I had put off finding a new dentist for quite some time. I met with an office member that couldn't have been nicer. As it can be embarrassing explaining this, she was companionate and stated there were a couple of hygienists who would be great for me. The day of my appointment I was nervous going to a new place and it had been so long but was okay because of the talk with the office staff. I went back with the hygienist who was friendly but it took a short amount of time for me to realize she knew nothing; she didn't know I hadn't been to the dentist in years, didn't know about childhood trauma, she had no idea I was nervous...... She was again friendly (smiling) but not a good fit for someone in my situation. She didn't explain things; yes a lot has changed over the years; I honestly sat confused how this appointment could have gone so wrong after being reassured when I made the appointment; a mistake had to have been made. I finally spoke up a couple of times asking questions especially when I was being taken to another room for an X-ray after having X-rays in the first room. I was clueless at what was going on and she wasn't explaining. When I got up from my chair I was sweating so bad you could see the outline of my body in the chair. I kept thinking when was it going to be over. Then another thing done I had never had done and didn't know what it was; I finally stopped her and asked her what this was. As she smiled, she would I'm sure be good for someone who goes to the dentist every 6 mo and knows the routine and doesn't need anything explained but in my situation, not a perfect fit. At that point I was thinking with the hygienist, I was never stepping foot in there again. But then I met Dr Hana; absolutely calming and compassionate. It was obvious he knew my situation. When I left, I left now torn about going back. I thought if I could just get a different hygienist I would be okay. Time lapsed past my 6 month appointment, I received emails, text messages and post cards to make an appointment. One day when I received a text message, I texted back about my experience. Stated I didn't know if I wanted to come back because of the hygienist but was thinking about coming back because the dentist was excellent. Attached is the response I received; then ghosted. I repeated that I didn't want to speak ill of the hygienist but not a good fit for anyone in my situation. I know for a fact as the employees are good, every employee excels in different areas. I was hoping since my initial office staff encounter was excellent and encounter with the doctor was excellent, a different hygienist would be a good resolution. I thought a mistake had been made. Instead it is stated they would reflect on what could have been done better? Not an attempt for a resolution? Not an offer of a different hygienist? Not I'm sorry, maybe she was unaware of my situation? Not, maybe there was a mixup with appointments and I received the wrong hygienist? I finally gave honest feedback hoping there would be an easy solution; a different hygienist. This puts more shame towards people that don't feel comfortable at a dentist. SO disappointed.....

He sat and discussed all the options to take care of my problems and made me feel confident with my decisions. He backs his work 100%. My teeth are in his hands, literally! But, after you enter wearing your mask, they give you gloves to wear. Each room has an air purifier with ultraviolet light. A standard cleaning involves a little bit extra work than before. You're first given a sealed container of mouthwash, since this will get rid of any bacteria on the surface before they begin. They stopped using a spit sink a long time ago, so they use suction to extract the mouthwash when you are done. Since it had been a while (too long!) since my last checkup, they also took X-rays, which are always more involved here than at other places. Instead of the standard 360 X-ray, they also do targeted X-rays of your teeth from various angles. Then, they did an inspection of the gumline around each tooth, and gave it a rating from 1 to 5. Three spots were checked on the front and three spots were checked on the back of each tooth. As you can imagine, the appointments take quite a long time. But, they're worth it. They find cavities as they are forming, so they can be monitored for future work. And the technology that they employ, plus the expertise of their people, means that they don't miss anything. And, everything is handled very professionally, and the people here are also very friendly. They are the gold standard for dentist offices.

As with most medical business in a medical office, it was a bit challenging to find. I called ahead and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful in directing me with landmarks and signage. (It's hard to find a building in 45mph, multi-lane traffic!) The dentist (or hygienist) assigned to me was friendly and answered all my nosy questions. I had mentioned it had been awhile, and that I hadn't flossed in a bit, because I ran out of my favorite floss and that it was expensive. (I know, I'm a terrible person!) Expecting fire and brimstone and a guilt trip that I am used to immediately brushing off, I was impressed by their professional manner. The dentist/hygienist was either tactful or telling the truth, and said my teeth were not as bad as I might have thought. The main dentist stopped by for a few thoughts and questions, also very pleasant. They answered my questions about Invisalign, and then thoughtfully sent a follow up letter thanking me for stopping by and providing a brochure of information for Invisalign. Teeth felt pretty good and clean after the efficient visit. Big like!
