We went to a different dentist for a second opinion. And it turns out there was only 3 cavities in her mouth. Bright star dental was ready to rip 2 teeth out of her mouth for absolutely no reason as well as drill into a tooth for a root canal that she did not need. This place is money hungry and will say whatever they need to say to get as much as possible. Also, they quoted us a little over 13,000 dollars for this. The second dentist quoted us 2,000 for the stuff she ACTUALLY needed help with.BRIGHT STAR DENTAL, how fucking dare you put someone I love in danger for absolutely no fucking reason. Dr Gilbert is an artist and a saint. I wanted to cry and hug him at the same time. A crown was terrifying for me but he and his team were patient and answered all of my questions, kept me laughing, kept me so numb that I was numb until I fell asleep and the final product is so beautiful you would never know I even had dental work done. Dr. Gilbert replaced a crown for no apparent reason. Then that tooth got infected, so I had to have a root canal. They wanted $1,667, I paid $1,667. A month later they sent me a bill for an extra 60. See how they did not advise me of this? I never did find out what this new $60 charge was for. I paid it and told them I would not be back. I am up dating my review and keeping this as a 1 star review. The reason for my update is because of the dentist response. You cannot write a response as if the customer did not understand or attempt to resolve the issue at the time of the problem without expecting an update to correct it.... To insinuate that other options are or were available is disingenuous. I want anyone reading my review to understand that I did ask for the office manager to assist us with any other options available to resolve what I felt was a tremendously stupid billing option for setting an up comming appointment. Remember, we are talking about an upcoming appointment. Not a billing issue for services already rendered. This was about how they wanted to bill for an upcoming appointment set weeks away. In talking to the office manager I was given three (3) options for setting a new appointment... These are the options to resolving my complaint as they were explained to me by the dentist's office manager...... 1) allow her to keep my credit card #, exp. date, and security code from the back of my card on digital file. 2) Pay for the upcoming appointment weeks in advance. 3) Go somewhere else..... So to say anything similar to the response below, is nothing more than an attempt to save face from a bad review.... Original review is as follows....... What does it say about a business who will let a happy customer walk out the door, intent on not returning because your office policy? Is the art of customer service dead completely? However, now the bad part... two of my daughters need to come back for further work. although with our insurance the amount to be charged is rather minimal, the office wants to keep your credit card information on digital file. I said I didn't feel comfortable with my financial information in their computers just waiting to be hacked... so they said I could pay for services before they are rendered... these are my only options? Why I ask.... the answer? In Case we don't show for our appointment, they can charge us anyway.... so... I have options... I must concur with Laurie S. I'm not understanding the one-star poor ratings from others. I've been to Dr. Gilbert three times; a cleaning, a minor emergency and a major dental treatment. All three visits were super! Dr. Gilbert and his team were "dialed in" during every procedure. All technical task work was methodical and highly skilled. You knew exactly what dental procedure was being performed and were continuously informed every step of the way. Dr. Gilbert and his staff are second to none! read more

I don't understand. When you have an emergency and need to see the doctor immediately, Dr. Gilbert says you have to book an appointment. Yet, he always talks about how his patients are his priority. Hmmmm.... is that so? Then instead of going home early, or closing at 12 on Fridays you should probably see your emergency patients. OR when you leave town all the time, maybe bring in an assistant doctor that can stay around when you're gone for patients who need to be seen ASAP. For the amount of money you have to give this place it's not worth it. When you go to hospital ER do you have to make an appointment to come back another day? NO. When a patient is in serious pain and begs on the phone to be seen ASAP. Instead of saying ummm... hmmm... oooo... JUST STAY A LITTLE LONGER AFTER CLOSING AND HELP YOUR PATIENT. First I have to say that Dr Gilbert is one of the friendliest people I have ever met. In addition to that he makes treatment painless and easy. My complaint is going to be about the prices and payment plans. I do know that the cost is mainly regulated by the insurance companies etc however the payment plans are at the discretion of the provider. I am a mother of 5 children and over the years have put them first! Now I have reached a time that I would like to have some more extensive but necessary work done so I called Bright Star. I spoke with Pam who only quoted me for half of what I asked for and when I expressed my concern with the remaining balance she gave me a quote for payments of nearly $400 a month for 3 months. When I told her that I could not afford that she said that was the only option and I then I said then I needed to cancel my appointment then she said "Ok, I've cancelled the appointment". She was completely lacking empathy for the situation and there was no attempt to work something out with me. I have chosen after this to go elsewhere. I was also there with my child during an extraction one time and heard from the room next to us that a gentleman was wanting full reconstruction. He was again talked to by a finance representative who gave him an outrageous quote in the $20000 + range. Although this sounded appropriate for the amount of work he needed done again he was only offered the 3 months to pay the total. That would be over $6000 a month! What I am saying is this is in the hands of the provider and sadly they will begin losing patients like myself and my family that would remain patients for years so come over the inability to accommodate extended payment plans. As, I have said Dr Gilbert is incredible but it would be nice if more flexible, longer term payment plans were available to help out the average family. I felt it was necessary to write this review to prevent the average family like mine with these types of needs from establishing care and then having to re-establish elsewhere. read more

My family has been going to Bright Star Dental for over ten years, and I am aghast at the five one-star reviews here. NONE of them match my experience in any way, it's as though these people are talking about another practice entirely! Dr. Gilbert saved my teeth, pointed out issues I had (such as vertical cracks which would eventually cause loss of the teeth unless corrected), issues which my previous dentist had ignored. Yes, good dental work is costly, but saving your teeth is worth the expense. His office set up a Care Credit account for me so I could pay for the work over a long period of time with no interest. His work is guaranteed; if a crown (for example) fails within five years he will replace it, as long as you have given it proper care. He, his office personnel, and other staff members have always been welcoming, respectful, and efficient. I would especially recommend him to people who are phobic about dental visits, as I used to be. Bright Star does everything in its power to set patients at ease and keep mouths healthy and I highly recommend them. read more

I changed my rating from a one star to a 4 star due to the fact that Dr Gilbert himself went out of his way to make the situation right. The original review: I had made arrangements with Angela to pay my bill on the 12th of every month, due to my pay schedule. I also requested that I be notified when they were going to charge my card. So today I log into my bank account and see they had charged my card leaving my account in a literal caos, and they didn't call me!!! Working in the healthcare field it's not hard to document something for when something should be done, and if a patient requests for you to call them when you take a payment out, you need to call them. I have a health savings account that I was paying with which I told them about every SINGLE TIME I called in to make a payment, besides my card that is on file so this is a huge mess for me right now! I am so upset I will not return to this office because of the person who did not follow my requests. The dentist is great but this ruined it for me!!! If you would have called I would have told you I am paying this Friday (tomorrow)! Now I have to go through the trouble to transfer money from my HSA to my bank account so I can pay my utility bills what a mess. FRAUD.This dentist office lied to me and tricked me. The first time I came in and got a cleaning, they told me I needed to schedule another appointment soon because I needed a more intensive cleaning. Naturally, I followed up shortly after my first appointment and scheduled a SECOND CLEANING. When I came in, they instead gave me an X-ray and tried to talk me into all kinds of cosmetic procedures for my teeth. They did not clean a single tooth. They have since billed me twice for that visit. When I called and explained my situation, they said "I could have stopped the visit at any time and asked for a cleaning". I had no idea what was going on and I feel like I have truly been taken advantage of at this office. I am calling my insurance to let them know that this is a fraudulent office and they should take them off their service. read more

I have been going to Bright Star Dental since after the first year they opened--for more than 25 years! For some reason, I have just had a lot of very complex and difficult tooth issues. My husband was military, so we moved all over the country. So I have been to A LOT of dentists in A LOT of cities. I think by now, I have had 13 to 15 root canals. 11 teeth pulled. A bridge. Braces. And now, two dental implants. My latest adventure involved a front upper tooth whose root fractured, meaning I had no choice, but to have it pulled. So, for me, an implant was the only option I would consider, and Dr. Gilbert, the only dentist I would consider for doing the tooth replacement. Dental implants are becoming more and more common these days, but these are something that have to be done just-right. And the final look, particularly for a front, upper tooth, needs to be completed by someone who has expertise in cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Gilbert certainly has this expertise and experience. As long as I have been going to him, he continues to further his dental education by taking --and now teaching -- courses, all over the country on cosmetic dentistry. He is the BEST. Moreover, what I really love about his practice he that he devotes 100% effort into patient comfort and care. He doesn't skimp on anything that may make the experience more comfortable for his patients and provide optimal outcomes. I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Bright Star Dental!!! Now, I have read reviews complaining that Bright Star Dental is expensive, and I am unable to address that since I don't shop around. As Benjamin Franklin said, "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten." I'm not willing to save a few dollars -- or even a few hundred dollars -- on lesser quality work. Dr. Gilbert and his staff are worth the costs. They also offer a wonderful program called, "Care Credit," that allowed me to make payments over 24 months (that's two years!) with ZERO interest. I had been to this dentist 2-3 yrs ago with an painful tooth they said needed a root canal. I paid cash for this procedure. A few months later I began having pain again in same tooth, when I called them to ask about it they said I would probably need them to go back into that tooth & I would have to pay again. Meanwhile the wife of a local dentist said I should have seen an endodontist for a root canal so I went to one & they said the tooth was infected because bright star did not treat one root and left the insert in one root poking into my gums which was inflamed. I had to have oral surgery to correct the poor work done at bright star which cost me over $1000 more. Bright star does not stand by their work . They should have offered to correct their mistake without charge. I will not go here again. Also if you want your root canal done correctly, see an endodontist, they are better qualified to do that kind of work than a regular dentist. read more

If you go to this doctor and are told that you will need extensive dental work, my suggestion to you is to obtain a second opinion. I was told that I had cavities, a couple chipped teeth that needed immediate repair (the chips are tiny and unnoticeable) amongst other things and the work would cost over $500 after insurance. I didn't have the money to spend at that time, so I decided to wait till my next six month check up and at that time the price had increased to over $600 almost $700 even though the work I "needed" stayed the same. I wasn't convinced that I needed the dental work as I've always had very healthy teeth. I've only had a couple of cavities in all my 38 years. So I got a second opinion and was told after x-rays and exam that I do not have any cavities and that I do not need any dental work. I left my new dentist's office without having paid a dime out of pocket. read more
