It's my go to order, it's a core of any western dining experience. We were here for about 4-5 hours and we ordered two 'nibble' dishes and then went of the quality of those dishes to order a meal. Let me tell you about the nibbles, a platter of delicious looking bite sized items, ranging from chicken wings to mini hotdog pastries, to black pudding, with cheese fondu, great for 3-4 people. But my favourite was the chicken, tender breast chicken bits, wrapped in a nut/rosemary/sea salt mixture, with manuka honey sauce. It was freaking delicious. After that, several wines and a rousing debate over local body politics we attacked a dinner. I had a steak and due to my long lasting hate affair with tomatoes, I asked for a different sauce and settled on a red wine jus. What followed was their special triple thickness home cut chips, heavily battered (but not oily) onion rings and one of the best steaks I've tasted. Service was awesome, friendly, relaxed atmosphere and a great place. Highly recommended.

My wife and I had a meal that was a study in contrasts, great food and VERY average service…read more In the hour or so we were in the place there were four or five mistakes, wrong wine, missed side order, could not print a bill before payment, serving assumptions that were wrong etc. that really it took the shine off of what was four very nice plates of food, 2 mains and 2 desserts. The food was REALLY good, in fact probably one of the top 10 steaks I have had in a NZ restaurant and the chocolate dessert was a masterpiece in flavour combinations.
