There are pub lunches, gastrobars, brasseries, and cafés. But to me, few places earn the hallmark of quality that is a GOOD steak. It's my go to order, it's a core of any western dining experience. We were here for about 4-5 hours and we ordered two 'nibble' dishes and then went of the quality of those dishes to order a meal.
Let me tell you about the nibbles, a platter of delicious looking bite sized items, ranging from chicken wings to mini hotdog pastries, to black pudding, with cheese fondu, great for 3-4 people. But my favourite was the chicken, tender breast chicken bits, wrapped in a nut/rosemary/sea salt mixture, with manuka honey sauce. It was freaking delicious.
After that, several wines and a rousing debate over local body politics we attacked a dinner. I had a steak and due to my long lasting hate affair with tomatoes, I asked for a different sauce and settled on a red wine jus. What followed was their special triple thickness home cut chips, heavily battered (but not oily) onion rings and one of the best steaks I've tasted.
Service was awesome, friendly, relaxed atmosphere and a great place. Highly recommended. read more
