We had a perfectly nice meal at this Wetherspoons branch in Stansted. Having a few hours to kill, we stopped in for lunch. This one is quite spacious for an airport restaurant. It has a large downstairs bar/restaurant area as well as a smaller but still impressive upper floor with another bar and more seating. We sat upstairs as it was way less crowded. We ordered the fish and chips, and the mozzarella, tomato and pesto toasted bagel with a side of tomato soup. The fish and chips were okay, the fish was a bit chewy and the chips were nice and crispy but sparse. My bagel was good but I was shocked at the size of the soup! It was sitting in a MINUSCULE dish (can't even call it a bowl) on my plate. At first I honestly thought it was a side of ketchup, until I noticed the matching minuscule spoon. I found it funny but definitely not worth the extra money. Service was perfectly fine- our server was attentive and chuckled with us when I couldn't understand his accent. There was no separate wifi, just the Stansted connection that I have previously ranted and raved about. On the bright side, there were sockets right at our table, which is always helpful to find while traveling.

Its not bad. Priced as you would expect from an airport pub, The Windmill was clean and well staffed. Service was quick, food arrived fairly quickly too. You aren't going to get blown away by anything they do here, but it's better food and value than the Ryanair flight you are about to board will offer.

Standard Wetherspoons atmosphere with added bonus that the inflated airport prices are still low enough to be reasonable.

Always busy, and a little bit cramped. Food is OK, service is OK, useful pit-stop when you're in a rush.

A wonderful pub in Bishop's Stortford, it's a proper old pub with centuries of history and a great…read morefeature is how it's separated into different rooms on different levels. The staff were very welcoming and we found a number of real ales on, although I don't recall seeing any craft beers. There's an outside courtyard and apparently a large room at the back with a stage where they host live music. The walls are decorated with various old paintings, and there's a fire place in one part of the pub. It's easily a place where I could see whiling away an afternoon or evening in a very traditional setting! They weren't serving food when we were there which was a little surprising given it was a Saturday evening, but someone said they were doing food at lunchtime. Although, with a food hygiene rating of 2 out of 5 according to the Scores on the Doors website you may not want to eat here anyway. Hopefully I will make it back at some point to enjoy the pub some more! Possibly skipping the food though...

Nice boozer, with an almost labyrinth layout. the other reviews have this place spot on, my only…read morecomment would be that since the smoking ban, the 'problem' with the loo's has become more apparent. This in no way detracts from the charm of the place, particularly if you're out with some mates, but if you're taking your other half out, just forewarn them before they take a trip to the WC. The best pub in town by a long shot.
