Just don't come here. I was shopping for my wedding dress and I made an appointment about two weeks in advance. I came in with my mom and sisters for my SCHEDULED appointment and the shop girl said she would have to work me in between fittings. I was trying to be nice and not stress out about it, so I went with it. I was in the market for a more traditional ball gown wedding dress and they just didn't have a lot of variety. They had a lot of sweetheart tops and mermaid cuts and that was about it. I asked if they had any white dresses and she said no. That no one wears white anymore, that beige, nude, and off white were all they offered. She said that white dresses just aren't as nice. Well, thanks for talking smack on my values and taste. They won't even tell you the dress maker or brand. They say its to keep people from caring about designers, but it really comes off as selling you a cheap dress with a huge markup. On our way out a lady caught us by the door and she asked if I found anything. I was honest and told her no and that I was disappointed that they didn't offer much a variety as far as color and style. Then she proceeded to tell me that they can order any dress in different fabrics or color. Well, it was too late by then. They had already lost me as a customer. My daughter and I purchased her bridal gown from Brides. When we were supposed to have our "first fitting," I called the morning of the appointment, and the store said they could not do the first fitting. If I had not called, they would not have let me know about the cancellation! My daughter and I took off work to be at this fitting! The store tried to accommodate us and had one of the ladies in Brides go ahead with the fitting. When this lady put the straight pins in my daughter's $1800.00 dress, holes were in the dress from the straight pins. When I called for the final fitting, the store could not accommodate us for the final fitting. I went to Perfect Fit, and as my daughter was putting on her dress, I noticed several holes in the thin lace! I was distraught! And, also, at the bottom of the train, underneath, the dress was DIRTY@!! Please do not use this store. When I purchased this dress, I was under the impression Brides would be ordering my daughter a NEW DRESS, not the one that had been on the floor for a long time! Perfect Fit cannot fix the holes in the dress! I spent $1800.00 on a dress that is not worth the money!!! DO NOT SHOP HERE. Go to David's Bridal! read more

I love brides. I have bought a prom dress there and decided to come back for looking for my wedding dress. Most of the dresses out are size 8 or 10, no biggie! I told them I probably wouldn't fit in them and they had me tru them on to make sure. They then went to the back and brought out bigger sizes. Accidentally, they picked a dress that had EVERYTHING I was looking for! I fell in love with it! I am currently making payments and once they have 1/2 of the dress payment they're ordering my dress in my size. They're so sweet and made me feel amazing ! read more

The store had a decent selection of bridesmaid dresses and a young brunette salesgirl was very good and nice. However- the older woman, who I can only assume must own the store based on her demeaning and rude behavior toward customers (any employee would surely be fired for how she acted) made my experience a very poor one. After the white haired woman (who I now find it appropriate to call an old bat) made several rude and belittling comments to myself and my mother while she was trying on a dress we decided to leave. As I left I said "they were kind of rude" the woman yelled across the store that she could still hear us. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

The people that work here were all extremely nice! I was a little nervous about going in because of the reviews and I also have a lot of tattoos which sometimes you get treated differently because of it. But I have to say we received nothing but top notch service! The consultant that was helping me went above and beyond and made me feel extremely comfortable. I had an appointment at David's Bridal just before my appointment at Brides and it was a horrible experience! The consultant at David's would just put a dress on and seemed not to care if it fit well or not (with the dress wrinkled, rolled, etc). I feel like it's hard to pick a dress when it's just thrown on. My consultant at Brides took the time to make sure that the dress I was trying on fit well and made sure the dress wasn't wrinkled or rolled up in spots. I'm a bride with curves and she made me feel beautiful! I tried on tons of dresses, she was so nice and was extremely patient with me. They don't work on commission so you don't have to deal with the "hurry up and buy one" attitude that I experienced at David's. They actually even stayed late and never even batted an eye that it was past closing time. I met the owner of the business and she was very sweet. I had my mom and maid of honor with me and they had a great time chatting with her and the other employees. I was a little worried what the prices were going to be like but, I was pleasantly surprised that almost all of the dresses were under my budget. I was able to find 20+ dresses that I really liked enough to try on. The dresses at Brides are so beautiful and a wonderful quality. I had never tried on wedding dresses and I was really looking forward to the experience. After I left David's I was extremely discouraged and disappointed. I am so glad that I went to Bride's! I was planning on going to Dallas to look at dresses but after going to Bride's I am definitely going to get my dress there because of the beautiful dresses and the wonderful customer service I received. I highly recommend this business, they were all so professional and had such great customer service. read more

This has to be the worst bridal shop I have ever dealt with. First of all, the owner can't shut up for two minutes at a time for you to talk about your wedding wishes. Secondly, they like to add fees without telling you from the beginning that they would be a possibility. The owner refuses to take responsibility for her crappy employees, and will blame your ENTIRE wedding party on the mistakes her store made. I genuinely hope Amarillo brides read reviews before purchasing any dresses from this location. They need to be put out of business. ps. don't complain to the owner about ANYTHING....or she will inform you she doesn't like being "Harrassed" ;) I wouldn't give that lady a customer service job at a mcdonalds-much less helpling people with their big day. read more

This store has many cute and beautiful dresses at reasonable prices. But two negative experiences is enough to keep me away from them in the future! Last fall, my sister had ordered two bridesmaids dresses from this store. She chose two dresses that could be rushed ordered so that they would arrive within 6 weeks in order to make it for the wedding in time. My grandma, my mother (who paid for the dresses), and another bridesmaid's mother were all in the store and witnessed my sister and mother ask for the 6 week rush delivery. Needless to say, the dresses did not come within 6 weeks. When my sister went to pick up the dresses, they insisted that my sister did not request 6 week delivery. Of course, my sister was near tears and had no idea what to do, yet they did nothing to help her nor admit they made a mistake. (All witnesses that saw the order put in can vouch that my mom and sister asked and were assured several times that they had signed up for the 6 week rush delivery.) When I was visiting my family this winter, my family and I decided to give this store one more shot. With all my relatives and bridesmaids in one spot for the holidays and their reasonable prices, it only made sense. One salesperson was extremely friendly and nice when we were looking at bridesmaid dresses. However, when I started trying on wedding dresses, the salesperson helping me was very curt and dour. Besides helping me into the dresses, she offered very little feedback or help in directing me to dress types that might look good on my body type nor did she ask me what type of style I was looking for. She seemed annoyed that my family was there even though I told her I was very excited that my mom, grandma (79), great aunt (81), and sisters could be there and this might be the only time we all get to look at dresses together. She also seemed extremely irritated that my aunt did not know the correct color names of the dresses. God forbid that someone doesn't know the difference between champagne and pale yellow when they comment on a dress they liked! I even found a dress I really liked, but could not stomach the idea of having to work with these people and decided not to buy it. I had given them a second chance after my sister's experience hoping it was just one rotten apple that ruined her experience, but it seems poor customer service is contagious here. In summary, if you're seeking headaches as you're trying to plan your big day, this store is the place to go. I don't plan on returning. read more

NEVER SHOP at "Brides" (located on westgate in amarillo, tx). AVOID this shop AT ALL COSTS! I promise you, the drama and the stress and the poor service is not worth your emotions and your precious time- especially during such a unique and special occasion in your life. Your beautiful wedding deserves an experience that you want to cherish- NOT DREAD and cry over. I should really start by saying that I am a very objective, kind and reasonable individual. When I shop somewhere and choose to give someone my business, I expect hard work, prompt service and courteous interaction. Customer service is imperative to any successful business. However, I also understand that each business is made up of many individuals, and individuals have lives outside of "public service". I do not expect perfection, nor do I expect anyone to perform miracles; I simply wish to be treated with respect and I expect people to do their job well. This being said, I am taking time out of my life to post that this Bridal shop "Brides" has literally one of the most unprofessional , ill mannered and insulting managers I have probably ever experienced. 4 weeks after ordering bridesmaid dresses, each of the bridal party members received a phone call and were told that we were going to owe "a rush service and alteration fee" because "the date that was written down by Brides -was wrong". There was push back from the bridal party due to the $50 dollar increase to each member's budget. There was no responsibility taken by "Brides" , the manager blatantly said "you each have 15 mins to give me your credit card number, otherwise I find it best that we no longer do business together." THIS WAS 1 month before the wedding! We had placed our order and set dates, discussed plans etc more than 8 weeks prior to the wedding date. "I can't help that you are a last minute ,unorganized bride" the manager accused. She also went on to say that "we also may consider not doing your fiancé's suits either. We really only want to enjoy serving you and you obviously aren't enjoying us." I cannot express to you the feelings that were going on in my mind at the time. I was going to be fired as a CLIENT?! EVEN though "Brides" was in error?!! Unbelievable. The lack of unprofessionalism does not stop there. The manager continues to stipulate that she will be the only one, from here on out, that will speak to our bridal party anymore, and each time I would call to ask about the progress on our measurements and alterations each staff member would reply "we are not allowed to speak to anyone from this bridal party, only the manager will speak with you". Wow. They made more than $1200 dollars off of this wedding and I regret every minute of it. Take my advise and AVOID this place. read more

Would NEVER recommend this store to anyone. The staff is not helpful and frankly very rude. All of the dresses have the designer's tags cut out so there is no evidence or proof that you are actually receiving the quality of dress that you are paying for. Also, the cost for alterations is insane. $200 dollars for a hem? HONEY I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!! I lost two hours of my life here that I will never get back. I don't consider myself a bridezilla but when it came to finding my wedding dress, I had a terrible time! The ladies at Brides were consistently friendly throughout my shopping experience. I believe I tried on 80% of the dresses in the store over a period of 3 separate appointments. Each time, the girls were extremely friendly and excited about helping me find THE dress. Once I found it, they made me an all day fitting appointment. This allowed all my alterations to be done in one day, rather than me needing to drive the 4 hour roundtrip drive from my hometown several times. The seamstress who finished my dress was a miracle worker and the fit of the dress made me feel gorgeous on my wedding day. As far as price, I looked up my dress online in several places and found that Brides' price was actually lower, which surprised me since they are a locally owned, smaller shop. I highly recommend that any bride wanting personal, friendly service and a gorgeous dress visit Brides! read more

Don't even "check" David's, go straight to Brides! If you want an experience where it feels like the salespeople value you as a person and not a sale, Brides is where you should go. Everyone went out of their way to make it magical for me and my family and friends, and treated me like their most important customer.
