TLDR: I booked a solo appointment and the girls helped me out so much, I felt very relaxed and just had fun trying on dresses, most gowns were under 1000 but some needed significant repair, unexpectedly found and bought my dress! I had gone to one other traditional boutique and felt a little rushed because I hadn't had time to browse the racks before my appointment and didn't know what kind of style I wanted. So the more laidback vibe of BFAC was appealing to me as I wanted to peruse at my leisure and I was able to try on any style dress I wanted. I booked a solo appointment so I could just try on what I wanted, but not having someone there to help with zipping up made me a little slower with the dresses. The girls were able to help with zipping and clipping when I needed it. I was able to try on 8 different dresses (of varying degrees of condition). Most dresses were priced under 1000 but I did see many that had broken zippers/ripped seams/sold as is that would need repair. I ended up going a bit over my appointment time but the girls were so gracious in giving me more time, probably because I was there alone. Also I'm normally a 4 in street size but they recommended sizing up so I was looking at dresses between 6-8 which they had significant stock of. I stumbled on an absolute GEM of a dress that was a sample by Maggie Sottero. It was the second dress I had tried and it fit like a glove, was in pristine condition, and was so beautiful. The girls were so nice in hyping me up. I felt so pretty and comfortable in the dress but I didn't have the wow moment or tears so I was actually unsure if that was "my dress" but they were able to hold it for me for 24 hours. The hold was nice but stressful for me because I wanted more time to think about it (which is the nice thing about traditional stores that have normal stocked designers where you can try on a dress and return weeks to months later and still be able to buy it, but if I didn't buy this one, there wasn't a guarantee it would be there again next time). I ended up going back the following day (no appointment needed) to try it on again and styled it in different ways to see what alterations I would want and I realized I would be devastated if I passed on it and would regret not getting it right then. When I was paying for the dress, the girls actually said they had just gotten the dress in too so if you don't find a dress initially, check back again because it seems their stock rotates frequently and you might be able to find a really good quality dress for a fraction of the cost (I ended up saving 70% of the retail cost at BFAC). read more

Loved the store and the worker babes are fabulous! Two things I did not like though; 1; I felt very rushed because the appointments were only an hour long, and I did have to ask for an extra 30 minutes. I think the appointment time should be two hours long, I only got to shop for dresses once and the rest of the time my mom and my MOH just kept bringing me dresses. It was a very rushed process and it was very busy and I don't feel like the dressing rooms. Are that big and should definitely be bigger. Also, there were two men in the dressing room when I first got there and was trying on dresses and one guy was standing right across from my dressing room, and I felt very uncomfortable with him standing there as I was half naked behind the curtain and my girls kept bringing me dresses in and out so obviously the curtain had to be opened a lot, and it was just very nerve-racking that a guy was in there. The men need to stay away, including Dad's! Just my opinion. If a guy wants to come with his bride to pick dresses like this guy seem to be then they need to like stay inside the dressing room with her not be out in the middle of the whole dressing area. Other than that, I will say they had a lot of options to choose from lots of different styles lots of different sizes and I definitely found my dress, but I still felt rushed and kind of wish. I had the best experience at Brides for a Cause. I went on Sunday and said yes to the dress! I booked for one hour, got the tour and run down of how it works, and once I got in the fitting room myself and my 3 girlfriends went to look for dresses immediately. (Only 5 dresses in the room at a time) I was able to try on dresses that aren't normally my style either to see if it felt right. Overall great experience did feel a bit rushed but it was fun and such a great experience nonetheless. I was able to get a sample dress that has never been work before with little to no alterations. Please, please, please, consider this location when dress shopping! This organization is amazing, and helps the everyday woman feel like she can enjoy the full luxuries of life. I really enjoyed my time here. The employees were incredibly kind and welcoming. I came in on a whim with a friend, not expecting much, and was pleasantly surprised by how many dresses I genuinely loved. While some were out of my budget or would have required alterations I wasn't willing to do, I ended up finding the perfect dress--already my size, needing little to no alterations, and within my budget. We were honestly amazed. I also really appreciated that they offer to hold a dress for a short period of time (either a few hours or up to a day). When you're making a big purchase decision--especially since the dresses are final sale--it's refreshing and reassuring to see a business that encourages you not to rush. It felt honest and thoughtful, not like they were just trying to make a quick sale. The only downside was the fitting room lighting. It isn't very flattering and doesn't show well on camera, which makes it hard if you're FaceTiming family or friends for a second opinion. I'd recommend stepping toward the front of the store near the window for better lighting. As a suggestion to the store, improving the fitting room lighting would make a huge difference and would also allow customers to feel more comfortable without having to walk to the front of the shop or be visible from outside. Not only do they have dresses for cheap (mine was originally $2975 and I got it for $500), but they had actually a pretty great selection in what looked like lots of sizes. My group and I loved that we were able to shop for ourselves, but I do recommend bringing people who can really get your style and are willing to move quickly. Cute little shop in North Park! Make a reservation so that you can use a fitting room! The reservation system online is easy and it also lets you put in how many guests you would like to bring in (I think you can say up to 2 but can call in to see if you can squeeze in a little more). The dresses are organized by size - I was told you would want to check out dresses about 2 sizes up! Dont be shocked if you're wearing dresses not in your usual size. I got to try on dresses in various styles and price points. They also have a range of price points so definitely affordable! The staff members are lovely and help answer questions and clip the back to fit your form better. I definitely recommend this place! The most memorable experience! Truly, it felt like a dream almost like a game show. I went to David's bridal last week to get sized and find what style dress best fit me and to get that "traditional" bridal dress trying on experience. So I went to Brides for a Cause prepared! I had high hopes but didn't know what to expect. Upon arrival staff was so sweet, she walked us through the process and let us know she was available to help with any questions. I reserved my room 60 minutes and brought my mom and aunt. I highly suggest bringing two people to help you hold and carry dresses (5 at a time) from the rack to the dressing room and help zip you up. She'd visited their Sacramento location before, so while she was in San Diego, we decided to check this one out as well. Brides for a Cause is such a unique bridal shop--it's a nonprofit that resells donated wedding dresses to fund women's causes. Dresses come from designers, stores, manufacturers, and brides from all over, and the result is an incredible selection! The vibes here are so welcoming and relaxed. Unlike some bridal appointments, you're free to browse as you like, and my friend could try on up to five dresses at a time. The staff was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. And the deals? Amazing! My friend tried on a dress that retails for nearly $11,000--brand new--being sold for only $2,000. Wow! She ended up putting a dress on hold, and I'd honestly recommend this place to anyone engaged. Expectations were made extremely clear upon arriving for an appointment. We were given a quick little tour for where everything was, got a fitting room, and were free to browse and try on! There is a good variety of different styles, which I loved! The best part is that you are reducing waste AND getting an amazing deal. I recommend anyone who is looking for a budget option, something more economical, or is wanting to support a good cause to look here for your wedding dress! Note: These dresses are donated by brides, stores, designers, etc. They are not perfect and that's okay! If you are looking for a flawless, brand new gown, this is probably not the best choice. If you're looking for a wedding dress in the San Diego area I would definitely recommend stopping by this place! Although I was not able to select my dress from this place they had such an abundant variety, and for such affordable and reasonable prices. I will just say keep in mind that not all dresses will be in mint condition. But you're definitely going to get the best price for some pretty amazing and beautiful dresses. I recommend reservation if you're trying to go in on the weekend, but they mentioned weekdays are pretty slow and walk-ins are more than welcome. There's only public parking which can be a challenge in this area so I would plan ahead for that, either Uber or just give yourself enough time to find some parking. read more

I was a bit disappointed in the selection of dresses. I found one that I really really liked, but there were snags and rips all over it to the point that it felt like choosing it would have been more of a hassle than me enjoying the process of making the dress my own. The dress was ticketed at 500 dollars, but was really only worth maybe 100 at most. I also did not enjoy people family members standing in front of the mirrors, with most having my more than 3 people with them it is chaotic in the dressing room and not suited for a person with anxiety. I really loved this concept but overall disappointed that the experience didn't make me feel like this was my place to say yes to the dress. read more
