Same story as others - "overslept" and completely kept on the hook, never showed up. Total SCAM. Scheduled (and confirmed the day before) for arrival at 9am to help my parents load a UHaul. 9am comes and goes with no Brian or crew and no contact or response to texts or calls. Hours later he says "so so sorry we overslept - my crew ha been working such long hours and we will be there for sure." More hours go by, nothing. My father texted to tell Brian we were canceling since he still hadn't seen anyone show up or heard from him on an update at 1pm, and Brian responded with "we are still coming! My guys have been in contact and are all awake now. Realistic expectation is 3pm. We are the very best movers, and I'm really sorry for the inconvenience." Guess what- it's 5pm, and Brian and his guys still aren't here and never followed up again. This is the rudest most inconsiderate thing I could ever imagine. My poor parents waited hours and hours on these people who didn't even have the courtesy to update them or let them know they couldn't make it. My parents confirmed the time and job the day before and everything, and now are left with nothing and wasted money on equipment. This has to be a scam. Pretty disgusting person this Brian guy is. Absolutely do not trust that this person/business will show up, even if he is in contact with you up until the day before. read more

We hired Brian's Expert Movers to load and unload our trailer when we moved last month, and they were excellent! They confirmed our appointment a few days before and showed up right on time and with masks (which were still required by the state of Oregon at the time) In two hours they moved all of our big furniture out of one house and into the next, and they did a great job organizing the truck to hold as much as possible, so we took fewer trips. I'd definitely recommend them if you need some help with the heavy lifting part of your move. read more

He prefers to only text, which is annoying. Then after confirming I don't hear back from him again. Day before the move, I beg him to confirm - nothing. Day of the move, no one shows up. Had a trailer booked for a Sunday morning move and got confimration with Brian that they would be there at 10:30am. 11, 12, 1... no call no show! We texted him and literally no response till 3 pm when he texted that he had overslept and wasn't feeling well. This guy didnt have the courtesy to call or text that they weren't coming. Find someone else. Moving is stressful enough. I waited 48 hours to write this to make sure I wasn't still fuming. I scheduled Brian's services a few weeks in advance, left messages for him to call me and filled out the contact form on his website. He only responded via text. And only every few days, even though I kept requesting a call back. I couldn't even get a quote or feedback on size of truck I should rent or anything. I requested 3 movers for 3-4 hours. And I had a piano. Brian texted me that he overslept (an hour after he was already supposed to be there) and he'd be there soon. More text excuses-- waiting on his workers, waiting on a ride, etc. Then texts that he's having four movers come instead of three. I told him I wasn't paying for a fourth. They showed up 3.25 hours late and with only two people, Brian and his partner (who worked his butt off all day). By the time they showed up, we had most boxes loaded into the truck. An hour later, two other guys showed up. Here are the good things I can say-- the three guys who worked this job (other than Brian) were awesome. They were hardworking, irritated with Brian for his lack of preparation (he didn't tell them I had a piano, so they didn't bring what they needed), took really good care of my items, communicated well with me and with one another. At the end of the job, Brian requested more than he'd quoted, even though we'd finished early (because we spend two hours loading boxes before they got there and we worked with them the entire time), he showed up 3.25 hours late, and there were only two of them the first hour. I even gave him $20 more than he'd quoted me. I would have gladly tipped the other guys but I was too pissed at Brian at the time to negotiate a new price and gave all the cash I had to him. read more

I wanted to do my move on Saturday, he said they were busy Saturday, could probably fit me in, but Sunday was wide open, would that work better? So I agreed to do Sunday, asked for morning, he said they could be there at 12p. 11:30a rolls around, he texts me and says he's running late, it will be a lot later, would I like to reschedule for tomorrow.... Um, no, we already have a moving van, we cannot reschedule. No answer after that. So I text him after 12 came and went, if he was still even able to come. He finally gets back to me, he can have another crew out. At that point, we had already half loaded the van, I asked if he could just have 2 guys meet us at the unload location. He says sure. Quarter to 2, I text and confirm that they're still coming. No response. Quarter past 2, I ask if they're still even coming. He replies, "what, they're not there?" Clearly not, since I am asking you that question. 4 texts over 90 minutes, are they even still coming. You can't call and leave a message, his voicemail is full. 2 hours after they were supposed to be there, I told him not to even bother showing up and that he can expect a bad review. He texts me an hour later and claims to have been out of reception and that he will fire the crew that no-showed. I call BS. It was 97 degrees outside, I wouldn't want to move in this either, which is why I was going to hire professional help. My guess, they didn't want to move in this heat. The company name couldn't be more ironic. I hired two employees of "Portland's Expert Movers" to load a 28' ABF moving trailer used for a move from Washington to California. To start, the two employees of "Portland's Expert Movers" were four and a half hours late - even though I booked them almost four weeks in advance. This tardiness derailed my already-tight interstate moving schedule in a big way. It only gets worse from there. When the ABF trailer arrived at its destination, the employees of the company I hired to unload the trailer discovered that Portland's Expert Movers had failed to use the provided (and abundant) padding materials to pack large appliances, i.e., washer, dryer, refrigerator, air conditioner, and smaller items too numerous to list. The padding materials were essentially just thrown in the trailer unused with the rest of the load. The result? Extensive and severe damage to the aforementioned appliances. My dryer looked like someone had beat on the top with a sledge hammer. You could literally pull the top of the dryer up and look inside! When I contacted Portland's Expert Movers to report the damage to my property, I was met with insistent denial of responsibility and a refusal to answer any (repeated) questions about their insurance coverage. I was asked to send photos of damaged items, and I obliged. I have not received any communication from "Portland's Expert Movers" since the photos were sent almost a week ago. Fortunately for me, the employees of the company who unloaded the trailer also took photos of the appliances before they were moved or unloaded. These employees can also provide statements re: the unused padding materials, etc. In sum, I hope this horror story will serve to warn other potential victims re: "Portland's Expert Movers." Hands down the worst company I've ever done business with. I too was met with texts instead of calls and also was late about 45 minutes. Brian took multiple smoke breaks where he just stood there on his phone (which I was paying for). i finally cut it short and dismissed him and his shady looking friend and he of course tried to over charge me after damaging my property, the walls of my new house, and left all my possessions strewn all over the living room on the first floor in a huge mess. We sat and argued for a bit because it was obvious he was not going to pay for the damage he caused. then to try overcharging me on top of that was inexcusable. I'm pretty forgiving of difficult circumstances but the sheer level of unprofessionalism was astounding. None of my heavy furniture even made it to the correct rooms. I even checked his van periodically to make sure none of my things ended up in there and wrote down his license plate because I was so uncomfortable with him and his entire horrendous operation. Whatever money you think you will save by hiring this company will pale in comparison to the sheer stupidity you will have to endure just to save It. You are better off hiring a pack of homeless people leaving a methadone clinic or maybe a 9 month old baby. I had talked to Brian on several occasions about my move, they were supposed to show up at a specific time and location. He asked me if we could change the time and I did but the problem was is that he or any of his people ever showed up. All he would have had to do is let me know that they did not want to do the job but they didn't, they just stood me up on the job. I. Would or ever will recommend them to anybody. Brian mentioned weekend were busy and could I be flexible.They actually texted to see if they could show up early, and their timing was perfect! I was just doing an across the street move and they hauled all the heavy stuff and more down the stairs and back up to the new apartment. We're very pleased with Brian and his crew and the service they provided. Ours was not an easy move. We had 2,000 cubic feet of stuff that had to be shuttled in a rented box truck from a UPack trailer (BTW, UPack was the ideal long distance solution for us to get our stuff up here from San Jose - look them up!) in a nearby church parking lot (Oregon folks are really nice - we appreciated the kindness) because it was too big to park any closer. Brian and I stayed in touch by text from the beginning and he responds quickly. We got along great. They got a late start, but that was OK with us. I'm glad for anyone who's busy these days. They worked like crazy when they got here, but were careful with our stuff. Some of our pieces are enormous (including 3 armoires; grandfather clock, etc) and many of them are antiques, plus we have 16 steps to the front door, and had heavy boxes of books and many awkwardly shaped boxes for wall hangings, but these guys made it all work. Oh, it was raining some, too. Brian's team has a finely tuned system of working together and they get along with each other well. They were fun to be around. One of the guys is really opinionated, one hardly speaks at all, and the other is like whatever-mellow, and every one of them works non-stop. We shared dinner afterward and had a nice chat. Brian's got it priced right and we feel we got a very fair return on our money. read more

I wish I had read the reviews on here. The negative reviews all came true for my move. I was the first move of the day yet he was two hours late. Only communicated via text. No discussion of what happened if they took longer than expected, which they did because Brian works slowly and lazily, so he demanded an additional $240 VIA TEXT while in route to my new place, which kind of felt like holding my stuff hostage. Seemed upset when I didn't magically have that extra cash handy and wouldn't take a check. Broke a chair (dropped it right in front of me and a wheel flew off) and didn't even say sorry. I'll never use him again and I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. read more

I was very impressed by Brian and Daniel! While the two were late, Brian explained the job they were working before mine ran over. I somewhat expected this with booking an evening time spot. The two arrived, introduced themselves and were very polite. They immediately began working and were able to pack my items in the truck to optimize the limited amount of space I had available. They came prepared with all the items they could possibly need. I also appreciated the use of moving blankets on the floor of the moving truck to keep my furniture from getting dirty. This is not something I have ever seen another mover do. I would highly recommend them to any of my friends and will be using them again for my next move, which hopefully isn't for a long time! I mean, who likes moving anyway? :) I've read the other reviews and am shocked! This is a small business owner and not one of the large chain/corporate moving companies. I feel Brian did the best he could with my move. Sure there were moments when I grew frustrated, but overall I was super impressed with the level of service I received. Coming from a family where my father owns his own company, I guess I am a little more understanding of the challenges faced by small business owners. I've seen my dad get stressed out due to a client's failure to be understanding of the fact he was just one person with a very small crew that could only do so much. If you want a company who will kiss your butt, suck up to you, be completely fake, and charge you a great deal of money, feel free to hire one of the national moving companies. However, if you want to support the working class of America, encourage more small businesses for the local economy, and are willing to be a little patient and understanding, hire Brian!! read more

Brian contacted me several times prior to the move via text to confirm the date and time. He was also responsive to my text inquiries each and every time I sent one. He and another worker showed up on time, and worked hard moving heavy items upstairs at my new home. I found them courteous, professional, and absolutely fair providing really good value vs their competition. There was no up-selling or hidden charges, as I knew exactly what I'd pay from the onset. I read the reviews and I understand why Brian may be perceived as being lazy- he takes a few pauses that customers hear as the clock ticking away dollars! But I think he's mentally packing everything in- like putting a puzzle together, picturing it in his head first, which is pretty smart! Awful experience. Here's what happened to me: I hired Brian to help me move the heavy furniture out of my old apartment (I had already moved most of the smaller items in boxes throughout the week). I had requested 2 movers for 3 hours, since I figured it would take 2 strong people to get my heavy furniture out of my 4th floor apartment (and, for the record, I am fairly petite and didn't consider myself a great asset in moving furniture). I was to meet Brian at my local Uhaul station at 5pm. At 5pm I get a text message from him, stating that traffic was poor and that he would be late. I was a bit irritated, however I know that its not his fault if traffic is bad so I parked my uhaul truck and waited for him. After about 15 minutes, I receive another text stating that he could not find anybody to help him, so he would be the only mover arriving. Now, I start to become more irritated. He would not be able to carry all of my furniture by himself (its just not possible for one person), and I could only be of meager assistance (not that I should have to move my own furniture when I'm paying for 2 movers), so I knew this wouldn't work. I tried to call Brian to let him know that I would have to cancel since this move would be impossible with only one person. After getting his voicemail, I left a message and drove home. 15 minutes later, I receive a series of 3 text messages (not sure why he texts instead of calling me directly), each one angrier than the last about how I wasted his time and gas. Now, none of this would've have happened if he had just called me before he started driving to the uhaul station, letting me know that he would not be arriving with a second mover. I could have rescheduled to a better time, avoiding a complete cancellation and saving him the time and gas that he would inevitably be wasting since there was NO WAY that one person could complete this move by themselves. He should have known this, and what on earth he was thinking that evening is beyond me. So, please do not hire Brian. He is unprofessional to every meaning of the word, and the savings you get from his cheap services will mean very little if he cannot even do the job that he has been hired to do. read more

These guys are A joke. Who texts a client who is potentially going to be handing you a wad of cash? Get a clue- a REAL business will respond promptly via phone. Texting is great, after you've established with your potential client that this is a good way of communication. One should always have someone "on dispatch" to take calls. LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE! They communicated they would be there 2pm. By text they said that they would be a few hours late. They showed up approx 3 hours late. Worked for a couple hours, then said they had to leave to do some other business. I was told they would be back as soon as they could. They came back around 4 in the morning! They told me to leave the house unlocked, and get some sleep at my new house, and come back to drive the Uhaul. When we left for the storage after they loaded the truck, my driveway was full of cigarette butts. They unloaded at the storage facility, they charged me full price for horrible service. read more

HORRIBLE experience!! My neighbor at my old apartment complex hired Brian to move them to their new home. He and his helper seemed nice so I asked him for his card and told him I would be calling to book him to move me in a few weeks. I called weeks in advance to schedule my move and confirmed it with Brian via text in advance...twice! A week in advance and then again the day before. Day of the move arrives...first thing on a Monday morning. I go rent the UHaul and Brian texts me to say they're running behind because their first job took two trips instead of one. I wait and start carrying what I can downstairs by myself and putting it n the truck. I get another text from Brian that they're running late, but they'll be there. The day dragged on...with me loading everything I possibly could on my own...all the while with Brian's continued assurance that they were on their way and would be there soon. At some point, between noon and 1:00 I think, Brian stopped responding and I started panicking because I was running out of time. At around 2:00, it became clear to me that they had stood me up. At around 3:00, I started calling around and was fortunate to find another local company that came to my rescue; however, we got a late start. They were tired after having worked all day in the heat. It was getting dark, etc. Once we got everything moved and unloaded, I still had to go back over to my old place and clean. I had planned to do it that afternoon. Instead, I worked through the night and I ended up having to take another day off work to return the truck and finish cleaning that morning. I still missed the deadline so I then had to pay another day of rent at the old place. I was completely stressed out! I receivesd no real explanation or compelling reason, nor did I receive any form of apology from Brian. This was a huge inconvenience and imposition. After reading similar reviews here, it appears Brian and his crew don't think twice about ditching advance reservations for bigger, higher paying gigs at the last minute. read more

Beware, This guy says or said that he had insurance and it turns out that he did not. He broke my $6k stone table and signed a promissory note to pay it off. A year later and he will not even respond. They do not show up when promised and stand around and wait for the rest of their crew. I suspect that with all cash payment they are not paying state workers insurance and certainly not paying taxes like the rest of us do. I am headed to court with him. I have nothing good to say about this company. I have used the company before with problems both times, but the job got done (sort of). I don't know why I went with them a third time but there will be no 4th. I picked up (and paid) for a truck so that I could meet the movers at 12:00pm. At 11:45 I get a text from "Brian" saying that they are backed up and will be a few hours late! Apparently he has no respect for my time. I told him that was unacceptable. He said there was nothing he could do, some people just must under quote him for timing and take longer than expected. I can accept this once, but it is the same excuse he has used every time. I think he double books on purpose and leaves people hanging. That is the only thing I can think of. I waited 4 hours. He never showed and I left. They were supposed to start at 8am on Monday morning.... they text me at 3am to let me know theyd be there at 11, then 11 turned to 1pm, then that turned to 4.40 pm.. which is when they finally showed up... no apologies , just lame excuses. The guy who was the ' helper' was actually very pleasant and helpful , but Brian was sullen and unfriendly. He spent about 1/4th of the time on his phone texting and setting up other appts.... on the clock! When they finally finished around 9 pm , Brian charged me $100 over the estimate,, this after they were over 8 hrs late , requiring me to pay an extra day of the Uhaul truck and loose 1/2 day of work.... Note... Brian never would call me ONCE during the booking or moving process .. TEXT only....I was about $70 short on cash cuz I never could have imagined the move going that long, so I asked Brian if I could bring or mail him the $70 .. his reply ,,,NO The helper agreed to take my check against his pay... THESE GUYS SUCK. I will never use them again nor would I recommend them to anybody else. I paid for 3 movers. Brian showed up with one other guy and his girlfriend as the third mover. Brian's girlfriend could only lift small boxes and couldn't help with moving any of the larger pieces of equipment I had. In addition, I had a heavy piece of metal working equipment that I needed moved. I'd had it successfully moved at least a dozen times in the past by other movers. I told Brian and the other guy exactly how it had been moved in the past. They insisted on moving "their" way. On top of that Brian's girlfriend couldn't help. In fact they told her to stand back so she didn't get hurt. They dropped my metal working equipment on it's face and broke a handle. They didn't seem to care. We moved from Washougal to Vancouver the other day. I found the listing for Brian's Expert Movers on craigslist and decided to give them a try after seeing recent favorable reviews. Our other choice was booked on the day we needed them. I won't lie, my expectations were low. I thought at best, we'd get some muscle to help lug the heavy stuff around. Brian responded to my inquiry promptly and politely and even confirmed again before I got a chance to. They arrived promptly and we're clean, nice individuals, my things were handled with care and the guys were fun and respectful of our furniture and boxes. Of special note, I had requested a nondescript box (full of my great frandmother's antique tea cups) specifcally be delivered to the new home and not to storage and even though it wasn't labeled, and even though I made the request in the midst of the hustle and bustle, it made it safely to the new place. I saw the truck as they were packing it; it was the neatest truck I've seen. Everything found a secure spot and again, was neat and orderly. These guys are also FAST. Our apartment was empty in about two hours and everything delivered to the new place in even less. I'm pretty difficult to please but my husband and I were impressed. We'll be using them again when we move into our new house. Great experience and very happy. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I never write Yelp reviews but would like to spare someone else the terrible experience I had. I always feel bad writing these things when it's small screw-ups because I hate the thought of messing with someone's business, but these people deserve it. Brian completely screwed me over. First of all, Brian was totally disorganized, didn't bother to read my request form and gave me the wrong quote, then substituted a higher quote at the last minute even though the low quote was his mistake. He agreed to knock a few dollars off the high quote but it was still much higher than I'd been expecting, and I felt like I had no choice but to accept it at that point because it was too late to find anyone else. He also never apologized for giving me the wrong quote, just basically was like "We're busy, I get tons of requests for quotes." The night before my move, around 9 pm, he texted asking if they could come at 9:30 instead of 11, even though I'd told him explicitly that 11 was the earliest I was available. Well, it wasn't really an ask, it was more like telling me this was going to happen. This was inconvenient for me because I work late nights and had the next morning planned down to the second, but I compromised and agreed to a 10 a.m. start, with less than 12 hours notice. At 9:50, I was ready to go. At 10:24, I texted him to be like "Call me when you're outside!" and got a text saying, "I overslept. Seeing if we can still get the truck." Seriously. I asked him to call me. He didn't. I gave him ten minutes, then twenty, while I sat there on the couch freaking out. I texted him several times very politely asking him to give me an update. He didn't. I called him three times and he didn't pick up. An HOUR later he sent ONE text saying "Hang on. Trying to figure everything out." That was the last text I received from him. I send a few more increasingly panicked texts, polite ones (I still felt like I had no option but to deal with him) and he just didn't bother to reply. It took me hours to find someone else. I'm glad I did! I highly recommend Rodrigo at Brothers' Movers. He was extremely professional and it ended up being around HALF of the high quote Brian had given me. (Another reason never to use these people.) But finding a mover that can come immediately on the first of the month is not easy. In fact, it was really fucking hard and stressful and put me way behind schedule and I had to take whoever I could get. Was just lucky Rodrigo ended up being great. Brian's "Expert" Movers left me high and dry and never ONCE apologized for it. They honestly could not have cared less. read more

Saturday came and I got a call from a mover telling me he was on his way. that was great Except when 9 rolled around he never showed I texted and was told he was on way would be 15 min. 45 min goes buy the he calls me and tells me he is going to go pick up his bike and do some stuff and would be 1/2 hour. finally after 1 more hour I called the company and asked what was going on and why the mover never showed up. they informed me someone was on the way would be another 1/2 hour.. no one they I got a call from a guy saying he was on way this happed 4 times by 4 different people in a 2 hour period. Finally at 12 noon someone showed up at my house and told me it was his day off and had to be called in. after we got moved I called to let this company know I was going to give a bad review and the lady on the phone started threatening me and cursing at me screaming at me so of course I was yelling at her. and when I told her I was going to really make sure they didn't get anymore business she apologized and was trying to make it up to me by telling me Brian would come to my house and do repairs or yard work to make it up . I told he I wanted half my money back and she was suppose to let me know and I have never got a response. They lied to me all morning telling me they were on way when they were not. they didn't do a good job being careful with my stuff and the office woman is so rude they have no customer service what so ever. they are miss leading and a terrible company. I have a bad back and cant lift anything heavy that's why I hired them. I had to load half my U-Haul before they even showed up. We had a move scheduled and our movers did not show up, so we contacted Brian's Expert Movers at the last second. Brian and one other mover showed up about an hour after we contacted them (last minute). They were very experienced and very hard working. We appreciate that they showed up for us when our original moving company did not! Thank you guys! read more
