Despite my skepticism this time I tried one, the "BBQ Chicken Pizza" (UKP 10.99 "airport price"), and it was surprisingly decent. Not outstanding, but certainly of "standard Italian neighborhood joint" quality. Which is no mean feat considering the food standard of the Spoon. The rest as usual: One of the more stylish airport pubs I've visited over the years; prices are of course elevated compared to downtown JDW's (some by 50%!). Generally friendly and efficient service, vast range of alcoholic drinks available. The prices for drinks are less elevated than the ones for food. A good place to hang out while waiting for your flight, and certainly superior to the other bars & pubs at Stansted Airport. Recommended.

I waited patiently, a third barmaid came out, and started taking a very complicated food order next to me. I became aware that people in the middle of the bar were being served before me, so I moved to try and be more prominent. Soon, one of the barmaids became free but did not make eye contact or acknowledge me in any way. She started to talk to her colleague. I asked if I could please be served, as by this point, I had been waiting 10 minutes, and two people had been served ahead of me. The barmaid looked at me and told me to bot be rude and that she had been about to serve me. I stated that I had not been rude, I merely wanted service and was anxious as people had been served ahead of me. The barmaid then walked away and refused to serve me. I have been going to the blue boar for many years and have always tried to justify poor service. However, today's was just too much. I always make a point of being kind to service workers, especially when they are clearly busy, but I do not expect to be spoken to in that way. My lack of service will mean very little in the long run to wearherspoons, as they clearly did not care, but I dont think I'll be going there again. I forgive dirty tables, waiting for food, even often cold food or the wrong orders. But please don't be rude.

I have also eaten here on a Sunday and they food was good. It wasnt the best food I had but was acceptable for what you pay for. I never had any trouble getting a table for our party (there were 6 of us) and much to my surprise our meals were bought out at the same time and were hot (which some pub chains struggle with). Only draw back is parking space. There is a small car park to the rear of the venue but when full other options are limited unless you know the area well.

Settled in on a dewy Saturday evening (as in, the clouds opened about an hour into our meal) for a delicious pub dinner of steak onglet and lamb chops. Lamb chops were the real winner though, and paired with a glass of Cote du Rhone, we were set for the evening - even when it began to rain. Staff were so nice and apologetic about running out of my first choice (err, the lamb chops - I was generous and let my husband have his!) and replacing it with the steak instead. Rare to find in any pub, let alone one this far east! Definitely worth stopping by - live music on select evenings and the big space means it doesn't get crowded too easily.
