Look no further--go with Breezy Electric! I'm a big believer that you get what you pay for, and Breezy Electric is absolutely worth it. John stands behind his work, takes pride in what he does, and genuinely cares about getting the job done the right way. As first-time homeowners, we've had a lot of projects to tackle, and John has guided us in the right direction every step of the way. Our first project with Breezy Electric was grounding our pool while it was being renovated. John also handled the pool light connections, as well as the electrical work for the pool heater and pump. I interviewed several electricians before choosing Breezy, and what really stood out about John was how thoroughly he explained everything after I described what we wanted. He also made thoughtful suggestions that, looking back, I'm very glad we followed. He wasn't just focused on completing the immediate job--he was thinking ahead about what we would eventually want to do with the property. Another huge plus was how well John coordinated with Gus Pools throughout the pool renovation. That communication made a big difference and helped keep the pool construction on schedule. Since I was planning a full backyard renovation, including outdoor lighting, a gas grill, and an EV charger, John also made sure to leave the proper electrical connections in place for future projects. That kind of foresight has been extremely valuable as we continue renovating. I haven't had any serious issues with the work, but whenever there has been a small hiccup, John has always been responsive. For example, I once didn't realize an outdoor GFCI outlet had tripped, and John was quick to come by or send someone to take a look. Overall, if you're hesitant about who to hire for an electrical project, I highly recommend Breezy Electric. John is knowledgeable, thorough, responsive, and stands behind his work. Breezy Electric has become our go-to electrician, and I'll continue using them for any electrical work we need at our home. (more pictures to come) read more

I chose Breezy from the 3 that Yelp offered up based on reading the reviews and the timeliness of John's response. I also appreciate that he gave a (reasonable) estimate based on my initial description of the project. He communicated well, showed up when we agreed, fixed the problem for a final cost very close to the initial estimate. The slight difference was to be expected as there were 4 (or 5?) circuit breakers that had to be replaced. He followed up on some other issues that he and I noticed, with a plumber that he works with, with as good an experience. For the cynics out there, John, pka Breeze is proof that there are honest, capable, personable tradespeople out there!!! Make him your go-to electrician, he's mine! read more

John is very friendly and professional, did a great job. Good communication, everything went smooth and as expected for a very reasonable price. Would hire again read more

Amazing responsiveness and timeliness. Have already booked them for another project. A pleasure to work with John.

Our kitchen had a very old non-functioning exhaust fan that John helped us replace and re-wire. He really went above and beyond researching the various options and figuring out the most cost effective solution for something that rarely gets stocked or installed these days. He also repaired our front yard lamp post. We're super grateful for John's work and would highly recommend his services! read more

When I saw nothing but 5-star ratings for Jem (now Breezy) I thought, great, but this sounds too good to be true. It's not. Came quickly, knew his stuff, friendly and professional manner, and did the repairs at a reasonable rate. Would definitely recommend--and call again. read more

Highly recommend. Came right on time and got done quicker than expected on a wiring & light install. would hire again.

They did a great job installing three light fixtures for us back in December. One of the fixtures was a complicated larger hanging pendant is a tricky stairwell. They knew exactly what to do. Great communication and professionalism. They're definitely now our lighting go-to. read more

Very responsive, reliable, and flexible - would definitely use John & team again for any lighting needs!

I cannot recommend John and JEM enough. My partner and I had some serious problems with a ceiling light- we had tried to replace it with a ceiling fan only to find out that our electric is from before 1960s. There were no ground wires and our previous electrician snapped a wire trying to figure out what was going on and then created a quick fix that shorted out when there were power surges across nyc due to a storm. We had no power in our kitchen and a possible fire hazard on our hands. John was quick to respond, assess the damage in the pictures and give us a quote that was an extremely reasonable price! He'd worked with old buildings before so the job took no time at all, plus since we're renters he wrote up an invoice for the work as well as an assessment of future work that the light needs, so that we could charge it to our landlord and he could follow up with the rest of the work. So smooth and easy! And he was organized, on time and had every tool possible for the job. Seriously, if you need an electrician I don't think you can find a better one x read more

my apologies to john at jem lighting he and his family experienced a "flu bug" he reached out to me and set up an install appointment fast! came installed an left me a happy satisfied customer read more

Had a power outage and a bunch of lights and outlet wouldn't come back on after resetting the breaker. Submitted a request and John offered to stop by even near midnight to take a look. He was super friendly and professional. Came here promptly at the time he mentioned. Explaining along the way the issues and possible causes. Unfortunately this wasn't very straight forward due to new and old wiring in my 1920s house. It was definitely a head scratcher but it appears that there's some bad wiring within the walls after quite of bit of troubleshooting. He was able to offer a solution that didn't require having to tear down walls looking for the fault and ran a new circuit. It was done perfectly and he even left extra slack in the wiring in case I ever do another renovation so that the lines don't need to be done again. He cleaned up after himself once done. Overall A+++ service and would definitely recommend. He's got a customer for life. I would surely call him if I ever redo my entire electrical for my house or need electrical service on my other property. You can't go wrong. Good and very fair prices on top of the excellent work!! I'm very happy all my lights and outlets are working again! :) read more

Over the past year I used Jem Lighting to run a new line to my kitchen, fix a problem with the line to my boiler, install two exterior lights and put up a ceiling fan. For every project/problem, John was quick to get back to me, very accommodating of my schedule, answered my question, arrived on time, and when I was having trouble with my line to the boiler, he managed to come out despite such short notice. I am particularly appreciative of how, when I had a tricky request for one ot the exterior lights, John was able to figure out a way to make it work, and Danny did a fantastic job of installing it. Both John and Danny were reliable, personable, professional, patient, knowledgeable, and tidy - I am satisfied and happy with all the work that they did! read more

I hired this company recently to repair, undercabinet lighting. The technician had to come twice, once to diagnose the problem, and then to complete the repair. The technician, Danny was absolutely wonderful. Very patient, calm, and polite. I would absolutely use them again for future work. I thought the pricing was very reasonable. read more

Great service, came and fixed a light in the ceiling, explained to me as a home owner things to watch out for and also just the nature of older houses/ electrical wiring etc. Finished and installed a new light within an hour. Good pricing and prompt with time. read more

We bought our house and needed serious rewiring and recessed lights installation work done. John came and listened to my concerns and needs. He provided me the quote and same evening, sent me the list of materials he would require to complete the job. After delivery of materials, John was quick to install the lights and begin the rewiring work. Our plan was to install a multitude of 3 switches, create separate lighting zones, as well as other ad-hoc ideas. John was always willing accommodate and was able to complete the job accurately. I also want to commend him on his communication skills and quick responses at any time of day. Will definitely turn to him for our electrical needs. read more

Had excellent experience with JEM electrician. Nick had to do some troubleshooting to determine why one kitchen light fixture was not working. I thought it was paddle switch which he replaced but he tracked it down to one faulty wire inside ceiling beneath the fixture. Took him less than a minute to repair. Nick was very nice, professional and definitely efficient. Because I'm a senior citizen, the owner, John, gave me a break on the usual flat fee, something I appreciated. Nick arrived wearing a face mask (of course). All-in-all, I would totally recommend using JEM for any future work. read more

John was such a professional. He upgraded my service to 200 amps and everything came out great. I would recommend him and his team to anyone looking for a great, qualified and professional electrical experience. read more

Fantastic experience with John and his team. Right from the beginning of the process: John was very responsive in taking calls and talking through options. John is very professional and experienced. I had a few lights that were not working and he was able to assess the problem which was an easy fix. I inquired about fixing these lights with another company and they automatically told me that I would need to tear down my ceiling and have everything rewired (before they came to assess the problem in person). John also installed my chandelier. Great guy, he gets the job done! read more

Breezy Electrical - Lighting Fixtures & Equipment Near Me

I just moved to the area and am so glad to have connected with John. He was super quick to get back to my request and was able to fit me in on the weekend. He and Mikey came prepared to work, and my light install ended up being a bigger project than we thought in an older co-op building. Putting a light where there was none is no joke. They ended up having to come back the next day to finish up, and I couldn't be happier. They were a pleasure to have in my space, did lovely work, and John says he would even come back to do touch ups on the plaster work. I'll definitely be calling them for future projects (easier ones I promise!). read more

Great experience! Got a quote from John in minutes that was a bit lower than the rest. He came by the next day and installed two lights quickly and safely. I had sent him the links to the fixture and he had looked them up online the day before so he would know what to expect. Very communicative throughout - he let me know way in advance he was running a bit behind, but then didn't end up being late at all. And he didn't mind explaining every step in the process so I could learn a little bit. Highly recommended. read more

We are a property management company so we not only know the technical side of things to make sure that the work gets done properly but also we want the best. We demand that the contractor is responsive, diligent, technically competent, and can respond to difficult problems. John from JEM Lighting really impressed me with his work. Don't let the name of the company fool you. I had originally thought that this was simply a lighting specialist but he's an electrician by trade. He can figure out all the electrical needs that you have. He did for us. I can tell you that there are a lot of terrible contractors out there. When there presented with even a slight difficulty that's not normal, they don't know how to react. But John, quickly pivoted and did the work quickly and at a fair price. With John, the owner, you'll really find someone who's fair and won't take advantage of you. read more

I needed help with removing an old light fixture from a vaulted 13-foot ceiling, and then with installing a new, hanging chandelier in the same place. After asking around without much luck, receiving difficult responses, or what I considered to be outrageous estimates, I connected with Jem Lighting and Led Specialist on Yelp. John was super responsive and accommodating of my work schedule, gave what I considered to be a fair estimate for the job, and had no issue with the higher ceiling. Better still, we were able to schedule his visit for the following afternoon. As our conversation on Yelp suggested would be the case, John and his crew arrived on time, were super nice, professional and experienced. They efficiently and carefully removed the old light, installed the new one, were mindful of the apartment at all times, and helped with installing all of the bulbs once finished. Afterwards, they even asked about a broom and helped sweep up the floor. Further still, after discussing a potential dimmer switch and the height of the chandelier, John offered to stop by within the week to assist with either additional task, if necessary. Bottom line, if I have another lighting or electrical issue, I'll be reaching out to John and Jem Lighting and Led Specialist. read more
