If his staff had been honest about the quote to begin with, it would have been different. But everything was last minute and when we would call, it was a different story with Nicole, who acts like every single day is her very first day to work any job ever. When I said I hadn't received a call, another girl called me to say Nicole wrote down a note that she had called me. Okay - then where was my missed call? Where was my voicemail? They had my husband's number too. There was also no other reason for her to call me other than to dispute me saying I didn't get a call and she kept arguing round and round about it. I finally asked her straight up if the point of her call was the call me a liar. She said that she was just calling to say that Isy would call me later, which is what she had just heard the other girl tell me not 10 minutes earlier. Isy then called me and was talking in circles too about how they never order expensive pieces like the magical new $600 part where I was verbally quoted $50-$100 without calling the customer first. But then he would say stuff like of course the part was this expensive and we should have just known? We aren't in the jewelry business which is why we were trusting him and the quote given by his staff. Then he told me that he decided to go ahead and just order the expensive piece without our approval despite his own policy of needing approval first when he had both my number and my husband's. At this point, I was just disgusted and said to stop everything and we would just pick up the ring and have all the work done elsewhere because I didn't trust Isy to stand by the new last minute quote. I spoke to my husband immediately and he called Isy within 15 minutes and said that he would pay the exorbitant new quote because he was sick of the rings not being done if Isy would just get them done and not bother me but deal with him after how I was treated. Nope - Isy claimed that the rings had magically been "undone" and could no longer be completed. By the way, this was all for sizing up a solitaire platinum ring (4 to 5.25) and setting a diamond in it, sizing slightly down a platinum ring (6 to 5.25) and soldering them together. This was not a giant job. All we asked for was an accurate quote and honest customer service.

Glitz & Glam was the first place I went and they were very happy to do it that day. (I recognize that it's entirely possible that they kept the broken and deformed link and simply connected the two intact parts, but that's actually fine with me. Even at 14 K, it's a fine enough necklace that the gold in that one link is basically worth pennies, and I can understand that re-forming that would add considerably to the complexity of the task. And if they did use the broken piece, so much the better. I honestly don't care.) When I picked it up, it had been both repaired and cleaned as a courtesy, which is the minimum I would expect, but I've also seen plenty of businesses not bother with the cleaning so I appreciate it. The staff were polite and helpful, and left me a very charming voicemail when it was ready to be picked up. My only small complaint is that both when I dropped it off and when I picked it up I felt somewhat rushed even though there were only 1-2 other customers in the store. I feel like the staff just has a bit of a habit of rushing people in and out, which can be fine if it suits your personality and schedule. I'm just a more relaxed kind of person and it stressed me a little. Another advantage is that there's disabled-accessible parking right across from their storefront, but I would caution anyone with a wheelchair that it might be a tricky fit through the front door. I use a walker and it did fit, but it was close, and hard to hold the door open while going through it. Once inside, there's plenty of room to move around no matter what sort of mobility aid you use, so that's not an issue.
