I moved from Southern California a few months ago and didn't even read any reviews on the doctors recommended by MARIN health. He literally spared me from the horrors of menopause and the pain of an office procedure by simply doing a day /outpatient procedure, that also allowed him to more thoroughly explore and rule out possible serious issues. i started seeing Dr. DeMuth at my 7 month - when i moved to Marin County and decided i wanted to birth at MGH. he was recommeneded by a friend and he's great! he has a sense of humor, is kind & gentle and was supportive of my desire to birth naturally. when my baby was a week past my due date - he wanted to try inducing - though i wanted to avoid pitocin...so we came to a middle date agreement (i had not dilated at all). turned out, i went into labor the night before our appt! perhaps the baby was too large for my small frame - because after 8 hours of extreme-intense-labor - he had to perform a c-section. he was great about explaining why and exactly what would happen - esp when he knew i really wanted to avoid a c-section!! our son was born happy & healthy - and my insicion is barely noticable already (it's been 11 days)! i'm on the mend and i'm happy to have had Dr. De Muth bring our Oscar into the world. read more

I just adore dr. demuth! Dr. demuth is so good at what he does, and obviously just loves it. As I grew rounder and weirder he helped me understand what was happening and that everything is fine. He was so supportive off my little quirks and really helped us get though it. As the previous poster mentioned, he has a great sense of humor, but was serious when appropriate ( thankfully not often). I started seeing Dr. Brian Demuth when I was 16 years old and diagnosed positive for HPV. I knew about Dr. Demuth because he sees a lot of the women in my family (mother, aunts, cousins, my sister) and he even delivered my little brother back in 1990. While going to the gynecologist is not reeaally looked forward too.. dr. Demuth is the best doctor I've seen and I felt more comfortable with him then I have a female doctor elsewhere. I don't dread/get nervous or anxious bc I know I'm in good hands. He's quick, personable, will take extra time if you need it (as any good Dr should but they don't) and is straightforward and honest. His assistant Marleigh who has been by his side since.. forever, is the best too! Those two are a package deal and make you feel like family. When Dr Demuth retires.. I will be devastated but happy to have had him as my dr for so long - almost 20 years! I'd like to add that when I was positive for HPV at 16, I had a colposcopy and then laser surgery.. all with Demuth. I've had normal paps ever since. read more

Dr. DeMuth has been my Ob/Gyn since 1997. I was referred to him by my sister-in-law, an RN, whose son Dr. DeMuth delivered in 1992. Dr. DeMuth is an excellent doctor, extremely caring - and a very nice man (and funny, too). When my primary care doctor's medical group dissolved and became part of Kaiser 10 yrs. ago, I chose to find another primary care physician rather than go to Kaiser and give up Dr. DeMuth. I am old enough to have had a few Ob/Gyn MDs in my life. While the others were quite capable, Dr. DeMuth is by far the best. read more

Dr. DeMuth saved my life! I had been to several other doctors who told me I was fine. I was bleeding so much that when I finally received treatment I needed 4 pints of blood and had been passing out. He does listen and is supportive. He never made me feel like I shouldn't call the office and didn't brush me off like other doctor's did. His staff is great and follows up. All very personable. Fantastic experience...Dr. Demuth subbed in as baby catcher for our usual Dr. Galland when baby decided to pop out early and over the weekend. While our experience is strictly from baby delivery, we ended up being the only traditional delivery of the weekend. Any questions or concerns were answered in great detail. Dr. DeMuth has been my ob/gyn for 22 years. He delivered both my children and has guided me through the weirdness of menopause with sound, practical care and advice (as well as with much desired good humor). A couple of years ago he caught a potential thyroid problem that had developed in only a couple of months time from when my internist had given me a full physical. I had just moved to Marin from Seattle, when a bout with kidney stones revealed a significant endometrial mass. Being new to the area, I relied on my PCP for a few referrals then checked them all out prior to selecting Dr. DeMuth. I read all of the Yelp reviews, other reviews, and figured Dr. DeMuth would be good, but that he could not possibly be as exceptional as all of the reviewers noted. I was wrong, and they were right. Caring, great listener, thorough, patient...all of this and more. Skillfully uses humor when appropriate. Answers every question, multiple times if needed. Due to many moves, I've had at least 10 different OB/GYNs; Dr. DeMuth is finest amongst a group of very good doctors. My husband and I just had our first baby (after one miscarriage) with the help of Dr. Demuth. He was very patient while I was pregnant and answered all of my questions. I had a long labor and Dr. Demuth came in to the hospital (even though he was not working that day) to perform the C section that I needed to have. Dr. Demuth is absolutely amazing. I have been experiencing so much pain during the beginning of my cycle that I was actually missing out on work and life at least 3 days a month. One visit with Dr. Demuth and I was back on my feet and in to my regular routine within 8 hours under his treatment/guidance. We've had a wonderful experience with the team at Prima OB/GYN, but Dr. DeMuth really stood out as the right fit for us from the very first ultrasound for our baby girl. Both hubby and I appreciate his sense of humor, positive and gentle approach, extreme patience with my many "is this normal" questions, and openness to discussing different perspectives on birthing and helping to alleviate my fears. I felt compelled to write a review of this kind man and wonderful doctor. I have been a patient of Dr. Demuth's for 8 years. He delivered my twins and I honestly can't imagine what that experience would have been like with out his experience, gentle funny manner, and clear competence . I was an extremely overweight 37 year old woman....very anxious and self-conscious....carrying twins. This could have been a very emotionally painful and embarrassing time for me. He was always respectful, compassionate, and was adept at delivering the information I needed to know in an honest and direct and caring way. My kids were breech and I had a c-section, which was also the first surgery I had every had in my life. He was attentive, listened to my concerns, talked me through my fears and delivered my kids seamlessly and without incident. He has a wonderful sense of humor, a light approach when he can and is serious when he needs to be. I feel truly blessed that he is my doctor and have and will always feel confident under his care. I have never written a bad review about anyone or anything, as I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. However, I feel so strongly about warning women against Doctor DeMuth, that I am breaking my rule. People show thier true colors in tough situations...Dr. DeMuth's true colors are ones that you do not want to see in a person, let alone your doctor. First, he performed an aggressive DNC, which caused Asherman's syndrome. DO NOT have him perform your DNC - there are plenty of good doctor's in the area - he's not worth the risk. I would not be writing this review, if it ended with he gave me Asherman's sydrome, but did everything he could to amend the situation. The sad fact is that he did NOTHING to ammend the situation, and when I needed him most, he completely disappeared. First, he did not have the courage to tell me to my face that his surgery resulted in Asherman's. He had another doctor tell me, 2 months after he suspected it. (Please note, I am over 38, and time is the essence to get pregnant). After I contact him, he puts together a plan to fix his mistake -- a plan that gives me hope again. I assume that we are moving down the path, and out of the blue, I get an EMAIL from him that says he wants to wash his hands from the whole experience. Please note, he was my doctor for two years, and he drops me via an email. Trying to get pregnant over 35 has too much drama and too many risks. You don't need a doctor who creates it, nor one who does not know how to communicate live with you and avoids issues through perscriptions. You need a doctor who is there to genuinely help you. Dr. DeMuth is not sensitive to the ups and downs of the process and will treat you with no respect . If you are over 35, please don't waste your time with him - he doesn't know how to treat a person. Your window is too limited to take the chance. Trust someone who just wasted two years trying to get pregnant and was left with Asherman's and a doctor who skipped out via EMAIL, as a result of trying to give Doctor DeMuth the benefit of the doubt. read more
