I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. Title: Very disappointed and frustrated…read more I first visited Aria Dental in July 2025 after reading positive reviews about Dr. Joe and the staff. His specialty is full mouth implants. I had been missing a tooth on my upper left side for many years and as my cheek appeared sunken, it was time to address the problem. I didn't have any discomfort but I had gotten into the habit of just chewing on my right side. I was interested in a tooth implant but was informed that I was not a candidate based on my bone deterioration. An option was a bridge. I signed the consent for bridge contract which stated it was a supplement to the discussion of risks versus benefits with Dr. Joe Mehranfar. The contract further stated it was my responsibility to seek attention from Dr. Joe Mehranfar should any undue or unexpected problems occur. Unfortunately, I had no contact with Dr. Joe prior to and after the bridge was done, despite repeated requests to have look at the finished work. The work was done by Dr. Kevin Lassiter and there were problems beginning with the temporary bridge and the final bridge. The temporary bridge was so uncomfortable that I was unable to eat and Dr. Theriot tried to adjust it with some success. I was assured that the final bridge would be a much better fit. As it turned out the final bridge was a poor fit and very uncomfortable. Again Dr. Theriot tried to adjust the fit but it was too bulky and there was a gap between the gum and the crown. I was told by a lab technician that it could take up to 6 months to get used to it. It's been 6 months and there has been no improvement. I went from no discomfort (prior to bridge) to 24/7 discomfort. On my last visit I once again requested that Dr. Joe examine the bridge but was informed by Dr. Theriot that Dr. Joe only works on full mouth implants and that they would not redo the bridge. Subsequently I received a 2nd and 3rd opinion from endodontists that had positive reviews. Both dentists agreed that the bridge was too bulky and the gap between the crown and the gum line can cause irritation. I was quoted $2500-$4500 to replace the bridge. I had already spent $3350 on the bridge, $550 on a deep cleaning prior to the work and $800 for 3 fillings at Aria Dental. Pros: Aria Dental has a very friendly, responsive staff, and I was able to get an emergency appointment to get a temporary crown for a tooth that broke off. I was not billed for the temporary crown. The environment is relaxing and modern. I was given a tour of their in-house lab where the implants are created. Cons: The contract misrepresented Dr. Joe's consult and follow up. Dr. Lassiter is a recent staff member and there are no reviews. Follow up professional opionions agreed that the bridge was evaluated as a poor fit and best dental practices were not observed.

The transition from the last practice was easy because of the personable positive help and flexibility from the staff. When I first met Dr Fialkoff for my exam I felt as if I was a patient for years. It is hard to explain but the doctor projects a professional warm caring common-sense concern for the patient that I found in the first dentist we had for 30 years who has since retired. Ever. That is all done through the lovely receptionist/scheduler. For my last xray taken in January 2025, I called and asked to speak with the dentist regarding the results and I was told that he could not take the call or answer any questions because he was "very sick" but the receptionist would be able to send me an email quoting what the dentist had told her. The office also returned my charge of $265 when I informed the office that I never received an explanation from the dentist. I brought this to the attention of Paradise Valley Dental. I was also told that a $10,000 correction (tooth extraction and implant) was necessary. After making an appointment for that procedure, I canceled realizing that this also was not needed. The dentist also made a "suggestion" that he could remove 2 more teeth since I made the comment that i "didn't like the color" of the two teeth. I declined the $10,000 procedure as well as the extraction/implant of the two teeth that I didn't like. In one letter, the receptionist referred to my first appointment with this office as being in 2018. That is incorrect. 2018 is the year I moved to Scottsdale. I did not originally seek treatment from them in 2018. When going through old Paradise Valley Dental bills. I found one that I was charged (and paid) for a $1200.00 surgery in Dec 2022. I called and emailed to ask why that surgery was done and what did "osseous surgery" mean. I had (and paid for) the surgery because I didn't ask upfront why it was needed. The only comment on the bill was "osseous surgery". It was extremely painful and expensive. When I asked about that bill and why I needed it, I could never get an answer. I went to a different dentist who told me that the tooth that Fialkoff wanted to extract , was just fine.
