Avoid Commack Pediatrics - A Nightmare Experience from Start to Finish…read more I work in healthcare, have been a caretaker for both my parents, and have lived in multiple states. I also have experience in various industries, and I am absolutely blown away by how unprofessional Commack Pediatrics has become. Unprofessionalism & Poor Patient Care I initially chose this practice because my child was born during the pandemic, and I wanted a local provider. I read reviews, chose a doctor, and stayed with them for over three years. However, my experience deteriorated over time. From the rundown office to disorganized medical care, this place became unbearable. My child had an undiagnosed condition for far too long, causing unnecessary stress before we finally got answers from a specialist. One doctor even screamed at us in the parking lot during an urgent visit, adding to an already stressful experience. The front desk staff is consistently rude--they rarely greet patients, and over time, their attitude became more dismissive and unhelpful. At one point, after I missed a flu shot appointment while hospitalized for severe pregnancy complications, they harassed me with multiple calls and messages, demonstrating a complete lack of empathy. Medical Records Nightmare - A Battle to Obtain What Should Be Basic The final straw came when I switched to a highly reputable pediatric practice. Despite repeated requests for my child's medical records, Commack Pediatrics lied about sending them and became outright hostile. * My new doctor's office tried calling multiple times and was verbally attacked by the Commack Pediatrics staff. * The old office claimed they sent the records four times, yet refused to send them again, even though my new provider never received them. * Even my husband, who works in healthcare and remains calm under pressure, hit a wall when requesting the records. After an entire day of battling to obtain my child's medical records, it ultimately took my husband emphasizing that this was for a child--and that delaying these records any further could prevent her from receiving necessary medical care--for them to finally comply. What's baffling is that earlier in the same day, they repeatedly insisted they had 30 days to fulfill the request and outright refused to send the records. Yet, with enough persistence (and a lot of huffing and puffing on their end), suddenly someone else was able to send them immediately. Final Verdict: Avoid This Practice at All Costs This office is unprofessional, disorganized, and unwelcoming. If you ever need urgent care, medical records, or basic human decency, do not count on them. If you're considering this office, think twice. Unless you have a specific doctor you trust, be aware that: * Appointments are difficult to schedule * Emergencies are handled poorly * The front desk is dismissive and unhelpful * Obtaining paperwork is a nightmare After sharing my experience with friends and family in the area, I was not surprised to hear that others have also had nightmare encounters with this office. It solidified my belief that no family should ever have to go through this. I'm using my voice and this platform to warn other parents who are researching providers and seeking consistent, reliable care for their children. If you value professionalism, efficiency, and respect, look elsewhere. Thankfully, I am now starting fresh with highly reputable doctors who actually prioritize patient care. I can finally close this chapter and move forward with my life.

In conversations before the bris, I knew that my friend was nervous about the process, the ceremony, and the actual circumcision. I can say with confidence that Dr. Rumbak put the family's mind at ease both with her expertise and her gentle approach. As a "spectator" at the ceremony, Dr. Rumbak passed around sheets so we can all follow along and feel part of the ceremony, and explained what different blessings meant. She also added some Jewish text in a modern and relevant way, which I appreciated, and my family continued to discuss post ceremony. The sweet baby did super well and was calm throughout the entire process. Truthfully, I didn't even know when the actual circumcision actually happened because she was so gentle and discrete. At the end of the ceremony, many people went up to Dr. Rumbak to compliment her on one of the best brit mila's they ever went to, and many asked for her card (including my mom for our temple!). She has a great business partner in Shachar, who socialized with the guests of the ceremony, kept everything organized, and was just an all around stand up guy. Oh, and how great that she is a mohel AND a doctor. Talk about putting your mind at ease..that will definitely do it. Highly recommend.

Would have loved so much to give a glowing review of Dr. Rumbak but unfortunately we look back on…read morethe day of my son's bris and what transpired after with a lot of sadness. Dr. Rumbak deserves credit and thanks for her discretion in not circumcising our son the day of his bris due to a urological condition she noticed in her ore-ceremony examination. We are thankful for that. She performed what essentially worked out to a baby naming ceremony for us. Obviously the day was emotional to begin with and the news she couldn't circumcise was extremely disappointing and heartbreaking since this was a day we looked forward to for so long. In the days after the bris we were able to absorb the events better and realized exactly what happened. To begin with, my wife asked for a program to keep as they were being collected (yes, collected), and the response was, "I collect them." She said the same to my mom (baby's grandma). We consider this ridiculous - even if the baby's grandparents couldn't have one, at least the parents should. When I emailed Dr. Rumbak about the issue I'm about to describe, I also mentioned the program and that part of my email was left unaddressed. Here's the major problem, though. We paid $800 for a circumcision plus $150 for travel from Manhattan to Nassau. We were happy to do this because we really liked Dr. Rumbak on the phone. However, after the bris, we had a bit of a realization that really irked us. Why were we never offered any kind of refund for the circumcision not being performed? It really should have been offered that day, on the spot, but it wasn't. Days and weeks turned to months and we still were never offered anything. We didn't even get an email or phone call to check on our son given the medical issue Dr. Rumbak identified. This was surprising given the emotional nature of the day but also because part of Dr. Rumbak's service (advertised on her web site and vouched for in her reviews) is her frequent follow up with the family. Finally after a few months, I emailed her explaining we feel we are owed some kind of refund due to the most critical part of the ceremony, the circumcision, not being performed. It is that expertise for which we paid. Dr. Rumbak issued a $200 refund, saying that the rate for a baby naming is $600. It's unfortunate such a beautiful day was soured by the experience we had. As new parents we feel we were, in a way, taken advantage of. Dr. Rumbak did ultimately give some money back, but we feel we shouldn't have had to ask. Experiences like this are what make people cynical about organized religion. The right thing to do would have been to give us a refund without us having to ask. We would not recommend her.

As a result, they have an obligation to try to keep their customers happy. We needed a companion for our beloved family member and while we were a little shocked by the cost, $600 a night, we hoped that the companions who we hired would be empathetic and hopefully we'll compensated for their time. Overall we were very satisfied with the companions as well as the customer service. One thing you should know. If you arrange for a companion and your patient ends up getting discharged from the hospital, you still have to pay the full price for night. No refunds. So I'd advise waiting until the afternoon before reserving a companion or nurse, since once you order the service you are committed to pay the full price.
