I highly recommend Dr. Su and his team who provide expert care. Dr. Su goes above and beyond to properly diagnose and treat his patients. His YouTube channel is an excellent resource for any patient to understand their condition and treatment options. Dr. Su truly cares and advocates for his patients. He is not one to rush to surgery. However, if you require surgery, he is excellent.

Top of Mt. Lassen 3 months after back surgery!

I never anticipated that I would be climbing Mt Lassen three months after my spinal fusion!! Dr. Brian Su rocks! My only regret is not getting my surgery earlier. I could barely walk without unbearable pain before this. Thanks Dr. Su!

    L5-S1 implant

This review is way overdue for Dr. Su and his amazing team, his PA Connor and MA Bruno. I'm 6 months post L5-S1 fusion surgery and let me tell you, Dr. Su saved my life. I suffered from degenerative disk disease for about 7 months prior to meeting Dr. Su. My pain was unimaginable, 10/10. I would randomly get a pinched nerve that would literally paralyze my lower body and drop me on my knees on weekly basis. I tried physical therapy, spinal decompression, medication, nothing worked and finally I got on NSAIDS 24/7. I started losing hope until one day my wife found "The Spine Guy" aka Dr. Brian Su:) I cannot recommend Dr. Su highly enough for anyone seeking top-tier care for spinal issues. My experience under his care was exceptional from start to finish. From the moment, I walked into his clinic, the atmosphere exuded professionalism and comfort. The staff were welcoming, efficient, and made the entire process seamless. Dr. Su's expertise and compassion were evident during our initial consultation. He took the time to listen attentively to my concerns, thoroughly explained the diagnosis, and outlined all available treatment options in a way that was easy to understand. His depth of knowledge was truly impressive and instilled a great deal of confidence. The surgery itself was a success, and throughout the process, Dr. Su and his team provided exemplary support. Post-surgery care was meticulously planned, and they were always available to address any questions or concerns that arose during my recovery. What sets Dr. Su apart is not just his remarkable surgical skills but also his genuine care for his patients. He made sure I felt comfortable every step of the way and provided continuous support throughout my recovery journey. Thanks to Dr. Su's expertise and dedication, I've experienced a 100% improvement in my quality of life. I'm beyond grateful for his exceptional care and would unequivocally recommend him to anyone in need of a skilled and compassionate spine surgeon. Thank you, Dr. Su!

I have dealt with my back and left leg pain for over 20 years but only 7 years ago I found out that I have L5-S1 Spondylolisthesis. It was hard for me to trust anyone to operate on my back it is a serious surgery. I came across Dr Su YouTube channel (The Spine Guy) thanks to my husband and I learned so much about my back problem that I made an appointment to drive 2 hours to meet him for a consultation. First I noticed his office was super close to Marin Hospital so that was convenient. The front staff was nice and office or waiting room was clean and welcoming (Love the Mural pictures on the walls of Marin hilltop area). Dr Su is very knowledgable and knows and understands the spine so much. He is Board Certified and I felt comfortable for him to operate on my spine. He also is very tall! The best decision I could have made for myself was to say yes to a back fusion surgery with Dr Su at UCSF Marin Health Institute. He has an assistant whom helped me get insurance approval for everything before we started since he accepts most insurance companies. The hospital stay at Marin was very nice because of the staff and nice nurses who cared for me. Dr Su checked on my recovery every morning while staying at the hospital he made sure he had a way to connect with me directly to check on me as his patient which I thought was very nice. He has a great team who works with him his assistants Bruno and Dr Connor Brown (Spine Surgeon) whom helped with before and after check ups are great so thank you. My family was very supportive and helped me to get through it. The first week was the hardest but it got easier every day after so patience and resting is key to recovery. I am 7 week post surgery now and I feel great. Pain is completely gone no more pinched nerve and I'm back to driving and enjoying life without worrying about how much I need to walk. Dr Su, you changed my life to the best so thank you. I highly recommend you to anyone who needs help with their back pain or spine needs like a back fusion. A+ surgery. A+ care team Pleasure to have you as my surgeon. Thank you so much. God bless you and your team.

Thank you Dr. Su, L3, L4,L5 fusion plus other fixes!! Living my best life completely pain free!!

Dr. Brian Su was recommended to me by my mother. She had a complicated spinal fusion operation performed by him about ten years ago. I had awful constant sciatica pain radiating down my right leg. Dr. Su diagnosed me after an MRI scan. I needed a Microdiscectomy. He explained in layman's terms that the donut shaped padding between my disks had ruptured and the fluid was leaking. He laid out two options. One, I get cortisone shots to ease the pain and the other option was surgery. He said it was an hour long procedure. I didn't want to drag out my back problem. Dr. Su recommended I watch a You Tube video of his surgery for Microdiscectomy. Two weeks later I had the surgery done at Dr. Su's amazing Surgery Center in San Rafael. The place sits on the top of the hill above Northgate Mall. This building has sweeping views and the Surgery Center inside was gorgeous. Parking is a breeze out front and after your surgery, you are picked up below in the parking garage with an attendant that takes you there via elevator. The staff at the surgery center was top notch and everything went smoothly. After the surgery I only needed pain pills for three days. I really felt Dr. Su was delicate and precise with my procedure. Three months later, I am as good as new. I have absolutely no pain and have no hindrance in my mobility. Dr. Su's Assistant Chris O'Connell was very helpful and worth his weight in gold. The entire team working with Dr. Su is the best of the best. If I had to do the surgery again, I would in a heartbeat!

The problem was presented with symptoms of weakness, visually apparent imbalance, instability, and a deep incision at where the ECRL was cut. Hillary misdiagnosed this injury as a torn TFCC. That misdiagnosis meant that my injury would go untreated. It's been seven years and now, a more skilled and observant doctor quickly diagnosed the problem, ordered an MRI which confirmed his suspicion. Now that the doctor has pointed it out to me, it seems quite obvious to me. This new doctor, however, does not want to repair the problem due to the age of the injury. He thinks it's too old. It should have been fixed years ago. I'm looking for a doctor who can fix it. I'm willing to do what it takes to recover from the surgery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJKsnWwMIp8

After breaking my wrist and having to undergo surgery, she guided me through this difficult time with kindness, empathy and support. She was always there when I needed her and kept me informed and optimistic when I was afraid. Her expert surgery skills are beyond reproach. My wrist is now fully functional and the scar is barely noticeable. Her assistant, Emily, was the most helpful regarding disability and work related issues. She was very patient and kind throughout dealing with all of the forms she was asked to fill out. And to top it all off, her onsite hand therapist, Yaffa Meiner, is the BEST! She worked with me for 6 weeks making sure my wrist, hand and arm would be functioning as well as before. She supported me through many teary and worried moments and always made me feel supported. She was the kindest and most positive therapist, who made me believe in my abilities as we worked through the challenges. I am forever grateful for Dr. Redlin, Emily and Yaffa for taking such wonderful care of me.
