I was the executor for my a very close family member. He had 50+ years of treasures and antiques in his home that I did not know what to do with. Donna and her team were excellent to work with. After I removed all items that were personal to me, her team did an excellent job. They used a machine to rid the house of the cigarette smoke smell, rented a bin and removed all the large furnishings that did not have street value, marketed the items in the house for sales and had a one day sale to move most of the items. I will point out that the items are priced fairly to sell. If you want to have full retail on all your home goods you should probably do it yourself. I didn't have the time to want to go through that massive headache. In my case, Donna's team had an realtor associated with the organization. Amanda was able to list the home and sell it at a fair price in a couple of days after the Estate sale. (The new home purchaser even agreed to take ownership of the remaining items in the house). I had an estate sale with Brian and his team and was blown away at how knowledgeable and efficient this company is! I was completely overwhelmed with doing the process myself and when the team came in they had a plan and executed it flawlessly. They have many years of experience and it shows. From the first meeting they where honest, and forthcoming about the value of the pieces I had (big and small / worth a lot or a little.) Everything was documented, photographed and presented in a clean, professional and orderly fashion. The catalog for online viewing blew my mind and brought all the right buyers for purchasing. And once the sale was complete everything I wanted gone was either sold or I donated to a worthy charity! The house was empty and they even had cleaners in to have it in pristine condition after the final pick up. I felt like I was in total control of the process, got good money for the cherished family heirlooms that I no longer wanted and the job was done fast. What to do what to do? Hold a yard sale? Spend the next year liquidating via Kijiji? Call Women In Need or Good Will to haul away what they can use? There will always be a pile left over or declined. I checked with an outfit that would send off the good stuff to an auction house and chuck the remainder into a roll-off dumpster. I'd net pennies on the dollar with all options. Maybe rent a storage unit and pay to hoard the stuff for an eternity. Every option had a heavy financial and stressful burden. Brian Lehman's estate sale services were pretty much an a la carte option. They said that I could minimize a portion of the sales staff costs by utilizing friends or family...or not. Decide if I wanted to save some by having my own peeps clean up...or not. They have many estate sales in any given month so I went to one and saw eager customers lining up for their chance to buy. Turns out I didn't have enough good stuff to have a sale. Brian was up front and honest with me. He has a lifetime of experience. Amazing business and people. The assistance that they provided when my grandparents were being moved into a nursing home was just what we needed. Before involving them our grandparents were very stressed about losing all of their memories, but we had to deal with so much stuff.
