This place has a wonderful selection of liquor. I was looking for a certain bottle of tequila for the holidays. Every place was out. I tried this out of desperation. The nice clerk told me he was out but would look out back to see if a shipment came in. He came out with the right bottle and told me it's been on hold for someone but they failed to grab it. SCORE!!! then he did something that really made my day. HE CARDED ME!!! I'm pushing 50 so you could just imagine my delight! I asked him if he accepted tips. All kidding aside, hit up this place. We stopped drinking beer back in 2013 (more room for bourbon and wine!) so moving back to Maine is funny because at some point it became a craft beer hub...which I think is freaking awesome. We had a flight at Liquid Riot, and on the way home noticed this great little shop - so we popped in with visions of tasty cans in our heads. We were absolutely blown away when we got inside. There were yeasty concoctions from all over this beautiful state for as far as the eye could see (which to be honest wasn't that far, as it's a quaint little place). I'm not sure when the gorgeous beer label revolution occurred, but hot damn I'm so glad to be a witness to it. Phenomenal designs wrapped the cans shelf after shelf after shelf, and I found myself wanting to pick up and read each and every one. Ales, stouts, lagers - even IPAs got my mouth watering based simply on label alone. We didn't find what we came for, but with the help of the guy behind the counter (shoutout, guy-behind-the-counter!) we were able to find some delightful fruit sours which went down quite smooth once we got home. I love this place. It's just down the street from where I work, so I'll be popping in frequently to replenish our re-invigorated love for local brews. ...they also had wines and other spirits :) read more

Ok so I thought I had been to a few pretty good places for selections of craft brews and tasty wines before in Maine until I stepped into this little hidden gem tucked away in Scarborough. I think the one thing that completely stood out to me here was the simple fact that the staff was so passionate and energetic to help me in whatever needs that I had and even when the wife was looking for non-alcoholic selections, they were even excited to show her what they had in this department (usually we get the complete stink eye when we ask for non-alcoholic options from the snooty beer connoisseur). They have hundreds of selections of craft brews from all over the place and it was hard to even select a few and I was told that their keg selections are top notch for a great price. So, if you are looking for a place to go to get that rare brew or a select wine from everyone from the box cheapo wine to a very high end wine they have it here. read more

My wife loves chocolate more than anything, except me of course. Anyway she has recently acquired the taste of an excellent bottle of wine and when we recently discovered a wine called "The Chocolate Shop" well, let's just say she was super charged. The original place she purchased it was miles away so both of us began to search for the wine at local super markets and weren't able to find it. So my wife began to call local wine stores to see if they carried it. After a few called she finally hit the jackpot when she called Oak Hill Beverage in Scarborough. They answered the phone with great customer service and was able to find one bottle and hold it for her. Christmas was saved! Oak Hill Beverage was a bit of a challenge to find; however as of January 22nd that will all change as the move around the corner to a more viable place, where the Dollar Tree use to be in the Oak Hill area. We arrived a shot time after speaking on the phone with a sales representative and were greeted warmly and asked if we needed any help. The clerk immediately found our saved bottle of "The Chocolate Shop" and after a short wait in line we paid and were on our way. My wife and I certainly will be back again. Enjoy! read more

My boyfriend is a huge craft beer fan and Oak Hill does not disappoint. They have a really great variety of beer, wine, and ciders. Everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable about the product. They also have a great selection of singles, which allows me to try out different things. By the register, there is a cooler filled with cold singles as well. Oak hill beverage is a real gem that you will find tucked away in the vicinity of the shopping plaza of Walgreens and Arlberg ski/surf shop. Inside you will find a close to unmatched variety of craft beer, which is primarily what I buy, but also an expanding hard cider selection and a decent wine selection as well. They stock beers from all over, big and small, but do a particularly nice job of representing local breweries of Maine and Northeast. Aspects that make Oak Hill stand out aside from selection: How many places have you been to that you have no idea what the price is for what you chose with poor or virtually non existent signage?! Not here- they do a great job! Also if you don't see a beer you like or want bigger quantities, you can request if they can order it and nearly every time they have come through for me (plus I believe they still offer a 5% discount if you buy by the case). Staff is friendly and available for suggestions or assist. Periodically they hold tastings of wine and beer if you follow them on social media. Recommended! read more

I buy a case of assorted $20 wines every 3 months, and have not been unhappy with anything. Selection is excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful, without being intrusive to a browser like me. What keeps this rating at only 3 stars is the store interior. The space as it is currently designed is not selling the product. The lighting is similar to Costco's. Most problematic is the sunny, hot, and dirty window area that is the focal point of the front of the store. (You can see the glare in some of the Yelp photos.) The wines (particularly the sale rack) are so close to it, I wonder if their quality has degraded from the light and heat. Makes buying the wine far less appealing. If they would clean the window and mitigate the glare problem, and create some lounge-like ambiance up front (in addition to the cork-top table already in place), that would go a long way. I want to be able to envision drinking the wine on a terrace in Italy. read more

I was able to create my own six pack using ANY bottle which was nice. I think the owners name was Patrick and he was super helpful and knowledgeable helping me find what I was looking for. Very nice selection of wine and beer in this slightly hidden shop. The prices are just as good as at the supermarkets and the folks there have been very helpul to me in making wine selections. The new owner seems to be working on improving the funky ambiance, as the past few times I have been in i noticed new fixtures like shelves and lighting. read more

This wine shop is worth seeking out if you live in the Scarborough area. It's tucked behind a few buildings in the Oak Hill Plaza so it's not easy to see from the road. I met a client there to pick out some wines for her private wine event in her home and I am so glad that I did! I just left this establishment very saddened & shaken. The shorter gentlemen greeted me upon entering with, "ARE YOU OK!!" I've never been greeted with such a salutation in my life. He then followed me around the store the entire time I looked around and flung his hands in the air yelling, "CAN I HELP YOU OR WHAT"!! I have not experienced outright racism for about 15 years. I went outside and asked my amazing & very muscular Italian husband to come inside with me. He did. All following ceased. My husband stayed my side until we left. This establishment is very nice, well kept and full of a vast various of wine but the behavior of this shorter gentleman with glasses was extremely ugly. I did not respond to this man even once, I relied on my husband to be the protector that he is. It was shameful & we would not return but left peacefully. read more
