alone. The second room was clearly not cleaned--there was an unmade bed and used towels on the floor. The third room I was assigned was acceptable, but it did not have a security chain on the door. Given the earlier issues with rooms being incorrectly assigned, I did not feel safe and was worried someone might enter my room. The following morning, I went down for breakfast shortly after the posted start time of 6:00 AM, but nothing was set up and no staff were present. When I called, I was told breakfast started at 6:00. After explaining it was already past that time, I was told it would still be a while before anything was ready. I raised my concerns about the previous night and asked about a possible refund. I was told someone would look into it and follow up, but I never received a response. After multiple follow-up calls, I finally spoke with the same employee who had checked me in. He was extremely rude, denied the situation occurred, and repeatedly accused me of being "the kind of person who takes advantage of a situation." He also refused to let me speak with the manager (his cousin), claiming he was unavailable. At this point, I am less concerned about a refund and more focused on making others aware. The lack of proper room management created an unsafe situation, and the dismissive and hostile response from staff was unacceptable. I would strongly caution anyone considering staying here, especially those traveling alone.

This place was definitely more like home not a hotel and has earned our business from now on when we travel to Nebraska. The aroma of freshly baked cookies swept me off my feet and lured me in (even though that's where I was going anyways). They bake fresh cookies every Wednesday and I believe Thursday too between 4pm and 630pm for their patrons. The lady who checked me in was super chill. She was busy doing a million other things and checking people in and running in and out. She was very good at her job. After checking in, I went to my room. It can be a little hard to find. The number signage is pretty small but they gave me a map and I was able to find it. Each room has their own wifi. It's less hotel and more like a townhouse suite. You walk in and there's a small living room with a tv, a coffee table, and a loveseat. Across from it there's a kitchen - fridge, pantry, stove. I didn't cook here so not sure if it comes with pots and pans. As you move through the apartment, you enter the king size bed which also has a TV and a closet. In the back of my room, around the corner was the sink and then another door that led into the bathroom where the toilet and the shower is there. There is also a laundry machine and dryer. You must buy your own cleaning products however. Small bottles of lotion, shampoo, and conditioner. Bar soap and bar facial soap are provided. I was on the bottom floor. There was someone above me but I didn't hear them. There's a pool in the complex as well. They serve breakfast in the morning from 6am and 930am. Waffles, eggs, cheesy eggs, sausage patties, English muffins and gravy, some pastries and coffee tea. They have an ice cream machine, a slushy machine, and a cappuccino machine which are available 24/7. Bed was comfortable. Not cloud 9. I'd say the hardness level is about a medium. I have some back pain but I could easily sleep on it for a few days. There's a CVS, Walgreens, Best Buy and Buffalo Wings and Rings across the street.

The Scarlet Hotel - A Disappointing Failure of Hospitality…read more Reservation: September 27-28, 2026 | Intended Stay: September 28-29, 2026 I want to acknowledge that the original reservation mistake was mine. I accidentally booked our room for September 27-28, when our intended stay was September 28-29. I understand that hotels have cancellation and no-show policies, and I accept responsibility for selecting the wrong date. What I cannot understand or excuse is how we were treated when we arrived and tried to find a solution. We were in the middle of a 900-mile move from Colorado to Minnesota, driving a 26-foot U-Haul with a trailer. I chose The Scarlet after confirming that they could accommodate our truck and trailer. We planned Lincoln as our overnight stop because we wanted one special evening together in the middle of a stressful move. We were looking forward to a comfortable hotel, a romantic dinner, and an opportunity to relax and reconnect before continuing our journey the next morning. Instead, we arrived on September 28 to discover my reservation mistake and learned that we had been charged the full room rate for the previous night. We weren't expecting the hotel to ignore its policies or erase my mistake. We were ready and willing to stay at The Scarlet that evening, and hoped someone might help us find a reasonable solution. When we asked the front-desk employee whether there was a manager or anyone she could call, she told us that they "don't answer their phones this time of the day." Only after we continued pressing the issue did she give us business cards and tell us that someone should get back to us in a day or two. That was hardly a solution for two exhausted travelers standing at the front desk needing accommodations that night. Even more disappointing was the employee's demeanor. Rather than feeling that someone wanted to help, we felt dismissed and, at moments, almost mocked. Whether that was her intention or not, the interaction came across as lacking empathy, professionalism, and basic courtesy. We walked away incredibly disheartened. Unfortunately, the disappointment didn't end there. It has now been 11 days since we arrived at The Scarlet on September 28, and not a single person from the hotel has contacted us. On October 7, I left a voicemail for the general manager, hoping to discuss what happened and give the hotel an opportunity to address our concerns. As of October 9, that call has gone unanswered. I find that especially troubling. The front-desk employee suggested management would respond within a day or two, yet 11 days later, we haven't received a courtesy call. What makes this experience even more disappointing is that my partner has been a loyal Marriott rewards member for years. We have another meaningful trip coming up later this month to lay her father's ashes to rest. We had been planning to stay at a Marriott property during that trip, but after this experience, we are seriously reconsidering that decision. This isn't about threatening to take our business elsewhere. It's about the loss of confidence that comes from feeling that a hospitality company doesn't care when something goes wrong. A simple response such as, "I'm sorry this happened. Let me see what options we have," would have made an enormous difference--even if the financial outcome had been exactly the same. Hospitality isn't measured only by beautiful accommodations or how smoothly things go when everything is perfect. It's measured by how people are treated when something goes wrong. I made a reservation mistake, and I accept responsibility for it. But the way we were treated, the lack of meaningful assistance, and the absence of follow-through were not my mistakes. We had hoped The Scarlet would provide a memorable, romantic evening in the middle of a difficult journey. Instead, it became memorable for the wrong reasons. We didn't expect special treatment. We expected hospitality. Unfortunately, we didn't experience it.

Packed on Valentine's Day before our shows, so it's clear it's more than just a hotel bar that residents frequent. Lincoln doesn't have too many stops for craft cocktails, so this is a nice find. My first selection was a whiskey-based with smoked rosemary rim. My husband got something with absthinhe in it. Our other friend ordered what looked like a drink version of an orange cream pie. So fun and the ambiance can't be beat. Drinks typical range 15-20 for fancy cocktails.

The bathroom sink is weirdly tiny, but overall the room was fine. Except for the noise. So much noise! All night long! We were facing 11th street and we were staying over a weekend. You could hear cars all night. And ambulance one night at 2 am. And if that noise wasn't enough, they were hosting something in what I guess is there convention area? And that noise went on until midnight. Insanely loud music that we at first thought was coming from someplace across the street. But nope. It was coming from a few doors down. I so wanted to love this place but we will not be staying here again. A good night's sleep is too important to us. I really feel that better quality windows would make a world of difference.

Immediately upon arrival, we are always greeted by the friendly owner. He's available by cell the whole time you're there, which is nice. He also checks immediately to see if there are any allergies for breakfast the next morning. One thing I love about this place is how secluded it feels, yet it is super easy to get to from I-80. The last two times we stayed it was cold outside so we didn't get to see what they had to offer outside. This time, I really took advantage of the big lawn in front, which was great for our dog. There is also a really nice patio area in the front. Finally, although we did not personally take advantage of it, I noticed they also have a bbq area. The breakfast continues to be delicious. There's a side of fresh fruit with cinnamon and whipped cream. You also get fresh orange juice along with this really delicious breakfast dish that comes with eggs, bacon, and asparagus. I look forward to it every time we come. I really think it is a lot of bang for your buck in terms of the quality of the room. I've been to several bed and breakfasts and this continues to be the best value. The bed is comfy and I love the huge spa tub in the bathroom. You're able to watch Netflix (and Hulu I believe).
