We purchased our home and were searching for a contractor to review items that were addressed in our home inspection. I reached out to a local designer for recommendations and she recommended Mat. He said he was unavailable to help with the items on our list but gave recommendations of businesses who could help, such as Miller Glass. No problem... the trouble started six months later. We reached out to him in January of 2025 asking if he had time to help us build a wall in our entryway sometime that year. He said yes, came over to look at our space, and charged us $100. Since then, he has done barely anything and it is now August of 2026. He has had a couple of conversations with us, said he would come back over for final measurements but never did, sent us a couple of AI rendered photos, claimed he was discussing with his door supplier, changed his business email without telling us so we had to dig for it months later after he disappeared (which he does for months at a time). He quoted $10,000 and said it could go up to $15,000. We told him we budgeted $15,000 but to let us know if the costs would be higher... we weren't fighting him on costs. We were kind and incredibly patient. We were hoping to find someone who could ultimately help us with renovating a kitchen and two bathrooms. We were willing to wait for a quality contractor, but I am appalled at the poor service we have received. Stringing us along for over a year and a half is unacceptable and unprofessional. If he hadn't been recommended by the designer, I would think he was scamming people with fake consults. I'd look elsewhere if you value your time. I feel like a bit of a fool for wasting so much of mine.

But KP Design did and said they'd come out for a free estimate. My previous licensed contractor experienced pro gave me the high bid. When Keith came, he asked how I wanted to do this - just the basic repairs or full remodel. I'm low-income as many seniors are, living on just our Social Security after working our whole lives. I told him just the basics. Then he asked if he could poke a hole in the floor - by my dishwasher and under my sink. No one else asked that. So, he found the problem, fixed the leak, and put in a plywood temp floor, while informing me this really was an insurance claim. And it was. The insurance company delayed sending out an adjuster because of Hurricane Maria on the east coast. Keith called me every couple of days to check in, and worked with the insurance company's demands. Then, even through our own climate crisis Camp Fire, he stayed in touch. When the insurance money finally came, even having to evacuate a couple of times, K&P did the work I wanted and nothing I didn't, and did a fast super detailed great job. I haven't written a review like this before, but this exceptional service and quality and kindness compelled me to write this one. All the folks who work at KP Design and Construction are all really polite and kind and work professionally and clean up behind themselves. I am recommending them to all my friends and tell everybody who asks. KP turned my nightmare leak into a happy ending. I trust KP and will hire them again whenever I need repairs or remodels. 5 star service at KP!

Phil was very polite and respectful while doing the work. At first, we were very pleased with the work, which was done in June of 2021. However, after about 5 months or so, the floating vinyl flooring started to come up in places in the kitchen. We reached out, as we were surprised that it was coming up already, after only a few months of being installed. We were told at first that most likely our house foundation had shifted, which would cause the floor to come up. Keep in mind, we are on a concrete slab, and the same exact flooring that was put in by the front door and in the bathroom was not coming up. We were then told that it was most likely because there is a sliding glass door in the kitchen, which could cause the floor to come up. This also did not sit well with us, as I have known plenty of people that had floors installed in an area with a sliding glass door, and the floor didn't start coming up 5 months later. Additionally, at no point was this communicated to us while picking out the floor, install, or upon payment. After we didn't except this answers, Keith agreed to send someone out to look at the floor. But he sent the guy who originally installed the floors.. So, the guy who messed up the floors originally is supposed to fix them now? No surprise, he glued it down which laster about 48 hours. Maybe. Additionally, there was absolutely no follow up to see if the problem had been fixed. Not to mention there are gaps in the floor and wall in spots where the floor guy did not measure correctly, I have the pics below. Overall super unhappy that I paid 21 thousand dollars and ill have to get my kitchen floor replaced relatively soon. There seems to be no guarantee of work from this company, and Keith just didn't really seem to care to make things right with the family that wrote him a 21 thousand dollar check. It is what it is, but I will not be having them redo my closets as I had planned, and I can never suggest them as an option to anyone I know. It may seem harsh, but that is how I feel. I guess I just expected better customer service from a local company.

Eric the contractor did a fabulous job installing the shade on our log porch. Shelly took us to see a shade that was installed on another customers home, I really appreciated that. I purchased the sun/wind sensor which ended up being a total pain in the butt. Too many trees blowing in the wind and shade moving around throughout the day for that to work correctly. I would have appreciated Shelly's expertise in that area due to the high cost of the sensor. When I asked to return it I was only given less then half the full value back. One last thing, it would have been nice for Shelly to call me a few days after the shade was installed to make sure I was happy. Never heard from her again after the initial sale until I needed to call her regarding the sensor. But I really do love the big beautiful shade!
