My Uncle and I set out and visited at least 10 places. I was looking for something reliable that I could pay outright as my last car was destroyed in the flood in July. When we got there for the 2nd visit, Gary came right over and was very helpful. I was looking for something that would give me the next few years car payment free, something sporty and had good pick-up. He showed me this Mazda 3 that looked brand new and was ready to go as is. From Miguel S. of Brick City Motors (6/9/2012): "It was unfortunate that we could never resolve this issue. We corrected some of the mistakes made by other mechanics. We absorbed $1700 dollars in parts and labor. This does not include the rental car we provided. We fixed a few other concerns at no charge. We did invest nearly 50% of the sale price. We did our best to correct the problem. With 5000 cars sold and our customers retuning to buy again referring friends and family to us. This must say something about our business practices. We were awarded Best in Newark for 2011. We realize that even the best can not always exceed or in this case meet expectations. Yes, we disagree but we also respect the fact that you took the time to point this out to us. In so doing, we have increased our quality checks, invested further into customer service training and added to our management staff" And My Response: I do feel the need to repeat the fact that we had to bring our vehicle back to Brick City Motors several times just days, weeks, and months after our purchase, even before bringing it to other mechanics. We had to keep showing up at the business because our calls were largely ignored. Callbacks were rarely returned. We had to bring the car to other mechanics because we were not getting our issues resolved with Brick City Motors. Some of these "other" mechanics just looked at the car and told us to bring it back to Brick City Motors for work that should have been done when it was claimed to have been done. No actual work was done by any other mechanic until our vehicle overheated without warning. Of the numerous times we brought the vehicle back, there were other disappointed and upset customers there and we exchanged stories, sharing each other's frustration. They may not be Yelpers, but they are unsatisfied customers. We are not the only ones! The turnover rate of their mechanics and salesman should also speak volumes on the service WE received during this period. If improvements have been made to their service since then, that is great. Unfortunately, we didn't get to reap the benefits of those improvements. If they took a hit from the sale of our vehicle, might I add, so did we. Looks like we may have both been played on this lemon of a car. I must comment that being the "Best in Newark" for a used car dealership isn't really saying much. I love my city, but it's the shits as far as used car sales go. I won't disagree that Brick City Motors may be one of the better ones to go to in Brick City, but again, that's not saying much. My lesson, don't buy a used car in Newark, New Jersey...and yes, I'd advise against it to anyone who asks! With that being said, I do appreciate a very well written owner response to my reviews. I purchased a 2007 Suzuki SX4 on Wednesday, March 17th, 2021 at 11am. I initially came the day before to look at a different car but I ended up falling in love with the Suzuki. I put a down payment on the car of $1,000 the night before when the system came up but I could not fill out any of the paperwork at that time.The next day, Wednesday the 17th, I came back to put dow the rest of the money for the car. Gary assured me that the car was in good condition multiple times and said that he had the mechanic on duty look at the vehicle and it passed the "inspection" that they did. Gary took the rest of the money before allowing me to take the car for a test drive, claiming that it was a part of the process. After the funds were taken, Gary, my boyfriend and myself took the car for a test drive and nothing was wrong with the car, none of the check engine lights came on and it was at this time I asked was there anything I should know about and he said No, everything was fine. After leaving the lot, and dropping my boyfriend off at home, about 15 minutes past and the check engine, airbag, and tire pressure lights came on. I didn't have time to take it back that day, so the next day I took the car to a mechanic to run diagnostics. I was told that the catalyst converter needed to be replaced and this was something that should have been caught during the inspection that the dealership should have done. My car will not pass state inspection without the catalyst converter. I immediately took the car back to the dealership where I was told that there was nothing that they could do until Monday and how I shouldn't be worried about driving etc etc. The manager was very nonchalant about the whole situation and I felt as though he did not care how concerned I was about something that I was told should have been corrected before I even came and picked the car up. He told me that they only use their mechanics and don't believe what anyone else says because their mechanics are the best. I will give an update on Monday but as of right now I am unsatisfied with my experience. I am very happy with my vehicle. I purchased the vehicle in good condition in and out (and it is still in good running condition). I am very happy with my purchase price as well. I had a limited budget. Brick City has some very inexpensive cars for sale. There was a toyota for sale at an affordable price that wasnt selling, and i asked about it, but was told that it wasnt very good, and that they had a better car that just came in and that he recommended it. A few days later I saw the car, a 1998 chevy Malibu. It has 160k, not bad for a car over 20 years old. They had put in a new battery and wires, cleaned the engine, and it looked and sounded in good shape. Due to corona restrictions, I could not test drive it, but did start it up. i bought the car, $995-less than a thousand, amazing at a car dealership. I was told that the AC was great, it isnt, and it is missing seat belt and there is an issue with the wipers. But for a thousand, what do you expect? The engine is great, starts right up, the car drives solid, the transmission seems great, brakes are not squeaking, tires are near new, and this car should last a couple of years. I will spend $100 next month for AC and seatbelt, and it is going to be fine. I see people complaining about their $10,000 cadillacs, but if prestige and luxury is what is important to you, I would screw you if I could. This town has a lot of poor people bussing it. I am more than happy with basic transportation, and it was provided as I serve the community and dont put on airs. read more

I had to jump through hoops regarding paper work that was needed to secure the loan from the bank. After all of that going back and fourth was over and I got the car the, salesman told me that they would adjust the wheel alignment to stop the car from vibrating. two weeks later i experience the same problem and took it to a real dealership and I was told that the car needed new mounts and routers. I then took the car back to brick city to correct it and I once again went out with one of their mechanics which the mechanic even confirmed that the car had vibrations even when parked. I went back a third time at 9 to drop the car off and i was told that it would take all day and that i couldn't wait. this is a dealership allegedly and they should have accommodations for the buyers. Rick the manager was rude and is an extreme control freak who tells customers what to do. He also said that he was basically tired of hearing my complaint about the repairs. they all lied and said that nothing was wrong with the car . even the salesman Garry sat there and said that he didn't feel anything. I waa informed by the finance company to take it to another location and let them check it . if anything is wrong with the car , brick city motors, will still be responsible for it. I'm with you on letting the better business bureau know about this as well as looking at all legal options. They did me the same way so i know that you are not lying. i dropped the car off at 9 and they called me around 5 just to tell me that they didn't find anything. this is why they didn't want me to wait so that i wouldn't see the bullshit lies . but I will take the necessary steps to correct this matter. I bought a Truck from them in the month of October 2020 and 21 days after I bought it, it had problems and the dash lit up with error messages. I admit that the vehicle had a lot of miles on it but I shouldn't have a check engine light and horrible vibrations, 21 days after buying it. Maybe after 6 months or something, I can see needing to do some work but not 21 days. And of course I bought the truck as a "AS IS" vehicle so no warranty but I didn't think it'd be a problem, especially after they said "they stand behind their vehicles!" When I called, they said they'd get back to me and it never happened. I had to call them 3 times to get someone. And all they said was that they'd give me a break on the repairs. Unfortunately, I had to rate the dealership a 1, because it did not allow you to not select any of the stars. I bought my vehicle in November, and they kept my vehicle for 10 days because the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. After, I received my vehicle the power steering started acting funny. My husband and I called for two weeks straight, leaving messages and no one ever called us back. Finally, after appearing on a Saturday, they scheduled us for an appointment. I went and dropped my vehicle that Monday at 8:30am before they opened, and my best friend took my key back to them at 9:17am. At the end of the day around 5pm I called to find out the status. Would you go figure that they didn't even look at my vehicle!! After making another appointment and this happening again I requested that the owner contact me, it never happened. I took my vehicle to a mechanic who informed me that they had put a used rack and pinion on my vehicle that had a leak and that was why I have been having all the issues I've been having and having to replace ATF oil, literally every 2 days. Since, no one seems to take their business seriously or contact their customers, I have decided to file complaints with the Attorney General, Consumer Affairs, The BBB, and file a small claims lawsuit. I also have contacted the Mayor and News 12. If you want some advice- STAY AWAY from this dealer. Let me start off by saying I was so moved by the professionalism and the Brick City Motors personal touch that I had to share my story. I just want to say what a great and pleasurable experience my daughter and I had with buying a car from Brick City Motors. We found the car advertised online, a 2004 Toyota Solara with 86,000 miles. We live on the west side of New Jersey out in Warren county but my daughter really like what she saw so we took a chance and traveled all the way out to Newark. I am ashamed to say but I was optimistic while driving there with prejudgments already in my head, it was used car dealer in Newark I told myself. On our arrival we were greeted by Miguel who showed us the Toyota Solara and was very upfront about its condition explaining it had been is an accident. He showed us the damage and where is had been repaired. The car overall look in good condition and I understood it was being sold "AS IS". The inside of the car was in great condition and when we put the key in and turned it over it sounded great. We took it for a test drive and drove around Newark and took it on the highway, the car ran great. We purchased the car "AS IS" with no warranty, which I had no issues with and understood what that meant. At no time were any of the sales guys pushy, it was actually an enjoyable experience dealing with the guys on the lot. While driving home the airbag light came on, which was a little concerning especially knowing I purchased an "AS IS" car. I sent an email to the Brick City Motors expressing my concerns; I was called back later that day by Carl who told to bring the vehicle back to have someone look at it. There mechanic who was great by the way located the issue (I wish I knew his name). Angel the service manager located the part and even asked if I wanted to tag along since the only time I've been to Newark before this was to catch a flight. On the way to pick up the part Angel pointed out places to see and places to take my wife for dinner. It was very informative; he went way out of his way to make me feel comfortable. After picking up the part and the tour of the city we headed back to the dealership to have the part installed. Instead of waiting around the dealership as they worked on my vehicle Miguel had Angel take me out to lunch. Everything these guys did at Brick City Motors they didn't have to do, they went above and beyond to correct an issue. Where can I begin. I work alot and finally saved enough money to buy a car . Looked for a car online for this pretty audi S4 convertible contacted Brickcity about the car . A Salesman by the name of Danny help me out. After a few calls to the dealer I finally got it contact with a Karl he a salesmen. I am in sales myself I can honestly say he is amazing and has to much talent to be a brickcity motors. Needless to say I feel in love with the car .Put 5k down and was out the lot. Felt like a little kid filled with joy . Till the next morning when woke up to a flat. Wow they sold me a car with a bad tire.I know it was bad cause Danny put air in the tire while I was at the dealer . 2 days later car was at the dealer fixing my control arms . Waited 5 days to get it back . I work in the city so really didn't plan to drive it much . I decided to take the car in to work and the power steering went and left me stranded thanks Brickcity motors. Waited 4 days for the car. Then had the car for 2 days Check engine light turns on . Drop it back off at the dealer waited another 4 days . Drove the car home and the light came back on . I work late so had to wait a few days before I can make it back to the shop . I don't know cars to we'll but I do know I work had to save the 5k I put down .After 80 calls to dealership . I got the call log to prove it 3 weeks later and 2 monthly insurance payment later I finally get my car back . I have the car for a week now and last night I was having a nice night with my daughter who is 10 years old . I am on the highway and the tire fell off the car. God was on our side on good Friday cause lucky we are alive just a bust lip on my little girl .Turns out that the lugs have not had the tread needed to make sure we where safe. After all these visits to the dealer you would think someone would have seen it . But then again they did sell me a car with a flat tire . So I go to the dealership today .You would think that after all this time and work done by brickcity motors they would take responsibility.  WOW was I wrong wanted to talk to the owner Miguel. He locked his self in the office and had every body talk to me but him . So I knocked on his window and he broke the window from the inside. I have the pictures to prove it. After a few minutes he yells through the window for Me to come in . He then told me  he is not responsible for the car cause  I had it for a week and he was not making any money on the car . So I was out of luck pretty much.After just seeing this man break a window. You can tell he is not all there as a business man.  wish I could say this was a great experience like some of these reviews. I will be contacting a lawyer to help me , and the feeling of a little kid in a  new car is all but gone . Where do I even begin! From the first phone call I made to Brick City and spoke with the owner Miguel, I was comfortable and assured by his voice alone that I needed to go look at some cars. When I arrived, I was greeted by a Salesman named gene. I explained to him I was looking for a car for my daughter who will be turning 17 on Tuesday and couldn't really afford to spend too much on a first car. I'm a good judge of character, and really liked this guy but in the back of my mind I kept thinking he is a Salesman so of course I was leery. We looked at several cars, there are so many great deals in the lot it's unbelievable. I had found one particular car I was interested in one that I Ciukd afford., not once was a pressured to drive or look at something more expensive, so that right there impressed me. After test driving I noticed a few things I wasn't happy about, however I left a deposit and was promised these things would be taken care of. They were taken care of very promptly gene is definitely not your average salesman. For the next few weeks gene and I have become texting buddies back and forth back and forth I was a bit of a pain in the ass and even if he thought I was hey never let me know it. I have made about four separate trips down there at this point I'm getting to know everyone the manager whose name slips my mind was as friendly and nice as well as the girls in the office. Well I picked up my car yesterday, have it hidden in my neighbors driveway because my daughter knows nothing at all about this car. I truly feel they're all as excited as I am to give this car to my first born. I even got the chance to brick cities very own rocky the Dog... Even Rocky was sweet and friendly as I carried him around and he loved me too. We are already planning a trip back to Brick City for a truck for my husband. Its a warm friendly and non pushy environment that other car dealers should be more like. I highly recommend Brick City if you are looking for a wonderful used car. 04/23/2013 My name is Audrey Evans This is my car experience at Brick City Motors. I was desperately in need of a used car. I had my fears because, truthfully I am one of millions of women who are not mechanically inclined and can not even fake it. What I did was trust the opinions of some of my closet friends who are also women and who like me are also not car savvy, and who can only afford used cars. These all said the same thing to me: "Audrey go to Brick City Motors." So I listened. I remember sitting in the waiting area, nervous, pondering just how it would all turn out. No one wants to admit when they are vulnerable. Suddenly I heard a kind voice say "My name is Carl, come right into my office." I introduced myself and spoke frankly to him. I said: "I am a single parent and I am looking for a safe car to drive for myself and my daughter." She is my only child and the ride must be safe. Besides that, this is all the money I have for a car, so it has to be a sure shot." To my surprise and amazement, Carl began to pull up different cars in my price range on his computer, he openly and honestly pointed out the faults as he knew them about each car I showed excitement over. "No, he said: you don't want that one, it has been in three accidents." And again, "No that one might need engine work." Carl then said that he'd had his own sights set on this van in the yard, would I care to see it? We walked outside and I was shown a pristine Plymouth Voyage. He opened its doors and I fell in love. The previous owner had treated it immaculately, at least from all outward appearances. Then Carl stared its engine and I hear it purr. At that point I was sold, but that was not good enough for Carl. He took me back to his office and ran the CAR FACTS on that vehicle. I was amazed. It read like a good report card. No odometers roll back, no thief report, no flood damage, no fire damage...etc and it showed every year and date in which the Plymouth Voyager had gone through New Jersey Inspection. I said: "This is the one I want." Carl walked past a waiting area packed with people, took the keys and went back outside I saw him backing my chosen vehicle out, I wondered where he was going, so I asked him. He said: "I am going to do a preliminary test drive for you myself." INCREDIABLE!!! Once Carl came back he handed the keys to his chief mechanic and ordered a diagnostic be run on the car. By that time I was jumping out of my set to drive it off the lot. A short time later Carl came up to me and said: "The test came back excellent, but it revealed the radiator is leaking." He stated: "We DON'T do patch work here, so I have ordered you a new radiator. Come back Monday and pick up your new car." Then Carl drove my daughter and myself home. INCREDIABLE!!! When I left Brick City Motors that day, I felt so very, very special. Truthfully Carl had treated me like, well...like I was HIS DAUGHTER, someone he had seen saving up her pennies and he wasn't ABOUT to let me be ripped off. There are used car dealerships to the left and right of Brick City Motors. What makes people like me bypass the rest? Brick City Motors itself! Their reputation precedes them, all because of men like Carl. I now know why my friends wanted me to go to Brick City Motors. The used cars they'd purchased were still on the road. These vehicles like Carl and his wonderful staff had to have integrity. Carl is a champion to women like me. Carl is honest and kind. Unless I have a reversal of fortune, which is very unlikely, I foresee other used cars in my future, but NO TIME SOON!!! When my Plymouth Voyage is on its very last legs I will chug-a-lug it back to Brick City Motors and get me another great deal from Carl. I would highly recommend Brick City Motors to others because of the work ethic there. Which seemed to me to be, 'treat people with respect and give them what they pay for, and people will beat a path to your door.' Lastly I want to mention Brick City Motors' great selection and prices. I failed to say that my beautiful Plymouth Voyage, besides being in excellent condition, was fully loaded!!! It has a Sony 10 disc CD changer, cassette player, T.V., DVD player two separate radios's, embroidered upholstered seats, wooden framed doors, ceiling flood lights, and rimmed wheels and had only 124,000 miles on the vehicle. It's called a Conversion Van and everything works! I don't gamble, but that day at Brick City Motors and my now, good friend Carl I hit the JACKPOT. I got all this for $3995!! Carl even went on line and ordered me an Owner's Manual as a gift. Everyone should go to Brick City Motors. I recommend it, before going anywhere else. I am a real person.
