It is important to follow all health guidelines during this time. Remember our first visit was on June 25th and at that time the following directive was in effect in Orange County Florida where your office is located. It makes no exception for social distancing but is very explicit in who is to wear masks. Under Demings' order, "every person working, living, visiting or doing business in Orange County," will be required to wear face coverings consistent with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, while in any public space. On April 9, 2021, I called his office [in my network] to get an appointment. They told me the appointment would be Tuesday, April 13, 2020. I talked with the office person, who took my insurance information, and everything seemed fine. I went to check in and I was nowhere in the system. They checked my phone number and nothing. The Doc here appears to know what he is doing. I wouldnt know as he was in and out of the exam room too quickly to ask. The Male assistant that did the eye pressure test spent more time with me than the Doc did. When I informed him that I was referred there by another ophthalmologist and was informed by them that he was a neurologist. He stated that no one in his office could have told me that, which made me feel like he wasn't listening to what I was saying. The staff at the front counter is great and personable. However his assistants are snooty, non-personable and have no respect for privacy. On both my visits someone just barged into the room to look for something without knocking or even excusing themselves as they let themselves in as I was in the middle of talking. On my first visit no one bothered to inform me that my eyes would be dilated which caused me problems getting to work and at work that day following the visit. read more

Dr. Haas is talented and friendly. He performed a minor procedure on both of my eyes. You cannot tell I had ANY problems by looking at me now. They healed wonderfully. The procedure was uncomfortable, but the gentleman assisting him really helped distract me and calm me down. The receptionist/billing staff are friendly, but I can see how some might feel his assistants are 'snooty'. It didn't bother me at all. Dr Haas and the staff are friendly, but unless you live nearby, I'd keep looking for another office. The hours are quite limited (not open on the weekend at all), and their prices are very high. Granted, they pretty much carry high end stuff, so if you can afford it, go for it. Me? I prefer more reasonably priced frames and lenses. Dr. Haas has been caring for my vision for decades. He advised me to have cataract surgery 10 years ago, but I dragged my feet until a few weeks ago. All I can say is WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I should have done it years ago. The difference is like day and night. I can see 20/20 in both eyes, and no longer need glasses to drive (even at night)! I have been a patient for years at this office. I usually go for the yearly check up' I have dry eyes and need reading glasses. My recent check up showed my cataracts are worse. I waited over an hour at this appointment. Was asked to rerun a few days later for cataract measurement and dry eye test. On this second visit I waited over an hour again. My appointment was at noon and his assistant called me back an hour later. Then to tell me the person that does the dry eye test leaves at noon on a Friday. Poor scheduling and a waist of my time. Then was asked to make another appointment for dry eye test and to go over the surgery with Dr Haas. My appointment was scheduled for noon.I was called back at 12:30. I sat in the room 45 more minuets. I came to see the assistant and he never had my chart on the outside of the door. I was very upset. 3 visits and Dr Haas and staff just don't care that I was left in the room and I waited an Hour and a half and no one came in to see me. I was looking forward to the cataract surgery but feel I was treated terribly. Dr Haas owes me an apology. There isn't any patient respect and care. My time is just as valuable as his. I work a full time job and had to take my lunch hour to see him. Very inconsiderate!!!! read more

Worst pain I have ever experienced! I contracted with Dr Brian Haas for surgery to remove excess skin on both my upper and lower eyelids in December, 2018. During the procedure I became aware of my surroundings a number of times. I realized that there was something seriously wrong when I was able to feel the incision being made across my eyelid. Although it was painful, it was tolerable. However, the next thing I became aware of was my eyelid being stitched. I could feel the needle entering and leaving the lid and the tug of the suture. It was the worst pain I have ever felt - the sedation and local anesthetic were apparently not working properly. And I have a very high tolerance for pain. I immediately attempted to move my hand and could hear myself trying to scream. Later in recovery, I expected that Dr Haas would say something about the incident - but not a word. There was also no follow-up from him or his staff after the surgery. I had to call the office on my own to find out what the next steps were, when the stitches would be removed, etc. During that first follow-up, I expressed my extreme disappointment in the procedure itself, described the pain I endured, and asked why he never said anything about the problems. His response was, " You have good results - what does it matter?" He commented that I required more sedation/local anesthetic than most patients - as much as he was allowed to administer. And that he never expected I would remember anything. The possibility that any of this might happen was never discussed with me prior to surgery. Nor was I offered an option for anesthesia. I would never use Dr. Haas again for anything. His arrogance and cavalier attitude towards his own errors are appalling. And there is no excuse for the lack of follow-up from staff. read more

I wrote the following about a year ago right after my surgery, but decided not to post it until some time had gone by and my eyes settled into whatever they were going to be like. Maybe they'd be great. And I don't like to get people in trouble on the job, so I figured I'd cool down. Well, nothing has changed and so here is the review from January 2014 ... Dr. Haas seems to be well qualified and did a good job on my cataract surgery. That's why the relatively high rating. However, the laser surgery was a disappointment. I now need two separate pairs of glasses rather than one. I never know if I'll need glasses when I do something new and different. I absolutely blew a cello recital because I couldn't see the sheet music. My range of focus is extremely small. And, oh my. The scheduling/phone call people are complete boneheads. They call my work number when they know I'm home after surgery. They tell me to come in and pick up med samples and then they aren't around and don't leave a note for anyone else to give them to me. (I saw that happen to another patient too.) They neglect to call in prescriptions. They abruptly re-schedule surgeries with no respect for my schedule and the fact that everyone I know works and it's a pain to get someone to accompany me on surgery day. I can't just change my schedule at 4:45 the day before surgery (even if I HAD received the messages). Oh, and they also had originally scheduled my second surgery on Nov. 13, but informed me with no regret that no, it's now going to be Dec. 11. No 'We're so sorry about that' or anything. Nope. I was recommended to Dr. Haas by my husband who has been his patient for several years. I finally took the leap and made an appointment to see him for a routine eye exam. During my exam I discovered that I have dry eyes, which would explain the eye discomfort I was experiencing. I've been Dr. Haas's patient for at least two or three years now, but that will end soon. The reason behind me finding a new eye doctor is not really because of his care, but the lack of communication with staff. In August, I had an appointment at noon. I was left waiting in the holding area for an hour. There was no communication from staff that Dr. Haas or his assistant were runnning behind. There was no indication. After waiting for that hour, I took the initiative and went to the front desk to ask what the hold up was. I was told that their weren't any rooms available for me and it would be another 15 minutes before I was going to be seen. Meanwhile, during that hour I see lunch being carted to the back of the office. It may not have had anything to do with my appointment running behind schedule, but it didn't help their case either. I am a working woman who was on my lunch break for this appointment. My time was wasted, so I left. Before leaving I hastily rescheduled my appointment for the following week. I missed it. That was my fault, but talk about insult to injury when I get a $50 bill for being a no show.... You mean like how you were a no show for my appointment that I would have had to wait an hour and 15 minutes for? Wow This is my experience and may not be the experience of others, but I will be finding a new doctor. Communication is vital. I hope they learn that soon. read more

I've been treated by Dr Haas over the past two years, first for a dry eye condition, and most recently for cataracts. The results have been fantastic. I never realized the problems caused in my eyesight by the 'dry eye' condition --- but the outcome has been great - I've never had less eye strain and can see better than ever. Last month we did cataract surgery and had correcting lenses implanted --- once again perfect results, I can now see 20-20 without glasses. Love it! Dr. Brian Haas is not knowledgeable as you think he should be. One more disappointing thing, he is rude, he needs to practice good bedside manners all the times. I had procedures done on one of my eye and the very next day I noticed a problem and called the clinic. While talking to his assistant he grabs the phone from his assistant and asked me in a harsh voice "what do you want!" He admits that he doesn't know how to correct the operated eye and sent me to several specialists. Before he even knows what was wrong with the eye that he operated on, he seems very adamant to operate on the other eye. Even a non-medical person would see a "red-flag" = what if the problem on the operated eye will repeat itself on the other eye???? While I was dealing with this problem, I asked for my medical records and the staff would not release it while I was in their clinic and said there is a "process" and will take a week or two. This is another "red-flag"!!! I do not recommend anybody to go to Dr. Haas for anything that concerns your precious eyes. read more

Working with Dr Haas for the last ten years or so , We have been very fortunate to find such a skilled and caring surgeon , He has a great bedside manner in the surgery center and he is very good at what he does. You certainly feel special .. He has performed reconstructive plastice surgerty on my right orbit , (this from a prior surfing injury ) and also a eye brow lift as they were impeding my vision , as well as removing a cataract from my right and left eye and replacing with a custom Bausch and Lomb Lense. , Just a year ago , i had terrible vision , now its 20 /20 , , never been happier . His office and staff are welcoming and competent, HIs Assistant P.A. is very sharp . In May I was referred to Dr. Haas as I had cancerous mole under my right eye. He explained that I would need a right lid blepharoplasty and recommended that I also get radiesse underneath my eyes for a better appearance. He did an excellent job on the lid surgery, however the radiesse was terrible. When I debated about having the radiesse expressing that perhaps it is better to grow old gracefully his male assistant laughed, commenting that only "people who couldn't afford the services said that"....I found this very unprofessional. Then, when the Doctor came he they laughed about my hesitation, as well. The radiesse left visible "bumps under both eyes, with the left being more pronounced and black in blue. In my follow up visit I stated this and they both ignored the fact, stating that it looked fine and that my eyes were dark underneath to begin with. Doctor spent about 3 min with me. I was hoping that perhaps the swelling and bruising would dissipate, but in a way felt gang up on. during that visit ...and certainly not heard. Each and every time I looked in the mirror I was dissatisfied, but tried to let it go. I finally decided to return to see if there was something that could be done.....I waited over a month for my appt which was scheduled today at noon. I sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes and finally left. Great surgeon, terrible cosmetic /aesthetic skills. Most unhappy with the lack of professionalism and haughty attitude. read more

My daughter experienced an eye emergency while out of town on a weekend. She sought temporary medical care at an emergency clinic and then followed up with Dr. Haas early on Monday morning upon her return. He and his staff were very professional and were able to fit her in in a timely manner even though she didn't have an appointment. Her care was superb and she anticipates a full recovery. I have been Dr. Haas' patient for about 5 years and just had cataract and lens implant. I have already seen an improvement with this surgery and feel my eyesight will continue to improve. I certainly believe Dr. Haas is very qualified and knowledgeable in this field.
