Brian Moss has been my therapist for more than 30 years. His professional expertise, his wisdom, his kindness, and his generosity have literally saved my life. Anyone who has experienced severe childhood trauma knows full well how the cycles of memory result in re-traumatizing experiences, emotional and psychological vulnerability, and severe distress. I consider myself extremely lucky to have found Brian Moss and to work with him. I have been his client for about 15 years, and with his help, I have healed tremendously from severe childhood trauma. My life is in a drastically healthier place, as I no longer constantly function from a wounded place, but a healed, stronger place instead. Among other things, I am now enjoying being in a healthy, loving relationship, which would not have been possible without Brian's help. From the start, Brian let me lead therapy. During our first appointment, he even made me talk first! He just sat there patiently. My experiences unfolded slowly at my own pace and timing, and I could always stop and go in other directions when I wanted - even if it slowed my progress. He also taught me strategies to process past experiences without getting caught up in re-living them and re-traumatizing myself. I really appreciate that I feel safe and empowered to speak my mind and bring up anything that doesn't make sense or isn't working for me (which rarely happens, but is important to address when it does). This has led to a better understanding of effective therapy, and has given me more confidence and courage to have healthy conversations about issues that might be challenging for me with others. When I started seeing Brian for therapy, I had already shut certain family members out of my life as a necessity for survival. It especially pained me to not talk to my mother, and Brian helped me reconnect with her in a healthy way, after not speaking to her in ten years. I think it filled a big hole in each of our hearts. Over time, I became quite close to her and am so grateful for that healing for the both of us. I am especially thankful for his help with this, as she recently passed away. I have healthier relationships with many of my other family members as well, due to working with Brian. Stylistically, Brian reminds me of a wise elder. I've been a client of Brian's for 4 years, during which I have worked through my very difficult childhood from which I thought I'd never recover. While no one ever forgets their trauma, finding answers is difficult. The work I have done with Brian has changed my life. I had seen other therapists who didn't take my situation seriously, tried to inject their religious beliefs into therapy, or didn't see "what the big deal was" with my suffering. Brian listens asks intelligent questions, challenges me to look at myself, and has validated my feelings but he has never belittled me or treated me with anything but respect. Furthermore he would never, ever try to make a suggestion as to what I remember, as the sad, one-star reviewer below claims. The person who wrote it appears to be very angry and is attempting to defame and slander a good therapist whose work is nothing short of impeccable. It has taken incredible courage for me to write this much intimate detail. But if it prevents even one person from having a similar experience it is worth my transparency and risk of ridicule. I saw Brian Moss for a year from October 2013 thru September 2014. I came to his office and his care vulnerable, disassociative and traumatized. For reference, I had self committed to a psyche ward in July of 2013. From the first visit Mr Moss emphatically stated that DID cannot come from family childhood trauma and is exclusively produced by deliberate manipulation and that I had a been victim of ritual child abuse. According to Brian there is a far reaching CIA conspiracy and as a child special doctors had programed me to be a sex kitten for a child porn ring, a military operative, and a military psychic. Every memory I had became suspect.He emphatically stated that the seizures I was having were from childhood repressed memories of the electro shock that the CIA doctors inflicted upon me for mind control. I have since been diagnosed with a Functional Neurologic Disorder. He led me to believe That my whole family was in on it because of course someone had to take me to these CIA 'doctors'. . He asserted that I had 9 personalities, all deliberately manufactured by 'doctors'. He made up an elaborate color coded system for my 'parts'. Instead of trying to stabilize me he jumped immediately into the repressed memory baloney. I was completely unstable when I contacted him, already experiencing hallucinations so it was not difficult to have my mind manipulated. He told me it is a worldwide conspiracy and only he and a few of his colleagues could help me. He stated the methods of Nazi doctors the US employed after WWII were used to explore this mass mind control. I have 100s of pages of artwork depicting horrific trauma scenes. None of them happened to me. When after nine months of twice weekly, cash only sessions I was so destabilized, isolated, ashamed. I actually questioned his methods, that maybe these 'memories' that only showed up after meeting him were merely symbolic; he told me "you questioning me just proves how deep the CIA mind control over you is" Brian was never overbearing or aggressive in his manner. He has a very gentle way about him. These were soft spoken deliberate suggestions while I was in an impaired consciousness state, i.e the Nuerological Disorder. I was always in a highly disassociated state when the the trauma scene images appeared, fragmented but attached to intense trauma and pain. DID lends itself to being highly suggestable. I came to his office with a neurologic disorder, a disassociative disorder, reality is transient to me, my identity is transient. I was easily isolated from all family, friends, and society as it is a worldwide conspiracy according to him. Also suggesting that the only sibling I was still speaking to was still under the mind control of the CIA and that she was trying to sabotage me. I have a complaint to the Medical board pending. It is important to point out that at no time did we deal with my actual memories of generational incest. At no point did he attempt to stabilize me, he started with 'memory recovery' from day one. The only mind control I have ever experienced was at the hands of Brian Moss. And I cannot express the shame associated with that. The absolute worse part is the trust he manipulated. I had gone to so many drs to find out why I was having seizures...no answer, no support. And here comes Mr Moss with a soft soothing voice and an answer to what was happening to me, it was incorrect of course but I was desperate. I needed help and he mind f#@cked me.
