Instead, they had more specialized flavors! I got to try the strawberry cheesecake Gelato, and I gotta say, this is it. Usually, cheesecake flavors are a hit or miss with the flavors, but this place does it well. The gelato had CHUNKS of cheesecake inside. These were actual pieces of cheesecake that had been frozen inside the gelato, and it kept its own consistency. I absolutely love candy. There really isn't any candy I wouldn't eat. At home I always have an entire drawer full of candy all the time. Needless to say I was a little disappointed in the candy selection here. They did have a pretty decent variety of candy but some of the more popular candies were not available here (M&M's, Snickers, Reese's, Skittles, Kit Kat). Besides the candy options (variety of candy by the pound, Air Heads, Nerds, Blow Pops, Warheads, etc), they serve gelato. I sampled the strawberry cheescake gelato and it was delicious. The store clerk was nice and talkative. I ended up getting two Route 66 magnets and five candies. Total was $36. A little pricey to me. I would come back if in the area but I wouldn't buy too much from here again. read more

The front desk lady was on her phone the whole time, she wasn't rude but didn't say hi to us when we came in or any recognition of the sort. Soda selection is okay but candy not so much. Candy they do have is too common and overpriced for what it is. Gelato was even more disappointing..Texture off, it's very sticky and not smooth like it should be, flavors dull. Just look at it you can tell something is wrong, maybe it's sitting too long. The store is quiet and empty. They try for retro character and cuteness, but rather falls kinda flat. And the lone super bored-looking young worker staring unceasingly while you shop made it feel more weird. We did like the classic pinball and video games along the one wall. And only a quarter per play is nice. But it doesn't make up for other shortcomings. I want to be wowed by a candy store. Make it an experience. Make it irresistible. It has to be a destination. This place is a trip down candy lane. Offer a wide assortment of speciality, novelty, and discontinued items not easily found in stores. Also some vintage arcade games. The place needs some serious renovations and decorating but it has a lot of potential. I might be the only one who feels this way but it's kind of a great spot for a photo session with a significant other or kids. It's right next to the river/water. I hopped in here on Friday to get a few Easter treats for Mr K. I'm not supposed to be spending any money until after we close on our new house, but c'mon, it was Easter, and I was within steps of a darling, locally-owned, owner-operated candy shop. Good think Mr K knows I'm not known for sticking to the rules, or the budget, or the diet for that matter! Well I had a chance to visit with the owner Justin, look through the wall of yummy candies sold by the pound, and talk a little bit of shop! I steered clear of the gelato, because I love gelato so much, one bite and I'm suddenly a full-on gelato monster, but it looked amazing! In the end, I settled on delicious gummy bears and cherry sours. In addition to all of this, he has his own brand of Root Beer, and also makes sandwiches, something he started for the ACM@UCO kids so they'd have something easy and affordable to get for lunch. You just fill out a little sandwich order form and walk out with it a few minutes later. Sandwich, chips and a choice of drink for $6.50. All in, a lovely experience right in the middle of Bricktown. read more

It is truly wonderful to have a candy store in Bricktown, especially one that has amazing service. Bricktown Candy Co. has a bit of a '50s soda shop feel to it, but with candy everywhere. They have a wide selection of candy from gummy bears and jelly beans to chocolate and pop rocks. You can find older candies that don't show up on most shelves anymore at the Candy Co. There is a wall of different candy that is sold by the pound, and you are able to mix and match on a few of them. They also have a jelly bean selection of at least 15 different flavors, and although jelly beans can be pricey, sometimes it is just worth it. In addition to all the candy, they also provide a wide selection of soda pop. Even if you don't want the soda, it is worth looking at some of the flavors. There are some crazy ones mixed in with the more recognizable ones like root beer. My absolute favorite part of Bricktown Candy Co. is their gelato. They change out the flavors occasionally depending on what is fresh and available, so don't get to attached to just one flavor. If like me you do get attached, have no fear: You can try samples to find a new favorite for the day. And did I mention that the flavors are all amazing? The gelato comes in three different sizes served in fun colored plastic bowls. And even if the gelato is hard to serve, the staff there are always happy to get it for you and are some of the most pleasant people you will get a chance to interact with. If you have kids or (like me) you wind up babysitting and need some place to take the kids, this is a great option. Definitely swing by and check out this place. This little candy store is really a lot of fun. They have some old school arcade games which add personality to the store too! They carry quite a few different types of specialty candies and older candies that you wouldn't be able to find other places. They have lots of different taffy options, a huge jelly bean section, old fashioned stick candy, and they even serve gelato. Really, any candy lover would be able to find something they like here. The only downer, is there isn't very much chocolate. I'm assuming it's because it would melt but for a chocolate lover like me, it was a little bit of a bummer. But don't let that stop you! Although pricey, this is the best gelato in bricktown. I've came through OKC a couple times and every time I do I make a stop here for some great gelato. The flavor is awesome. Thought there would have been more variety of candies, other wise still a good shop. There are even some weird candies like a grasshopper in a lollipop, gross to me, might be cool to other people. Had a sample of their gelato. I agree with another yelper who said the gelato had an odd after taste. The gelato was even gooey like it had been sitting there for far too long. While it was a month or so ago that I visited this candy hole, I strongly remember my Sunday experience. I would have to say the actual candy selection was limited at best for being a candy store, which sadly, it didn't stop there. What was available for purchase out of their clear bulk containers looked old and tasted so. None more then a quarter full, a few of the containers were completely empty except for a piece or two, and some of the candies were melted together in fist sized balls. I felt like this was the leavings from the canteen at camp. A wide selection of sodas were available, which I greatly appreciate. And a reasonably selection of gelato looked also picked over but still deliciously tempting, though I had none. The one redeeming factor of my visit? Customer service. It's a small place and has a pretty hefty candy collection for its size, along with some stranger things like crickets (for eating, of course!). I went there for the gelato, though. Yum yum yum. They use sturdy plastic cups for it that are pretty colors @_@. I had bubblegum and it was delicious! I'm willing to venture that if you normally like any of the flavors they have, that you'll quite enjoy their stuff! We came rather early in the morning, the girl behind the counter was ultra-nice, and the selection is fantastic, especially the sodas. I go in there on my break and can get a fresh sandwich of whatever lunch meat, cheese, and veggies I want, a bag of chips, any flavor soda I'm craving and some candy all for under ten dollars. I love this place. They have the best gelato, and everyone is so friendly, although maybe not as friendly as the owner. I'm pretty sure he'd let you try every single type of gelato in the store if you asked. The gelato is clearly my favorite. I do know that they have a lot of candy. This is especially a good place to go to if you're looking for old-fashioned candy like Cherry Mash or rock candy. They don't have artisan chocolate--you'd go to Cocoflow for that, a couple of blocks north on Oklahoma Avenue. They also have pop made with real sugar. Some people care about that sort of thing. I just like the gelato. They don't have a big obvious sign, so don't miss it--it's right next door to Bourbon Street Grill. Oh! and they recycle.
