My eyes are a little more complicated, astigmatism, getting a little older etc. It was great to see Sandy who helped me select new frames and measure me carefully to ensure my bifocals would align properly. Nice frames I'm very excited. Holly was wonderful processing my payment and setting time expectations for coming in to pick up my glasses. He's great at making patients feel comfortable as he tests your vision and figures out what prescription works for you. He listens to his patients to understand their needs, not just their eyesight. In addition, he's great at making patients relaxed for kind of unnerving tests like the little glaucoma stick. The staff up front were super helpful, too. They helped me pick out a frame I liked, and listened to my requests (absolutely no rhinestones, for instance) while also making trendy recommendations. I ended up picking out some black cat eyes that look super great on me. In addition, they have a special program for people whose insurance doesn't cover most of the cost. They don't have just your usual bland glasses, there are a great variety of new stylish choices. Some glasses for more bold fashion (see photo) and others for hardy work wear. As I leaned into the machine my back hurt, a lot. I walked away to find a chair to ease the pain. The technician complained to Dr. Hulburds assistant that I was refusing treatment. I am a registered nurse who worked for many years at UCLA Medical Center and at Jules Stein Eye Institute. I know how patients should be treated and how a medical office should be run. In my opinion this was just another example of Pacific Eye hiring mediocre and outright incompentent staff who not only does not know how to do their jobs properly but who are rude and inconsiderate to the patients and then additionally create needless conflict between the doctors and their patients created by the rudeness and incompetence of their staff who try to shift the blame of their failed effort on the patients.

Some things that have happened recently over the last year or 2 that are making me consider finding a new place to go. - One appointment for a visual field test late last year I think, and I waited 30-40 minutes, I was told someone forgot to start up the machine and that it takes that long to initialize. Another time, the machine broke and I had to drive to San Luis Obispo for the test. - I have had to reschedule an appointment recently and its difficult. I had to call multiple times and no one picks up the phone, I leave messages and nobody calls back. I used the Klara app and get no response other then a link to schedule a new appointment - which doesn't help with cancelling an existing one. After several calls I finally got someone. - Another appointment about 6 months ago, one of the assistants seem to give me a difficult time about my glasses which I got at another local optical shop previously. They remarked the glasses looked old and didn't seem to believe the prescription was right. My prescription didn't change from the last 2 eye exams and I see 20 / 20 with the glasses so they are fine. I let them scan the glasses to confirm the prescription. But I also recall them asking why I didn't get the glasses at Pacific Eye's optical shop which is really none of their business.
