I have a narrowed spinal cord that disappears in places. I also have compressed discs slip discs discs that are hardly there. Basically a hot mess. Dr. Jackson is an architect who came up with a plan to save me from a wheelchair and paralysis. I have heard from my doctors that he is the doctor's doctor. My experience with him so far has been excellent. His surgery coordinator Wida is absolutely wonderful and gets the business of getting you surgery done. She is on point. The spinal class that I took were very informative. They were able to get me into surgery pretty quick and my appointment is next week. I'll update the review after the surgery.

When I contacted his office, I was repeatedly told that it would take time for the pain to improve. However, the pain continued. I later consulted eight other orthopedic surgeons and showed them my MRI and CT scans from before and after the surgery. Every one of them told me that, in their opinion, the surgery had been poorly performed. I continue to live with significant pain and require injections every few months to manage it. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend being very careful when choosing a surgeon and seeking more than one opinion before undergoing back surgery.

He scheduled a contrast MRI for her just for her to get a call the night before saying that specific place doesn't even do contrast. He put her on three different medications and she almost passed out on them. I told her to stop them right away. She called the doctor but no answer. She called multiple times after and still no answer or help. My mom is 63 and is in so much pain and she is having to make endless calls to get help. Its exhausting. This doctor is awful. They finally scheduled her a new MRI a week later just to cancel again. She's absolutely drained and wants help but she cant even get these people to listen to her. A week later the doctor finally said "get off these medications immediately "...like okay thanks for letting her know a week later. Absolutely ridiculous. I work in healthcare and this is just absurd to see. Its not that hard to call a patient or send a message in a day.

He diagnosed her with Parkinson's and has been treating her for several years. I always had a feeling that this was not the correct diagnosis. He had her on so many meds. I continued to voice my concerns, letting him know that I feel like there is something else going on. My first interaction with Dr. Martinez was in the waiting room. He was walking by as my mom as she was trying to walk with her walker. He shouted at the top of his lungs, "that is not a back problem, that is a brain problem" It was so unprofessional and embarrassing. He is extremely loud, obnoxious, and very unprofessional. This should've been my warning. My mom got progressively worse so I decided to take her to UCI where we saw two different neurologist that were also professors. Both doctors agreed that she definitely does not have Parkinson's that there is something completely different going on. I trusted Dr. Martinez. When I would voice my concerns, he would blow me off. I could never get a hold of anyone in the office. I would on occasionally receive a call back from Vanessa, PA, who was always incredibly rude and arrogant, and looked down upon us. I repeatedly told her that my mom had symptoms that were not related to Parkinson's. Her only solution was constantly telling me to give her more and more Parkinson's meds. The neurologists at UCI have been absolutely incredible. I finally found her a proper diagnosis and treatment with professional doctors. I wish would've done this sooner. As I said in the beginning, stay away from this doctor.

He and his staff were incredible!!…read more I went to speak with him concerning sciatic nerve pain that after receiving 2 Cortizone shots ( from a pain specialist) to my lower spine area did almost NOTHING to improve my pain. all it took was one visit to Dr Brian Hwang's office for him to tell me the truth about what was necessary to remove this excruciating pain. I went to see Dr Brian on June 26 in the afternoon. That same day he and his staff put together a surgery date for me that was less than a week out! he told me that I did the right way by first going with the Cortizone shots (89% success) rate that weren't working. Upon seeing me in my ground zero level 10 Pain , his actions were swift in getting me an appointment for surgery six days later!! Now I am completely pain-free and I'm so happy for his professionalism and diligence in getting me that appointment as quick as he did. Kudos to Carla his receptionist for getting me the date so QUICKLY . I currently live in the state of Utah and came all the way back to Southern California just so I could have the surgery performed by Dr. HWANG. just wanted to give a big shout out to Dr Hwang and his staff for moving mountains for me!! Dr. Choan is actually very nice, but let's be honest: I don't go to a neurologist to talk to a nice lady. I came here seeking professional help. She's late. She's always late, and I'm talking about a 40-minute to an hour wait time. Once again, after another follow-up visit, after waiting for 40 minutes, I just got up and left, refusing to pay the fee for not showing up to an appointment. Because she's late, dr Choan rushes through her current appointments ... because she is already late to the next one, and patients don't get enough attention. Judging by my own experience, I did not get the answers or the treatment that I came here for for. Her billing staff made a ton of errors too. I did not get any billing statements from the office directly. I got the bill straight from a collection agency instead, a few months later. After trying to find out what was going on, and after multiple promises that someone would call me back, of course no one ever did. After spending almost a month trying to figure it out, I eventually gave up, said "F it," and paid a couple hundred dollars to the collection agency just to avoid penalties to my credit because of this office's incompetency.
