Brett has a gift. You tell him exactly what your issues are and he jumps right in to elevate them. I would say he has a lot of controlled power, as he is a very big guy but also very gentle both in touch and in spirit. He also doesn't rush you out or give you less than an hour like a lot of places. It seems from his website he also offers many different types of massages from elderly, pregnant and for cancer. He did a combo for me of deep tissue, sports and neurothearpy. It sounds like he is also available for house calls in the Venice area. This place might be a bit hard to see, make sure you are looking for the 7906 sign as you won't see any others. You should be able to find meter parking around the streets but give yourself a few extra minutes to do so. read more

Wow.... Brett is so knowledgeable on the human body! This is not your traditional relaxing massage. If you're looking for someone who understands the human body, muscles, joints, nervous system, and fascia, you must go to Brett. I feel wonderful after only 1 session! read more

I had an amazing massage experience with Brett. He's very easy to communicate with and is very courteous in texts and in person. His location is easy to find and I had no problems finding any parking. When I arrived, I was greeted with a smile and a firm handshake, both positive signs of what was to come. The massage is in a private room that's very tranquil and dressed to the part. He had soothing classical musical on in the background. Brett was very professional and he did a quick interview/assessment to determine what I need. I suffer from symptoms of scoliosis so I had a few areas that I knew I needed work on. But for our first session, I wanted something for the entire body. The massage itself was wonderful. At times, I could feel myself falling asleep because it was so relaxing. And then where I needed it most, he gave just the correct amount of pressure to really get the kinks out. Brett has really strong hands and they really helped to release the tension in my shoulders and neck. He also recognized and focused on the areas affected by my scoliosis. At the end of the 1-hour massage, I was feeling extremely relaxed and rejuvenated! It really felt awesome. I'm definitely going to find Brett again when I'm back in the area or if I am in the need of a good massage. I would definitely recommend him to all my friends. read more

Brett has been by far the best experience I've had in massage. His work is never the same, he's so in tuned with your body's needs and how it's feeling, and works his magic based on that. He is a true healer! His hands feel like work of art on the body. And to top it off, he has the best personality and is very kind. If you're looking for a real body work, then look no further, you will not be disappointed! read more

I treat my body like an amusement park. As a dancer, yoga instructor, and generally fitness junkie, I am always in need of a massage. I was having some serious issues with my neck, shoulders, lower back, hips, quads, and hamstrings when I came to Brett. My old massage therapist had moved and I hadn't had a massage in weeks. My week had been very full of running around and teaching different places, so my body was shot. I stumbled upon Brett, called to make an appointment with him, spoke to him personally. He was extremely accommodating and helpful. When I arrived to his office I was relieved to find that he had a quiet, zen as well as warm space to work from. I explained to him that everything from my eyebrows down hurt. He started to fix me up right away with some electrical stimulation therapy before my massage which he transmitted through his hands. Very cool! After that I was already feeling better and uplifted. Then Brett administered a kick ass massage. I've had a lot of massages but this is definitely rising to the top. He keeps open communication with you, has extensive knowledge in several styles of massage, knows what different body types need what, which is extremely important for someone as active as me. I definitely will be back soon, working to make it a weekly thing in my schedule. When I feel like I'm Humpty Dumpty, it's good to have someone reliable put you back together again. read more

Went to Brett because I have chronic pain from sitting too much - back, neck, glutes, etc. I've had tons of massages, and I can definitely say his was one of the best. I chose him because I need extremely deep tissue work, and he did not disappoint. Even though my knots are stubborn as sh**, he didn't stop until they were annihilated. Super cool guy to boot read more

I'm a long-time Yelp lurker, and I am popping my review cherry because Brett is so amazing! Quick-and-Dirty: Brett's ability to feel out my muscles and target my areas of tension with great precision and pressure catapulted him to being my best massage experience EVER. The space of his office was a bit disorienting at first because it's in a non-descript building and I am used to spa-like settings, but those became such minor considerations in comparison to Brett's skills. Long Story: I've had several deep-tissue massages in the past from a number of different therapists. I do a lot of weight-lifting and I sit in front of a computer for 60+ hours per week for work and general web-browsing; basically, I have a lot of knots and carry a lot of tension in my muscles. Many times throughout the day, I can actually feel the soreness in my upper back from the tension in my muscles. I look for someone who can really attack my tense areas and get my muscles to relax. My session with Brett began with a conversation on what my needs were and what I hoped to get from our session. Brett was very kind and explained his background and how the session would go. From there, I was floored. Even with a lot of pressure, I generally don't make noises during massages. During my session with Brett, I broke this trend and did something else I've never done during a deep-tissue massage: I requested a break! Brett has the strongest hands I've experienced - enough to make all former deep-tissue massages I've had seem like child's play. This is not to say that Brett is only for those wanting a deep-tissue massage - he varied his pressure throughout the session and I can imagine that even someone wanting a less deep, more relaxing session would walk away with the best massage they've ever had. As for me, I wanted everything worked out! And at one point, I was so overwhelmed with pleasure-pain that I almost started giggling out of euphoria. At the end of my session, I stood up and I felt different. Parts of my body that I wasn't even aware were tense now felt like jelly and I felt taller. Basically, I can't wait to see Brett again, and I don't plan on looking for a different therapist anytime soon! read more

Brett was recommended to me by a friend who raved about her massage with him. After making my appointment and experiencing my own massage I could see why she recommended him. Brett was very professional and welcoming. He takes the time to talk to you about any concerns you might want him to address. The massage itself was great. Brett could sense when to apply more or less pressure. Just enough to get out the 'kinks' without being painful. It was very relaxing...to the point that I wanted to stay and nap for a bit afterwards. I highly recommend getting a massage from Brett and plan on making my next appointment with him soon. read more

I was thrilled to find Brett over a year ago since I have always had such a difficult time finding massage therapists who can do a proper healing medical massage for my tension headaches. Even when I would ask people to work on my neck they wouldn't. I've decided that most massage therapists just don't know how. When I explained to Brett what my problem was he not only worked on my neck but knew the other areas of my body that were contributing to the headaches. After a massage with Brett I feel amazing physically and mentally, relieved of all stress and strain. I have been working with him for over a year now and even though I seriously can't take the traffic in WeHo, it is worth the trek over from Pasadena to have a skilled, actually make that gifted, massage therapist help me to feel better. He's a total Venice Beach hippie lol, but has always run his business professionally. At least I don't have to drive to Venice to get my massages! I have also found him to be very flexible when trying to set appointments, as well as just a sweetheart in general. In any profession it is hard to find the folks who are a cut above regarding talent, skills, and intuition, but Brett is definitely on his way to being in high demand so book him now while you can still afford him! Today was my 4th massage with Brett. I found him just searching, 'massage near me', I saw all the 4 stars review, read a few and was convinced that this was my guy. My back was in sooo much pain, I literally would get up in the morning stooped over. I've been coming once a week, after my 3rd session with some stretches that Brett showed me, I was 90% better. I'm not going to tell you it was relaxing, it was not, it was painful, pressing on the tight muscles wasn't fun but it did the trick. I knew I was in a hands of an expert. Brett is everything everyone says on the reviews below and more. Big guys, big and strong hands, gentle energy, truly a pro. I got a masseuse for life. Thank you god for this great finding. read more

EXCELLENT - Like so many - I live + work a lifestyle in Da Biz that demands long hours - often stressful and tension-filled. I also have chronic back pain / tension via ridiculously strong knots / adhesions that have put many "deep tissue" experts under the table - not able to handle the amount of strength / understanding of physiology needed to be effective. If you have serious need for Deep Tissue - you feel my pain when I say this ;) Brett put fears to rest. He has years of experience and a breadth of expertise working deep with expert knowledge of every specific muscle and how it works / how it should work. Rates are reasonable -- esp considering the depth of his talent + knowledge ... A MUST if a truly effective deep massage is what you desire. read more

Just got back from a massage with Brett, and I'm feeling very relaxed. He's very friendly and welcoming, and he has a very zen and calming presence. It's always important for massage therapists to ask about your problem areas (it really bugs me when they don't), but Brett specifically asked me about this before beginning the massage. His style is definitely firm and focused but gentle. There were a couple times I think I probably could have handled a bit more pressure, but generally speaking it was great. A tip for first time visiting -- to get into the 7906 door, you need to dial the suite number on the callbox (main door is locked) and he will buzz you in or come down to meet you. read more

Sooo... Here's what I have to share with you all this morning: On Wednesday of this past week I had a pretty serious situation going on with my shoulder (specifically in the glenohumoral joint for all my anatomy nerds). There was no sudden moment where it began. I had been feeling signs of this issue coming on for weeks, small at first and then it gradually got worse and worse until I could barely even move my right arm at all! I lost my ability to lift my arm forward, rotate it inwards (medially), or much less, raise my arm any higher then my waist level. I was terrified!! In a way it felt like it was coming partially dislocated somehow!! :-O Here's where the story gets good! I went to work and told my dear friend Brett about it and kindly, he offered to do a little bit of work on the shoulder. He did about 30 minutes of trigger point therapy mainly on the muscles of the rotator cuff and my pectoralis major and minor. It's funny, because I could not believe the relief I felt the next day. Seriously, my arm felt 70% better and I had full range of motion back!! This is my point in telling you all this: It's one thing to be a massage and neuromuscular therapist myself and provide this kind of therapy to people on a daily basis. It's a whole entire other thing to actually be suffering with an acute injury and experience first hand the miraculous capability that this modality has to bring relief!! So, if you're hurting, give massage a try! Really!! read more

Brett is THE MAN when it comes to deep tissue therapeutic massage. Every time I get worked on I feel so much better I wind up taking a 3 mile walk home. He really gets to the root of the problem and eases you into the more intense work that has to be done for healing. read more

Brett. Is. Incredible. You have never had a massage until you've had one from Brett. He is strong, thoughtful, focused and intuitive, moving through the muscles in a way it's impossible to describe, finding pressure points and stress points even you didn't realize you needed worked out. I carry a lot of extra weight on my frame and from that have a lot of extra tension throughout my back, but after every session with Brett I feel revitalized and stronger. He is more than a CMT - he is a healer! Can not recommend strongly enough! read more

I have had many massage experiences over the years but the communication between the client and the massage therapist is essential to a good healing session. I found that Brett listened to everything I mentioned as he worked on me. I get an allergic reaction to heavy aromatic oils and I was pleasantly surprised to find that Brett used a neutral oil combination which did not make my allergies flare up. The work space is very soothing and quiet, and the actual treatment was amazing and accurate. I was extremely relaxed and sleepy at the end of my hour. Brett also explained his use of electromagnetic energy with equipment that gives an extra health advantage to his menu of treatments. I feel that he is dedicated to his art and also tries to stay on the cutting edge with new technology. I will certainly recommend him to some of my friends...oh, gosh, forgot to mention that I am a grandmother but still dance and perform with my dance troupe, as well as trying to maintain a healthy life style. A regular massage is helpful to lining up your body, chakras, energy fields, etc. What can I say? Give Brett a try. You will be amazed at how much better you feel when you walk out the door from his location. read more

Phenomenal experience, I will definately be returning. Brett really pays attention to each detail, to deliver an exceptionally personalized therapeutic session. I especially enjoyed the deep tissue work he performed on my shoulders and neck. Few massage therapist I've encountered are able to master the perfect balance of pressure and pain (the good kind!) without causing me lot of unenjoyable discomfort. Brett was able to apply EXTREMELY firm pressure to my tightest knots without causing the usual pain and groaning. He has an exceptionally powerful flow and rhythm to his touch that is truly unique. I am always a fan of the maintenance and ambiance of a place, and the studio was very relaxing, private and tranquil. Not at all skeevy. The space was kept exceptionally clean and smelled great, five stars all around! read more

Great experience and a great massage. I haven't had many massages and really didn't know the difference between Swedish, deep tissue, shiatsu, etc. Brett was able to explain the main differences to me. He started my session with a very unique process which included a type of electric impulse that contracted my muscles via his hands. I don't know the name of the technique, but I do know that my neck and shoulders have not felt as relaxed as they do now in years. The deep tissue was fantastic. I had just finished a workout; so the massage after made me feel great. Brett's studio is calm and relaxing as is his aura. Brett was recommended by a friend who raved about his massage technique. I already recommended Brett to several of my friends as well. I'm looking forward to seeing him again. read more

Accommodating, intuitive, impressive technique, literal life-saver and beautiful person in and out this guy. Had an injury/re-injury at a skatepark in Venice beach and was in major spasm, couldn't turn my neck at all and had a concert to play in 3 days. Not only did he completely fix the problem and put me at ease, I fortunately gave a great concert with little discomfort. I just wish I had someone of this quality up where I now live in the Pacific Northwest. I highly recommend his services! read more

Brett is an incredible massage therapist and an even more gifted healer. As a massage therapist, I am very particular when getting massage and bodywork done for myself so much so that Brett is one of the few (3 to be exact) massage therapists that I love to receive great work from. His innate ability to give and care from his heart is definitely felt through his work. He is knowledgable about not only the physical body but, is also well-rounded when discussing other means of overall health and wellness through nutrition, fitness/exercise or other alternative medicines and practices. If you're tired of going to those quickie massage places, STOP going there! and head over for an amazing massage and bodywork session that will keep you coming back for all the amazing benefits massage and bodywork has to offer! You'll love him! read more

Brett is the best! I'm not exaggerating when I say he gives the best massages I've ever had. Started seeing him for a neck injury and he was an integral part of the recovery. There is no amount of literature that could encompass how absolutely talented Mr. Chilton is at what he does. I have never had a massage that was so thorough and detailed. There is no task too small or too large for him. He is truly the ultimate professional. He is humble, kind, compassionate, and incredibly hardworking. And very affordable!!! It was by pure accident that I encountered this brilliant man when I used to live in west Hollywood, and I was a loyal client visiting every week for six months. I work out 4 to 5 times a week and it can get really intense, especially that I cross-fit most of those days. Naturally, I need a deep tissue massage once a week to unlock those tense muscles and release the tension. I have never, EVER, had such ironing out of each muscle. I'll say no more and let Mr. Chilton's work speak for itself. Sadly, I have moved to NYC and travel around the world a lot. When I do visit LA I make sure that I book an appointment immediately. Not even going to 5 star hotels have massage therapists that could equal his comprehensive work. A true talent! read more

Brett gave me the best massage I've - ever - had, and I've had hundreds, surely. He was extremely thorough, unarguably skilled and also kind. I've never met another practitioner more intuitive than he is. Often in this setting a practitioner will ask you what you need, but sometimes we don't know ourselves. Perhaps our shoulders are tight? We're stressed and need to let go? This is certainly Brett's calling. He knew what I needed better than I did. And I feel wonderful. Thank you, warmly, Brett. I discovered his practice through Groupon. I had booked my appointment on Oscars Sunday, so getting here proved to be a challenge, and finding the place was a bit difficult. Once I entered the building, I was thrown off by the empty office it was located in, but once I entered the massage room, I felt a completely different atmosphere. I became more relaxed, the calming music took me to another place and suddenly, I forgot all my worries. I recommend Laura, she has the magic touch! Would go back here again! read more
