I had my fiancé's Bachelors degree professionally framed here and the price was a little over $200- with a final choice of a dark cherry wood frame. They accept credit cards, cash, checks, or Venmo- which is what I used. The turn around time was about two weeks, with appointment only requirements. I have been using Briarcliff Frame for more than ten years. Unfortunately, the shop has changed ownership and the new ownership does not pay the same level of attention to providing high quality framing. I recently spent more almost $700 to custom frame an original watercolor. The watercolor is ruined and was framed with wrinkles in the watercolor. As framed, it is so bad I cannot display this original artwork in my home. I contacted the store about the poor quality of the framing and requested that the owner call me to discuss. But, instead of calling me directly, the owner decided not to call me and delegated the task to an associate. Today, I took the picture back to the shop and again complained. I requested a full refund of the cost of the framing but did not demand that the owner also pay for the damaged original artwork. The associate in the store apparently contacted the owner who proposed that they refund 50% of the price of the framing and they would generously allow me to keep the poorly framed artwork. This was intended as a gift for my wife. I told the associate that anything less than a full refund would not be satisfactory. The associate told me I could call the owner on Monday to discuss - no offer for the owner to call me to discuss the situation. This is the same owner who previously refused to call me. Regrettably it appears my only recourse will be to take them to small claims court to recover the cost of the framing and the original artwork. So be it - I tried to resolve this issue with the owner for a reasonable amount. Now, she will likely have to pay much more than if she had just addressed the situation in full recognition that they damaged the artwork which is now worthless to me. If you have original or one of a kind artwork find another shop. Also, to those of you who have shopped at Briarcliff for many years - beware this is not the same store it once was. The current store management apparently does not value long time customers, does not care about the quality of their work product and can't handle even the basics of customer service. In short: 1. Poor workmanship 2. Failure to admit the framing was not done correctly; and 3. Abysmal customer service with an absentee owner who can't be bothered to speak with a long term customer about a framing job that was indisputably bad. I recommend finding another framing shop - the new version of Briarcliff Framing is a poor facsimile of the original store. read more

Small town frame shops are hard to find; good ones are even harder to find. Where to people go to get their paintings or photos custom framed? Briarcliff Frame Shop is a wonderful place just around the corner from me and I'm glad they were here to expertly place my new artwork I acquired on a wood frame. Recently I made a trip to Peru and bought these beautiful paintings from a local artist. For transport, they took them off the frame for me so that I can roll them up. However, that meant I had to come back and get them pinned onto a wood frame. Luckily I had come across Briarcliff Frame Shop after driving past it a few times. I brought in the paintings and they knew exactly what I needed to get the job done (I really should learn more about paintings....). They gave me a price, a timeline for turnaround and a phone number in case I wanted to check on the status. The phone number wasn't necessary because their communication was sufficient. Within 2 weeks, I got a call to let me know that they were ready for pick up. They pay a lot of attention to detail and I thought they did a great (and careful) job of pinning my paintings. They will hang nicely in the house... just got to find the right place for them. I highly recommend Briarcliff for all your framing needs. I'm glad they're so close to us! read more

I reached out to the shop a few weeks ago about a custom framing job, and I e-mailed detailed specs to the gentleman who answered. He promised to call back after finishing a job and reviewing my e-mail "in 10 to 15 minutes," but he never called me back, even after I left a follow-up voicemail two days later. I guess they don't need the business or don't have the customer service skills to follow-up? Either way, it's a big letdown since other reviews are so good. The staff at Briarcliff Frame Shop is friendly, approachable and helpful with a selection. The custom framing they produce has always been great. Miss D. dropped off an old map she wanted framed. Briarcliff framed the map as she asked, but then they agreed with Miss D. that it didn't look good without the mat, and agreed to redo the project with the mat, only adding the cost of the matting to the price. That is "above and beyond" the project agreed upon and I am upgrading Briarcliff Frame Shop with an extra star. THIS is how you take care of people. They also sell pre-framed art from the showroom. Sometimes orders take a couple weeks to fill, and you do have to put down a 50% deposit, as people leave their framed poster (purchased for $4.95 rolled up) and forget to come back. They are good about calling me and telling me that my order is ready, usually 10-14 days after dropping off. Expensive, work does not hold up under normal conditions. This shop is one of those small, family owned businesses that, as a consumer, you very much want to support. You trade personal attention and craftsman like approach to the task for a higher price. It's generally a worthwhile trade off, and one you feel great about . "I'm supporting a locally owned business." Over the years, I have done thousands of dollars in business with the Briarcliff Frame shop. I've always been pleased with their help picking out frames, and the quality of the product I have gotten back has always been high. As a result, I have brought some things that have great value to me in to be framed by them. They're nice people, and a pleasure to work with. Things were always done in the time specified. Unfortunately, I have noticed a disturbing trend as the years have gone by. Almost every single piece that I brought to them to be framed has started bubbling. These are not pieces that I can replace, things signed by artists etc., and it's really sad to see it happen. None of the work in question is in a room where it was exposed to undue humidity or conditions. As a result, I no longer trust this shop with my valuable framables. I'm willing to pay a price for quality, but I expect the work to match the price. read more

They take as much time as necessary showing me multiple frames and multiple looks to help me narrow down my choices. Their patience is unending. They've also got a great eye for knowing what will look good, offering suggestions and ideas that will help me discover my vision for a piece. They're not only knowledgeable and professional with their frame work, but they're also very friendly, engaging and customer focused, making sure you leave happy and satisfied. I know how much framing can enhance a piece of art - triple matting, beveled edges, painted edges. I'm susceptible to all the bells and whistles! It can get expensive but there's usually a coupon on their web site to help keep costs down. In addition to the frame business, the rest of the store is a gift shop filled with cute home decorating items. It's worth checking out even if you don't need their framing service. They did a good job with the three jobs I've brought them. Custom frames are indeed pricey, so if you can bring in your own and have them mat and fit it, it is a lot cheaper. They also ask for 10-14 days to do a job, which I'm pretty sure they can do in 30 minutes. But otherwise, the store is run by very nice people and I had a good experience overall. read more

I have used Briarcliff Frame Shop since I discovered them through a family recommendation about 5 or 6 years ago. They have framed a couple dozen pieces of art for me over the years. The staff is extraordinarily creative. I invite them to make suggestions and what they put together is amazing and really enhances the artwork. The results always exceed my expectations. They are true artists in the art of framing. I found a hand-painted family coat of arms painted on leather in the attic of a family member. I had treated by a museum restoration company. Briarcliff took such care to see that it would be preserved in the framing process also. I have taken many old family portraits for framing as well. The quality of their work has stood the test of time. Recently, I moved from Atlanta to SC and after some search in my new area and one disappointing framing job; I decided to take my next piece of art back to Atlanta to be framed. The owner had a relative coming to SC two weeks later and they personally arranged delivery to me. They definitely go the "extra mile". read more

I use Briarcliff for absolutely all of my framing, in fact I think they have probably framed almost every piece of artwork in my house. Their selection of frames is fantastic, and the staff really knows their stuff. I usually walk in with little to no idea of what I want, and within 15 minutes they have found the perfect frame and mat for my artwork.
