My 10 year old son had an accident where he fell face first and injured his upper lip and front teeth. The dentist suggested to see an Endodontics and we went to see one in Medford. The place was very small and the Dr. did the cold test to my son's front teeth and quickly said that he needed root canals as there were no response. I had a mixed feelings about it so I did not take him back but rather talked to his dentist at the next scheduled cleaning. The dentist gave Reading Endodontics number and I scheduled an appointment for Jan 18, 2016. When we walked in....we felt like walking to a spa. What a nice ambiance! So relaxing and soothing. Classical music, framed photographs (Dr. Chuang is also a photographer), huge bathroom, nice livingroom, and state-of-the-art equipment. He was not in a rush and he tested my son's teeth multiple times. My son felt relax instead of nervous. Apparently the nerves on his front teeth are still alive, it's just that he is not sensitive to the cold. Dr. Chuang tested not only the 2 front teeth but also the ones adjacent to them and the reaction were all the same. The other Dr. only tested the 2 and jumped to conclusion quickly that his nerves are dead. Apparently NOT!! On May 13, 2016 we came back for a follow up. He saw something is different this time, tooth #9 has resorption. Dr. Chuang did xray multiple times, including 3-D xray twice to make sure. He took the time, wasn't in rush and showed us the xrays. On May 31 we came back for the root canal. My son was extremely nervous. Dr. Chuang made him calm and the whole process took less than an hour. The needle for the novocaine was as this as a hair (bendable). He explained every single step that he was about to do, so my son felt good, trusted him and enjoyed being educated by him. My son had no pain at all after the root canal. So if you need to see an Endodontics, go to Reading Endodontics. Dr. Chuang and his staff are wonderful! read more

A few weeks ago, I needed a root canal. My usual dentist was booked a few weeks out, but I (luckily) learned of Reading Endodontics through a friend. After being warmly greeted at the front desk, I filled out all of the usual patient intake forms in their beautifully soothing waiting area. The waiting area is full of all sorts of interesting (and mercifully, distracting) artifacts and pieces of art from around the world - it feels more like a high end spa than a dreaded medical office. Once it was time for my appointment, Dr. Chuang's assistant took X-Rays, and then he sat and thoroughly explained what needed to be done and how the procedure would work. He was very reassuring, and excellent at making what I'm sure is a complex process seem simple and easy to understand. He then applied a topical anesthetic before injecting local anesthesia into my gums and jaw, making the entire process pain and discomfort-free. In fact, once the local anesthetic kicked in, I was so comfortable that I quickly dozed off and spent the entire root canal itself fast asleep - the first good sleep I'd been able to get since the tooth started bothering me. I woke up at the conclusion of the initial root canal completely pain free. The second part of the procedure a few days later was more of the same - smooth, relaxing, and completely painless. Every part of the experience - from making the appointment, to the intake, to the root canal itself, to the follow up - made it abundantly clear that Dr. Chuang and his staff are the absolute best in the business. In short, I can't recommend Reading Endodontics enough. I hope you never need a root canal (ouch!), but if you do, Dr. Chuang and his staff are the absolute best at what they do, and will have you feeling great again in no time. read more

It may sound odd saying it, but I had the PLEASURE of having a root canal done by Dr. Brian Chuang at Reading Endodontics, while I was home visiting family in the area. (I am a military wife currently stationed in Japan, but I much prefer having healthcare needs attended to back in the states, specifically in the Boston area, where I am from). My dentist referred me to Dr. Chuang when one of my back molars developed a toothache out of the blue. I'd never had a root canal done before and the term made me really nervous, so I was reassured to know that my dentist placed her utmost trust in Dr. Chuang and wanted me to be seen there. From the minute I walked through the door, I experienced a zen-like feeling of calming. The soothing colors and decor gave the office a soothing sense that I've only ever before experienced in a spa. I was warmly greeted, and treated like royalty throughout my visit. Their attention to detail with regard to patient comfort was really refreshing. I was brought back into the state-of-the-art treatment room where Dr. Chuang showed me his fancy technology and flat screen TV overhead. He gave me the option of either watching a video on Netflix, or scanning through different cities throughout the world using a GPS-like app that seemed kind of space age. I felt no pain throughout the procedure. Dr. Chuang was gentle, and explained what he was doing thoroughly to me. In fact, I almost fell asleep! (A mom of a toddler, a few minutes of alone time was just what the doctor ordered, even if it was to receive a root canal!) I highly recommend Dr. Chuang for anyone who is in need of a root canal, it will be worth your visit!! read more

If I had known how easy this procedure was going to be, I would have been here a year ago! I needed affordable care just as much as I needed a quality Dr. but this office and staff exceeded my expectations. The waiting room was immaculate and the front desk staff was very welcoming. I was surprisingly relaxed while waiting for my turn and was even more relaxed when I sat in the chair. I actually felt like I walked into a high end spa! I had procrastinated for way too long due to fear of having my first root canal but now I regret not visiting sooner. Dr. Brian Chuang and his assistant were very thoughtful, gentle and had a great sense of humor. I got to listen to my choice of music and actually felt like this was a relaxing part of my day. This is also the first Dr. I a very long time that took the time to explain things to me and let me ask as many questions as I needed. The other review on this site from 10/2014 says "I had the pleasure of having a root canal here" and I would have to concur. I had two consultations at two different places and am so happy I chose Reading Endodontic. If you have to get a root canal, this is the place to go. This is my first review I've ever written anywhere and just felt it was the least I could do after being in pain and hesitating to visit any office for over a year. What a pleasant and unexpected surprise! Mandi read more

This is my first yelp review. The quality of my care has compelled me to write this. Dr. Brian and his staff go above and beyond. Not only did he squeeze me into his already backed up schedule (from all the snow storms) but he and his staff stayed after hours to make sure I was well taken care of before I left for vacation. (Yes, late on a Holiday) His office has a "spa" quality to it. No strong "dentist office" odor here. They even ask what kind of music you enjoy and dial it up on Spotify. Once in the chair, Dr. Brian answered all of my questions and concerns. He puts everything in easy to understand terms. He is extremely patient and thorough. I never felt rushed or overwhelmed. He is sure to make you well informed before you make your decision. No high pressure sales here. He answers your questions, educates you, gives you risks and benefits and allows you to make an informed decision. As a medical professional myself, I can appreciate when someone such as Dr. Brian Chuang is extremely competent and a skilled clinician. He is very gentle with his injections and makes absolutely sure you are comfortable throughout. He suspected that I had an extra canal and took extra time to search for and find one. As weird as Andrea's comment sounds, I too had "the PLEASURE of having a root canal done by Dr. Brian Chuang". read more

I had been having an "issue" with my teeth for a while. Because I began experiencing constant pain, I went to my regular dentist for a consultation. He did some X-rays and took a look at my teeth and couldn't see any issues. After enduring some fairly considerable nerve pain, that began to extend into my face and jaw, I was referred to Dr. Chuang by my dentist. He told me Dr. Chuang was his "go-to guy" to see for diagnosing particularly difficult tooth problems, and to do root canals. Thankfully, Dr. Chuang's awesome assistant Carole was able to get me in quickly for a consultation, which resulted in an immediate root canal. (I had a particularly difficult tooth condition to diagnose.) Dr. Chuang was very informative, professional, considerate and sensitive to all of my needs as his patient throughout the diagnosis and root canal process. He made certain I was fully informed and completely comfortable throughout the entire procedure. I achieved immediate relief after my first visit with him from the terrible pain I had been experiencing. Dr. Chuang and his staff are definite "keepers". read more

Unfortunately, I have had to have too many root canals, and recently one of my earlier root canals became infected. Searching for a specialist in endodontics, I found Dr. Brian Chuang. Being unfamiliar with Dr. Chuang, I didn't know what to expect except the dreadful confirmation that I required an apicoectomy. From the moment I entered the office, my expectations were exceeded. I immediately felt that I was in excellent hands with Dr. Chuang. He is an expert! His attention to details was very comforting. I really felt like he knew exactly what needed to be done, and how to accomplish it. His office is well designed and inviting, and his staff are very personable. I would highly recommend Dr. Chuang for any type of endodontic treatment. After many root canals, I found an expert in the field, and understand the difference between my Dentist performing root canals and an expert in the field. Dr. Chuang is a true gem in the field. read more

I was in so much pain and in desperate need of a root canal. My dentist's office contacted Reading Endodontics and they were able to see me within the hour. Even upon my arrival into the office, the staff, Angelica and Lilly, were extremely welcoming and sympathetic and were wonderful! Once I got into a treatment room, Dr. Brian Chuang was kind, understanding, and able to start my treatment. Dr, Chuang created an extremely relaxing environment, including speaking softly and used what I felt was meditative techniques to help me relax. From the tapping of my shoulder, reminders to breath, and the wonderfully relaxing music, I was very, very happy with the course of my treatment, After walking in the door in extreme pain, after an hour or so, I left the office feeling so very much better. I would recommend this endodontist and office to anyone and everyone!! read more

I recently had a scheduled appointment for a root canal. The morning of my appointment I woke up in excruciating pain along with a very swollen face. I called Dr. Chuang and asked if it was possible to get in ASAP rather than wait for my afternoon appointment. He worked with another patient to reschedule (thank you patient!) and fit me in within 15 minutes of my phone call. Let me just say that this was my first visit to Reading Endodontics and I was very impressed. Comfort is definitely their number one priority.....from soothing music (your choice) to a spa like atmosphere along with extreme professionalism, what more could you ask for? I would not hesitate to highly recommend Dr. Chuang. Oops, almost forgot to mention the staff, Stephanie and Dr. Chuang's dental assistant (I'm sorry I've forgotten her name) were excellent to deal with. read more

Dr. Chuang is a superstar and I had a great experience at Reading Endodontics. I was having intense pain about 9 months after having a faulty root canal done at another local endodontist and I obviously didn't want to go back to the same Dr. that did the first procedure. So I asked around and everyone told me Dr. Chuang was the expert to go to. He is super skilled with excellent technique and a comforting bedside manner. He explains everything and shows you exactly what he will be doing...which always puts me at ease. His staff is very professional and accommodating and the office is very Zen and comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend him to friends, family and anyone looking for the best endodontist in the area. My tooth is great, I am pain free and I could not be happier. I only wish I went to him in the first place. read more

I have had two root canals performed by Dr. Chuang. As far as I'm concerned, I strongly recommend Brian not only for his sound background and education but also because he is a doctor who truly cares about the patient. My level of trust with Brian is high. He explains a patient's questions or concerns very clearly and makes a point to follow up with a call the next day to make certain all is going well....now that's what I call ownership. The office enviornment is exceptionally clean and comfortable and as trite as it may sound even soothing. And, as a bonus there's the friendly and courteous staff. The simple truth is that Dr. Chuang's theme or premise of "Relax, Relieve, Restore" are not just mere words but actual Reality. Ps...the expresso is sublime! Jim Catalano Salem, MA. read more

Hooray for making a not so pleasant procedure be as pleasant as possible! The Dr. and his assistant Angelica were both super caring and really helped to appease my nerves as a first timer. A root canal isn't an easy thing to go through and I appreciate their compassion and process of walking me through each step so I was prepared with the knowledge of what to expect before the procedure began. The office is so calming and soothing, I never thought I'd say I didn't' want to leave a dentist's office before, but it is hard to leave such a welcoming environment! The office is nicer than some spas I have frequented. All of the equipment is top of the line, with your choice of calming music or even netflix to watch while the procedure is being performed. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Chuang and his staff at Reading Endodontics. I agree with others who posted about feeling at ease from the minute you walked in to the minute you left. He was very thorough with his explanations, gentle with his work, and I told him he was like the "tooth whisperer." I felt no pain the next day even after having a lot of Novocain. I expected to hurt even where he administered the shot but was pleasantly surprised by how I felt the next day. They called to follow up to see how I was feeling and provided an overall wonderful experience for someone who is a dentist phobic! I highly recommend Dr. Brian Chuang and his staff to anyone needing a root canal. read more

As I entered the Suite of Reading Endodontics, I was amazed. It is so very beautiful and fascinating! Dr. Chuang is the BEST! I finished two sessions with the Dr.and I can say he worked so diligently removing a very bad infected root canal! He is so kind and thoughtful, and this had a real calming effect on me. Once the procedure was started I knew Dr. Chuang was the right Dr. for me. Also, Nurse Carol's gentle pat on my shoulder was WONDERFUL. Stephanie represents the office perfectly, and her follow up call is great. This means a lot! I certainly will recommend Dr. Chuang -Reading Endodontics to anyone needing work done on their teeth. Today I had my first experience with a root canal. I want to thank Dr. Chuang and his wonderful staff. Hearing for years fearful stories about this procedure I must say at first I was a bit nervous prior to my appointment. My husband was a patient of his one year ago yesterday! Coincidence? After seeing how calming the office was then and the success of my husbands procedure I was not afraid. We are from upstate New York and I would travel to have the peaceful as well as the state of the art endodontist work done by Dr. Chuang if needed. I have been comfortable all day. Having my teeth cleaned back home is worse. Thank you all for your kindness to me. Jaylyn read more

The experience of my root canal was gentle, calm , and quick. I fell asleep in the chair twice and Dr Chuang had to ask me to open my mouth wider which woke me up. The office atmosphere is a serene retreat with trees being the overall theme, which I have a personal affinity for. When I saw the beautiful photos and art I immediately knew I was in very special hands. The root canal was like a walk in the park .... No a walk down Sesame Street. So kind , gentle, thorough, great staff , easy going atmosphere. Blessed be the best experience for a first time root canal. Thank you for being in Reading. I told everyone who would listen. This was my first root canal and I was a bit apprehensive. I experienced NO pain whatsoever during the procedure. This was done on a molar in the back that had 3 roots, so not a simple job. Dr. Chuang spent time fully explaining the procedure, what I could expect as a result. He answered many questions I had along the way. This made me feel very comfortable and eased my nervousness. While having work done he uses Spotify so you can pick whatever music you would like to listen to (no muzak here!). The office is very comfortable and clearly made to help relax you prior to having work done. His staff are very professional and welcoming. read more

I highly recommend Reading Endodontics - Dr. Chuang is exceptional! My excellent dentist recommended Dr. Chuang over other endodontists closer to my home because he is simply the best. My experience with Dr. Chuang and his staff confirmed my dentist's opinion. He made every effort to make me feel at ease, including my choice of music, and his amazing waiting area is the opposite of the sterile environment you find at most medical offices. My root canal was more involved than some, but it was obvious that Dr. Chuang was being careful and thorough in order to do a perfect job. read more

Dr. Chang is a very compassionate, skilled, and accommodating endodontist. I was in an emergency situation and was referred to Dr. Chang from my dentist.
