Checked out this brewery in Freeport after coming across other places that had their beers…read more Generations is one of the main reasons to come here. It certainly has quite a few things on tap. A lot more in cans. They also have a few snacks. By the looks of the outside it wasn't anything special, just like a warehouse or something common. It's a lot more interesting inside. The taproom has enough room for the bar, and quite a few tables. Got a view into the back to see where the beers are made. There's a balcony where bands can play live music too. Beers are why people come of course. It's about $7 a pint. Best one we had of these was the Tawny Ale. This is an Irish Red of medium strength. It's about $12 for a soft pretzel. These are massive so they're great for sharing. One of the dips looked like peanut butter. This was actually fudge if you can believe it, and you can get cheese as well as mustard. For sure it's one of this city's main attractions. It's got lots of beers, and because it's in the Pretzel City, get one of those to munch on. They're closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

A very cool, relaxing, welcoming place to enjoy a beer, have great conversation with a bartender,…read moreand sit outside when the weather permits. A large bar with well designed beer garden. They have a variety of beers and one named after Freeport the Pretzel City! They have lagers, pilsners and ales. The environment is relaxing and the building stands out ! Since the main road is under construction , GPS did not help, but after we realized it kept rerouting us to the closed road. If in the area, stop in. Also their beer can be found in many locations in the Rockford area and some Binnys.

Visiting with out of town guests who were told to meet at corner Gastro pub and chose this instead…read more Would I return? Unlikely. Our wait staff was on her feet and covering the entire patio and indoors. She did a good job checking on us. #6, #7 and #13 were all ordered again so clearly enjoyed. the fried food looked dark (likely oil overuse!) but no rancidity detected thus would definitely recommend the beer dip combo, onion rings or sweet potato fries. Crowd got a bit rowdy after 10. Cars revving engines in lot next door etc. (no fights). Someone had their wallet and phone stolen so keep your wits! Rustic design of bathroom makes it feel like a peep show for same gender. Weird.

Food was good. Sat at a table for 5 outside. It's in the city, yet the outside was wonderful and…read morethe evening was warm, a bit windy but that keeps the flies away so it was comfortable. Chairs and tables were nice, plenty of room yet cozy. Bar outside for quick drinks. Had ok NA options. Nice place inside too. Tables are big for a tavern, real big and even the booths were huge, seat six with room to grow as you eat. All natural wood. Seating was open, pick your own, no hostess. Shrimp salad excellent. Burgers and onions rings perfect. Quesadillas great, cheese curds were crunchy and melted runny inside, as they should be. Pulled pork was good (that's really hard to screw up) Nothing was too salty, we were all raised low sodium so we can taste the actual food. So then, why only three stars? If you don't serve the food at the same time, you lose a star. Nothing irritates me more. Get it together. If you serve the appetizer late, you lost another. Shrimp salad and burger arrived first. TEN minutes passed until we saw the other three orders. Five minutes later the cheese curds appetizer arrived. Really should be 2 stars now because I had the Cubano. These sandwiches have strict rules. It was fine, but the ham is supposed to be real ham, not thinly sliced cheap Carl Budding sandwich ham. Since the atmosphere was so nice and people were friendly and very attentive, three stars seemed appropriate. The chef served the first two dishes and a few others, maybe that's why he's not cooking. There were plenty of servers, we had three. Get your ass back in the kitchen.

Beloit, WI is a little town, 90 minutes from Chicago - O'Hare. There are less than 40,000 people…read moreand a river runs through the city. If you're ever in Beloit, be sure to visit 5BAR. This little joint is hands down the coolest bar I have ever been to. It is unassuming on the outside, but you step in and it is a technicolor wonderland of nostalgic pieces and new art. There is an extensive craft drink list, and the two I had were expertly made. Even better...both were sub $10!! It is super clean, and you can tell that they take pride in their blue heaven. Walk past the genderless bathrooms and there is a separate room (with its own music) where karaoke is held on Saturday nights. There are coloring sheets and even a merch section made from the lost and found. Craft drinks, great decor, good music, and a DOG! Congrats to Levi (owner) and Lady (Corgi) for creating the vibes. It is nothing short of epic.

Can I give more than 5 stars? This place is a diamond in the little town of Beloit. The bartenders know their cocktails as well as their coffee, so both are top notch. I'm a big fan of getting some of both with their espresso martinis. To be honest, I'm not sure I've had a bad drink here. You can really tell the bartenders are proud of their craft, and it shows in their drinks. They even have great nonalcoholic options for non drinkers as well. They have a rotating monthly menu with a different theme so you always have something new to try. They can also make the classics if you're more of a purist. No matter your taste, they'll take care of you. This is such a fantastic addition to the new businesses in Beloit that are making it a city to visit.
