Y'all KNOW if there's a new game store in town I have to show up to scout out the situation…read more Spoiler alert: this one is a WIN. R - Really cool owner. I choose my game shops largely based on interactions with the staff. They can make or break your experience. Mikey was incredibly inviting and upbeat - definitely made us want to come back! O - Opportunity to meet other people that love to game. Rockhopper drew a pretty decent crowd for being open such a short time. Can't wait to see it on a busy day. C - Commander nights on Saturdays and Tuesdays starting at 4pm. Most places start later and make it tough to work into your schedule. This is a huge win for me. K - Knowledge. There is nothing worse than a game store owner that knows nothing about games. Mikey had all the information pertaining to games, sets, scheduling, and his clientele. He's a real one. H - Hangover commander. Yes. Sundays are the day for hangover commander, D&D, and whatever else people are feeling like after a rough Saturday night. We love to see it. O - Open to everyone. As they should be. Happy Pride Month! P - Penguin theme. Self explanatory. P - Pretty good selection of comics, singles, board games, and other various game related items. E - Environment. The location and the vibe were very cool to us. It's nice to have a gaming location outside of the cities that is doing everything right! R - Raffles. Always fun. To conclude: we were pumped to find this spot. I'm curious to see how they'll handle busy times as it's a bit on the smaller side - but I imagine they'll have it all figured out. If I can order singles to this store - it's game over. Go check it out!

This store is one of those "best kept secret" stores that has the great deals on comics and…read morecollectible toys you would want in a specialty shop. The store is also a gaming store that seems to specialize in Magic: the Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons. This past few months has seen major changes in the diversity of merchandise offered. The game store seems to have one of the best selections of gaming miniatures in the area. And recently started to offer paints and everything a budding hobbyist would need. There is a small gaming area where gamers rub elbows as a handful of games could be going on at once. I'm not sure if it is intentional, but the comfortable vibe and excitement overheard about the latest merchandise Is a nostalgic nod to the game stores of the 80s and 90s. The owner is dedicated to the comic and gaming business. He's always there to answer questions, hunt for any special requests or offer a recommendation. Overall, a solid store that is taking strides to be even better. It would be worth checking into this "best kept secret" because it is a fabulous locally-owned business worth supporting.

The name doesn't do this place justice - I'm not sure there's a pinwheel in the store haha. This…read moreshould be called the magical emporium of toys and games galore! When you walk in, you'll be assaulted with floor to ceiling displays of toys in the best way possible. I could see how it could be overwhelming for some, but I loved it. Felt so magical. I stopped in while in the area to get some ideas for holiday gifts and ended up getting my auntie gift duties done here. It's a very large space spanning three different areas, with the areas categorized by theme/age. You'll find everything from plushies to puzzles and everything in between here. Truly so many options for all ages (even those harder to shop for tween/early teen ages). I found some adorable play kitchen items for my 1yo niece, and some sweet dinosaur and car toys for my 3yo nephew here. I also love that I could browse, try things out, test quality, etc here unlike shopping online. I even found something for myself here! I was introduced to the magic of NeeDoh and had to get one. Now I already want to go back and test out some others to get. Service was very friendly - I asked for some recommendations for my niece's age, and one team member walked me through options. During checkout, another was very kind. Prices were reasonable, and I'd much rather spend my money locally than on Amazon this holiday season. Highly recommend swinging in to check this place out for holiday shopping season - shop local!

It's refreshing to see toys- like actual TOYS- available for kids to play with, rather than screens. This place was utterly packed to the gills with stuff, from floor to ceiling. Plush snakes and hoola-hoops hung from the ceiling like streamers and decor. I spent a long time wandering slowly looking at it all, but I truly doubt I saw everything in there; it'd be almost impossible to. Lots of plushies, educational toys, craft sets, slime kits, knick-knacks, stickers, candy, construction toys, trains and planes and emergency vehicles, coloring materials, puzzles, books, etc. I can't possibly name it all. You're just going to have to go see for yourself. Some of the staff were busy unpacking more boxes of stuff and finding places to put it all. Two different team members went out of their way to ask if we needed any assistance and were friendly. The bathroom was clean and has a diaper changing station if you should need. We were fortunate to be there in the middle of a Tuesday, so it was fairly quiet. I can only imagine at other times of day, kids would be tearing around in here loudly and excitedly (I daresay understandably so).
