It is amazing to discover that there is still so much to learn and I think it has motivated my daughter to practice more. My 8 yr old is taking lessons with Jaime, and she is very patient and explains why things have to be done a certain way, which my daughter really likes. It helps her better understand what the exercises want her to achieve. Jaime is also starting to teach her some advanced bow techniques, which make her feel so 'grownup'.

If there's a such thing as intrinsic musical talent, I have none whatsoever, but Joe believes that anyone can learn to play music. When I started, I literally didn't even know how to hold the guitar properly, but over the past year Joe has helped me make a ton of progress. He's great at explaining both the theoretical aspects of music, and the practical aspects of guitar playing, such as what finger placement to use when playing difficult riffs. I've still got a long way to go with my guitar playing, but I'm certain that I wouldn't have gotten nearly as far as I have without Joe's instruction.

The rental rates are very reasonable. They gave her a brand new violin. After a couple weeks the violin had to be tuned and we took it back to them. It was done in less than 5 mins, at no extra cost. The whole experience was effortless. Will surely rent from them again if need be!

Rescheduling lessons is a pain, though. For my son's instrument there is one and only one teacher who teaches 3 days of the week, and their flexibility when they've had no available make-up slots has varied. It was nightmarish a year ago, and better lately. My kids have been in lots of other classes/programs and rescheduling at Bach to Rock is just different. Also, when my son has been a little sick, well enough to play but didn't want to expose his teacher, they still charged us for the lesson... which is in line with their policies, but the other private teachers we've worked with have been kinder about illness especially when the key concern is protecting them.

His teacher then cancelled the next lesson. We turned up today and the teacher was 15 minutes late, told us the scheduler told him we had cancelled and then disappeared into the back to argue with the scheduler about it and never came back. My son has now missed 4 consectutive lessons. 2 of which we drove him to and had them cancelled after we arrived. Really spirit crushing for a kid who's just getting into an instrument. He's been paractising the same 5 notes at home for a month now. We're going to cancel and take him somewhere serious. Total time wasters here.
