Went in today for a New Year's Day lunch. Expecting it to be busy, I went to the bar and saw two clearly very busy barmaids. I waited patiently, a third barmaid came out, and started taking a very complicated food order next to me. I became aware that people in the middle of the bar were being served before me, so I moved to try and be more prominent. Soon, one of the barmaids became free but did not make eye contact or acknowledge me in any way. She started to talk to her colleague. I asked if I could please be served, as by this point, I had been waiting 10 minutes, and two people had been served ahead of me. The barmaid looked at me and told me to bot be rude and that she had been about to serve me. I stated that I had not been rude, I merely wanted service and was anxious as people had been served ahead of me. The barmaid then walked away and refused to serve me. I have been going to the blue boar for many years and have always tried to justify poor service. However, today's was just too much. I always make a point of being kind to service workers, especially when they are clearly busy, but I do not expect to be spoken to in that way. My lack of service will mean very little in the long run to wearherspoons, as they clearly did not care, but I dont think I'll be going there again. I forgive dirty tables, waiting for food, even often cold food or the wrong orders. But please don't be rude. read more

The Blue Boar is your typical Wetherspoons and it attracts quite a mixed crowd. I am 24 and have found that Friday/Saturday nights are mainly for the younger crowd who are going her for cheap pre-drinks prior to heading onto a club after. The drinks are very reasonably proced (as Wetherspoons are) and despite the fact that there is no music allowed to be played in there, there is still a good atmosphere. I have also eaten here on a Sunday and they food was good. It wasnt the best food I had but was acceptable for what you pay for. I never had any trouble getting a table for our party (there were 6 of us) and much to my surprise our meals were bought out at the same time and were hot (which some pub chains struggle with). Only draw back is parking space. There is a small car park to the rear of the venue but when full other options are limited unless you know the area well. read more

A nice clean well looked after Wetherspoons, offering cheap food and drinks. Roast dinners on Sunday and a nice breakfasts in the mornings. The bar staff were very friendly and the service was quick. The meals I've eaten in here have always been well cooked and arrived without too much of a wait. Children are welcome in this wetherspoons. This wetherspoons has a nice atmosphere and I would return when I am next in Billericay. read more

The Blue Boar is a fairly ok example of a Wetherspoons pub. Like others in the chain they do themed food evenings, I've been to the curry one on a Thursday and it was good for the price, nothing special but ok if you don't feel like cooking. The drinks are cheap and there's a good selection. They also do themed events like an Octoberfest and Burns night etc. The pub is conveniently situated on the High St and has a bit of a seating area at the back, they are pretty child friendly as long as you eat. I've been there with a post natal group and lots of babies. They were very helpful and the toilets were clean. read more
