If you think you know what you might like, just start listing adjectives and they will make amazing recommendations. They also understand the patterns of beer releases. For example if there is a stout you remember as being amazing and you know the name, they will most like know when or if it will be released again. The beers have a great amount of labeling with helpful details, especially if you aren't familiar with a particular brewer or style of beer. But again, don't hesitate to ask if you have additional questions. Social Media - I love the beer tastings!!! Well then let me point out one such fellow "Greg"(store owner) and ask him. Looking for a sour lambic, what about a smokey, bacon-y rauchbeir, maybe a solid hefeweizen would win. My point is there are just so many different beers here that it would beseech you to try more than just the regular. The shop is large and very open. Shelves with plenty of beer and in the back, coolers of beer already chilled. You can get also get small kegs of stuff like Oxbow. A great deal that he offers as well is discounts on mix and matching beers for 4 packs and 6 packs and if you sign up for the email list he will track the amount that you purchase. Once you reach a 100 dollars he will give you back a 5% off. You can spend it then or you can wait and save them up so you could get 10%, 15%, or 20%. A nice thank you to the customer. They do a lot of beer tastings during the week and they have great music playing as well. The biggest knock on the place is the small and awkward parking lot which can get very tight. Plus, where it is located you have to be traveling North on forest ave to get to it. Stop by, say hi to Greg if he is working, get a six pack and sign up your email. Great Location, Great Website and Cute Store and EXCELLENT parking options. It's not a large store, which is great in so many ways, but it also can limit the selection available. The good news not only did we find a hard to find beer, Oskar Blues - Ten Fidy, we also found some other gems while we were waiting for the online order to be filled. Imperial Maple Sunday made by Lone Pine and Orange Duct Tape by Stoneface. The checkout process was easy. There was a bit of brief confusion when we arrived. I had placed my order after 8pm and the gentleman running the store seemed confused as he hadn't seen it by the time we came in the next day at 1:30 (they open at 11am). It was fine, because they hadn't sold my pre-ordered beer. It did make me a bit nervous. The experience was pleasant. If there is something specific you are looking for, I would recommend going online first to order, or call ahead. It's a smallish store, so you may have to ask for a special order. The store was very clean and organized and good dates on the beers we were looking at. Also some single cans available to buy - which I love so I'm not stuck with 3 cans of beer I didn't like. I would recommend checking this place out, especially if you are in the area. I will definitely bookmark them as a place to easily order beer online for curbside/in-store(masked) pick up.

There is plenty of parking as well which is a must when you're buying heavy, liquid filled cans and bottles. First off, they carry a lot of local beer and spirits which is critical because it's the best. Second, they have one of those cool walk in refrigerators, if you're into the domestic stuff. Third, you can special order a lot of stuff directly through their distributor. I did this over the summer with Oxbow Surf Melon hose because I couldn't find the beer anywhere and wasn't willing to go to Oxbow itself. They put the order in and called a week or so later when they had it in the shop for me. I went in, paid and was out the door. SO good to know you can do that! To finish off, the biggest lesson I've learned is NOT to drive into Portland to buy new flavors of seltzer at Apres because Hops and Vine will have it! I always go out of my way to go to Portland to get the newest Apres and then end up at Hopes and Vine soon after and kick myself when I see the special flavor I drove to Portland for.

Barreled Souls Brewing is a craft brewery that opened in Saco, Maine in July 2014. It was founded…read moreby childhood friends Chris Schofield and Matthew Mills. The two met in elementary school and have been friends ever since. After turning 21, Schofield received a homebrewing kit from his father and started homebrewing. In 2003, he got a job working as the assistant brewer at Federal Jack's brewpub in Kennebunkport. Later, Schofield was hired as the lead brewing consultant for the design and development of the Railroad Seafood Station Restaurant and Brewpub. Meanwhile, Mills worked in the hospitality industry and managed a number of bars and restaurants. He developed a reputation for pairing food, wine, and beer selections with his customers' tastes, interests, and budgets. Mills even opened his own high-end retail wine company. Finally the two friends decided to collaborate and open their own brewery. They opened their modest brewery in the basement of a law office. Unlike other breweries, 100% of Barreled Souls' beer undergoes primary fermentation in oak barrels as opposed to stainless steel tanks. This fermentation system is based off of the Burton Union system, which was a method of fermenting beer developed in England in the 1800's. Although they have a relatively small operation, Barreled Souls has earned a reputation for producing some of the best beers in Maine. I visited Barreled Souls with my older son this summer while my I was spending the week in Maine with my family. Barreled Souls had been on my brewery bucket list for a while. I was surprised to see what a small operation they were, but that was fine with me as I usually prefer smaller breweries. I initially ordered a taster flight which featured "Purple Rain" (Fruited Sour), "No Clean Cups" (Double IPA), "The Mind Flayer" (Imperial Stout), and "Knob Creek Extended BA Nebula" (Bourbon Barrel-Aged Barleywine). Every single beer that I sampled was fantastic! The brewery also has their own food truck dubbed "Barreled Souls Burger". I enjoyed their delicious "Bold Brunch" (quarter pound patty topped w/ hash browns, bacon, cheddar cheese & a fried egg) while my son enjoyed the "Tachos" (loaded cheesy tots topped w/ taco beef, jalapeños, onions, black olives, served w/ sour cream & salsa). I was so impressed with the beer that I ordered a second flight that featured "Speakeasy Red Sangria" (Red Wine Barrel-Aged Gose), "The Pineapple Upside Down" (Triple New England IPA), "Vecna" (Imperial Fruited Sour), and "Banana Bread at Work Dude" (Bourbon Barrel-Aged Barleywine; collab w/ Abomination Brewing). I was equally impressed with these beers, and I love all of the "Stranger Things" references in the beer names. Before leaving, I purchased a bottle of "Strawberry Jam Stay Puft" (Imperial Stout) to take home. I had an excellent experience at Barreled Souls and I highly recommend them to all serious craft beer aficionados!
